OMG Iam in the audience
Superbe ALBUM TRES GEANT ❤❤❤❤❤
Put it to ya this way, I'm a happy happy guy
The Adventures wrote a lot of good songs, brilliant band👍
I wish they had the episode with The Ruts performing
...let's nevermind the fact they're singing about "love explosions" for an audience of children. It was an incredible performance! What an amazing stage
doesn't add much rather detracts from the original.
The story goes that John Lennon phoned Ringo Starr and said: "Hitler is on the Telly!"
Don’t shake Savile’s hand Ron, you don’t know where it’s been😮
I also came across this very recently - a live version of Send My Heart - in Germany, and in 1985. They look so impossibly young - but sound incredible, as always. In case you haven't seen it, here is the link: th-cam.com/video/u4x1F45z_Zw/w-d-xo.html
WOW!! Great live performance - Terry looking old and a bit frail, but still sounding awesome. And brilliant to see them as a seven piece - not sure I could name everyone, only really sure of Terry, Eileen and Pat and I think Jonathan - the other three I am not sure - although the bass player looks uncannily like the sadly deceased Tony Ayre. Hope you had a fabulous night - and can post maybe another track or two. Have you got a set list? I suppose nothing new on it, but hope they played some of your favourites.
Fantastic singers! Wonderful exactly for simple semplicity. Great for this, also.😂😂❤❤
Thak you very much, jetsky! I l❤ve very much this fantastic band! When I will can come here?😢😢 concert 2024, when? Can you video, if concert 2024? Thank you, very much! Send a great kiss to him from Italy.❤ When in Italy? 😢😮
Billy Idol & Russell Mael-what more could anyone want???????
Wish they appearance on tiswas was on here where Ron Mael get plastered with custard pies
Saville ! This should be taken down. He should never be seen again ! Even in Death
The first female interviewer ( she was again on the couch ) was very cute and fun. Sadly, Miriam Pielhau died in 2016 after a 7 year battle with breast cancer 😞
Best version
I really didn't like 'Change' when it came out. Then when they danced it up here for the 12" it suddenly came alive with all it's drama. Sounding very Frankie goes to Hollywood '2 Tribes go to war' methinks. They were good friends with Paul Rutherford from Frankie around that time so I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was a bit of an influence going on. If Sparks ever wanted to reintroduce this track to their live set they should use this mix & wake a few people up at the same time! Yeah!
🤩😍
Shocking sound quality.
how the hell did they get away with singing this on crackerjack
Siguen vigentes, inoxidables, maravillosos, gracias por compartir... me encantaría verlos en Argentina,... saludos
Anca mi, ma a Venessia!
Te poi sognarteo de notte! 😮😂
This is best band for me 😊❤️
A truly wonderful band who really deserved much more success.
All their songs are beautiful ❤, heard there was a forth album in the making but can't find anything about this
Too much disco 😂😒🥵
I was disappointed when I found out they were US - I always imagined they were central European.
I remember Sparks Beat the Clock getting loads of UK radio airplay in 1979.
Late great Terry wogan loved sparks had them on his show doing it Ron with keyboard and kettle drums..85...and he played angst in my pants on his radio show in the morning...that was the time to say bye bye to radio 1😂...respect gazzz
Ron Mael looks just like Charly García
A very different mix from the album version.
Yes, this was the UK 7" single mix.
Look out for the 8 minute extended version, it's the best of both worlds - the tighter, punchier mix of the single version but featuring the missing verses and middle eight from the album version.
Ron Mael makes me smile! He's a card.
Please tour the US.
No, prima a Venesia. Grasie!
wow, Ed Stewpot or what ever his name as LOL-Sparks were weird, especially Hitler with hair gel.
Weird in a good way, though!
@@douglasfreeman3229 True, they did some great tunes, sounded a bit sammie, but still a good bop tune for a wedding or if you just want to goof about.
Fantastic version ❤️👌
Why don't I recall this show at all.
