I am beyond excited to be premiering my new composition called “Ball on the Ice”. This song was inspired by winter spirit and the celebration of the New Year. It's set to a poem by Russian poet Nestor Vasilyevich Kukolnik. The setting takes place near the frozen ice waters of the Neva River in St. Petersburg, hence the title name. Etudes-Tableaux, Op. 33 No. 8 in G minor written by my favorite composer Sergei Rachmaninoff recorded on Kawai CX-5H. Etude Tableau essentially means "study of a picture". They were intended to provoke musical evocations by external visual stimuli. This particular piece was most possibly inspired by "Before the storm". Painted by Russian painter Isaac Levitan.
