Hi, I’m a 21-year-old high school dropout who is very passionate about starting a Computer Science program at the University of Toronto. I’ve taken significant steps towards this goal and could use some guidance on the next steps as a mature student. Here’s where I’m at: Education: I’ve successfully self-studied and completed precalculus and Python programming. Additionally, I’ve passed the IELTS exam. Goal: I’m eager to apply to the CS program at the University of Toronto, but I’m not sure about the best way to proceed. I’m looking for advice on the following: Meeting Prerequisites: With my background in precalculus and Python, along with my IELTS score, what are the best ways to demonstrate my readiness for the CS program? Application Process: Are there specific steps or considerations I should be aware of as a mature student applying to the CS program? Support for Mature Students: Are there any additional resources or support systems at the University of Toronto for mature students that I should explore? Any advice or personal experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!
Hey, I don’t think I’m the greatest person to ask for this but I’ll try my best. I don’t know if Uoft will accept you into the cs program without a high school Diploma. However if you’re goal is only a job in cs then I would recommend to continue learning coding on your own in fields like cybersecurity or like app dev, web dev, etc. Then go to networking event, and participate in hackathon. And then try to apply directly on the companies website and just practice a lot of technical question. Hope this helps

Not really a difference a lot of people specialize and double major, what’s important is thst you get enough credits for whatever you chose thst is all

How much is the fees per year ? For international students undergrad biology …
I have no idea, Ik that international is maybe 2x or 3x domestic I’m assuming probably around 30-50grand a year for internationals
I just so happen to be studying next year to get into the same department at the same uni and at the same branch as you lol :)

I think the cutoff last year was 97% and higher for accepted

Really enjoyed this. I really hope I can enjoy college like this. Tbh, I suck at math and Im lowkey worried about Computer Science. I'm also worried about not having friends and stuff and just how things will be. Also having that drive to keep going, especially when your more responsible for yourself more and stuff. I guess I've been just having doubts, but I know it's what I want to do, but there's so many things on my mind right now. Also thinking about my studying habits and how I need to work on that. I also have been thinking a lot about change and doing a lot of procrascination.
Do not worry you’ll be fine…. I had similar worries and I turned out fine… you got this just try to get out of your comfort zone for the first month of uni and you’ll be fine

Hi Peter! Ima be a 1st yr co-op comp sci student this fall at uoft and i was a little confused on what courses I should take. On the calendar, it says that these are required: CSCA08H3, CSCA48H3, CSCA67H3, MATA22H3, MATA31H3, MATA37H3 and COPB50H3 and COPB51H3. Do Uk what other 2 courses I should take and do those 2 other course matter in terms of their credit?
You will need to get 4 credits before you specialize so you’ll need to do 4 class per sem the copb course don’t count for credits. I would recommend intro into philosophy/ethics and intro to business
@@Peter_yoo1. but if you do 4 courses per sem doesn't it mean youll graduate in more than 5 years? 2. In choosing COPB50H3 and COPB51H3, do we have to add both lectures and practicals to our timetable builders eventhough its online asynchronous?
If you do summer you’ll still graduate on time if not even earlier, however I’d just recommend trying five classes excluding copb since they don’t count for credit in the first semester. So that would be 3 cores plus 2 electives. Since the workout is actually pretty heavily and adjusting in the second semester to maintain a decent gpa. And yes copb50 classes have lectures no practicals, that take attendance.