Did you live in the Tyne-Tees region? That’s probably why - the people running the station thought that war movies were more interesting!
Fantastic band.
If I had been Jimmy Saville, secretly doing bad things, but otherwise doing a few good things, like clunk click, jim'll fix it and top of the pops, I would want to wake up to myself, and say "I am in danger of throwing it all away".
~~~~~~~
The strangest juxapostion of stuff.
I got through the early heats but just failed to make the finals 😂
I fell at the last hurdle.
Also, in "When Do I Get To Sing My Way", they reminisce about "those Crackerjack years". Wonder if this is what they were referring to?!
Were the Krankies on this episode? Imagine the Maels and the Krankies sharing a dressing room. There's something quite poignant about this song being cheered by all the kids... they are the ones that made it through, once upon a time they too were tryouts for the human race. It's to their great credit that the Maels could get this subject matter across entirely benignly and appropriately in such an environment. It comes across as very meta and self-aware, emotionally mature and empathetic to their surroundings. Almost cosmic and divine. Plus it's one of the best songs of all time, that helps! On a more muso level, I must say I love David Humphrey taking on the role of Keith Forsey on drums, he is underrated in Sparks history as he was a vital part of how they presented themselves at this time. Wonder why they didn't use Keith, but David plays the part superbly.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
How they all were so skinny back in 70ies? Everyone's a rhinoceros nowadays 0.0
Well Ron may not be the best example of a typical human, but generally more people had physically active jobs and there was less money in their budgets for snacks between meals.
Generally people ate less. Smaller portions. Ron, however, sustains himself on 🥗 basically 😆
No TH-cam or Netflix ....and evil corporations weren't conspiring to give everyone diabetes and heart problems yet.
@@captainpoppletonExcuse me? Disposable income has gone *way* down since the 70s. And people ate what we nowadays consider junk food on a daily basis. I know because I was there. The reasons average weights have gone up are likely complex & many, but "they didn't snack much back then" ain't one of them.
@@annabackman3028I love it when people who have little to no personal memories of an era make definitive statements about life during that era. You really ought to look at what average Americans ate in the 70s. Your hair would stand on end.
Russel's pink suit is so 2022... oh wait, he wore it in 1979.
So 2018! "The Pink Tour" with 'Hippopotamus'😂
It seems Russel Mael was Bryan Ferry 's cover version around this time.
Is that a retro Vernon Kay
😂😂😂, I believe that’s Ed ‘Stewpot’ Stewart, died the day before Bowie sadly so it slipped under the radar, but I can’t un-see retro Vernon Kay Now 😂😂😂.
Russell Mael was born October 5, 1948, about 31-32 ys at this time. Go back a few years, to 1974, 'Kimono My House'and 'Propaganda' era, and even further back to 1971-72, ('Sparks' + 'A Woofer in a Tweeter's Clothing') and check out Ron, the keyboardist 😂, barely recognizable!
That textbook resonate arpeggiated Moroder ninja-nanjer bassline.
Yep. That it is. Sparks, man. They approved a cover album by various bands. And when the results didn't please them they got a hold of Tony Visconti and did it themselves. Jimmy Somerville and Mike Patton were cool and were allowed to stay. The rest were OUT. If you want to have your mind blown then look for Your Fandango on the old TH-cam. That's them and Todd Rundgren. Casually singing a masterpiece visualized by one of the finest artists of our time. FFS. THEY ARE NEARLY 80!!!!!
Nice one
The keyboard player with the booger shaped mustache is very charismatic and mysterious. I wonder what brand of deodorant he uses?
Lynx Africa 🧐
By capturing the animal and wiping it underneath his arm pits he enchanted me
And the papers want to know whose shirts he wears.
Keyboardist = Ron Mael, the major genius behind Sparks' music. On the album 'No. 1 In Heaven' a good part is from Georgio Moroder, though.
@@captainpoppleton Space oddity haha
So very good
