Early exposure to the maskandi genre, particularly the late great artist Mjikijelwa, inspired Menzi Mabizela formally known as Menzi to persue a career in music. Fueled by his own drive and determination, he released his first demo album Ngethuka Iqhawe Lakho in 2018, which garnered attention in his hometown Ladysmith. In 2019, Menzi released his debut studio album Bebuka Thina, earning him the Best Newcomer award at the SATMAs. Since then, his musical career has continued to flourish with his fourth studio album Ngeke Ungiphathe. The album was nominated for Best Maskandi Album at the SAMAs, and it's standout single earned Best Song of the Year nomination at the SATMAs. Additionally, Menzi Mabizela has performed at numerous prestigious events, including Nyusivolume and Khuphuka Nezakho, solidifying his position as a prominent figure in the Maskandi genre.
