MITSUBISHI 2.6L Cylinder Head replacement and balance shaft elimination
The Mitsubishi G54b 2.6 engine came in a lot of cars in the 80s and early 90s. It has its problems, two of which are cylinder heads cracking and Balance shafts causing noise and low oil pressure, both of which we are fixing today, well over 3-4 days, but only 1 video. As usual I used @SuperEasySuperFast Super Clean to make these greasy 30+ yeat old parts look like new.

Great knowledge I used to work in parts in my young days I enjoyed it at the time
@@doctorlefthandthread but we had racks of books to search, not a computer
@Foxcanfixit exactly exhaust books brake pad books etc you had to properly retain information on popular vehicles to save time
@ and the books were really good at cross referencing
Now just bolt a 2x6 or 2x8 board to the CJ bumper for style lol
@@gi_mechanicsscalemodeling I think I may have a 2x12….too much 😀
@Foxcanfixit Nope the 2x12 would work well even give you room to mount a receiver hitch on .
@@gi_mechanicsscalemodeling 😂

My actuator is tapping out and I’m too large of a guy to reach it to bypass it
Had the same engine in my 1990 Isuzu trooper. A lot of people would swap in the 3.8 3800.
@@Midwest_XJ if I keep it long enough I have looked into that possibility
@@Foxcanfixit I’d keep that one. I’ve been looking for an MJ for years. I’m also in Ohio and finding a clean(ish) one is impossible or you’re paying $8-12k for one. Granted those ones have the 4.0 in it, but still….super great find for you and if it were me, I’d keep it and make it awesome
@ problem is I’m not allowed to sell the 87 Ram 50 (per my daughter) and I don’t need 2 small blue trucks. I’ll probably sell this one and find a full size truck that I can tow more project cars with.
@ I understand the predicament, I’ll keep my eyes open when it’s for sale!
2.8. Same as my s10. Mine throttle body 430k miles
@@joethomas6457 the TBI 2.8 is way better than this carbed version
@Foxcanfixit yeah. Anything is better than the iron Duke 2.5. That some had
@ iron Duke is great in an industrial application (fork truck, generator, etc., but it’s not great in a vehicle
Now in the 90s that made for a very unimpressive burnout truck
No matter what that's a cool jeep
That is the wrong kind of doughnut 🍩🍩
@@NathansMoparGarage they were out of glazed 🤷♂️
@Foxcanfixit Time to find a better doughnut shop
@ agreed
They have no mechanic experience
Remember when parts guys could pull out 1, 2, or 3 books from under the counter, and in no time, you'd be walking out with the right part ?
@@Peter-jo3wt sadly I remember when the parts counter was a giant rack of parts books and no computers at all
I work at orielly and when a customer says look anyways theyre prolly right and if they wrong its on them
@@jjay4193 yep, it’s 100 on me if I pick something not for the vehicle I intend to put it on. Also it want at O’reillys, I usually have a good relationship with the guys at my local one. It was that Zone place

Electrolysis
@@Smokey-88 electrolysis between the dissimilar metals causes the galvanic reaction? Seems right
@Foxcanfixit I've never heard it called that before. When steel hits non-ferrous metal, electrolysis will occur.
@ also in this case I believe rodent urine sped up the process 🤢
@Foxcanfixit I've seen rodent damage do a number on automotive, especially when the engineers start making wiring harnesses out of soy.
The one bolt looks like a brake caliper bolt!
@@michaelhiles5350 there’s a couple that went to chain guides that were eliminated, and the long one definitely looks like a caliper bolt 😀
Seal 🦭 driver
Just in time
@@NathansMoparGarage ba-dum-tsss
That works good too. Also sometimes you can freeze the seal it will shrink or warm up the housing to expand it out or combination of both & should push in it in by hand. Used to do that of the front main seals on the HMMWV's
@@gi_mechanicsscalemodeling wait, HMMWVs leaked a lot? 😀😂
@Foxcanfixit yes they do it's from lack of use seals dry rot😁

Looks like a roll pin.
@@Clevelandsteamer324 it is, the camshaft has a dowl cast into it that lines up with the hole in the cam gear on the back side, the distributor gear uses a removable dowl the lines up with the same hole in the cam gear from the front side. @Foxcanfixit i was so mad, but I got it for 300 bucks, so it didn't hurt too much. That was my first and last time I tried adjusting valves
This is definitely easier than mine that uses little disks that you can drop into the engine, but I doubt this can rev to 9000rpm
