Ken Aoki from Japan !
omg wow!
Still one of the greatest performances on any instrument ever!
What happened to Suburo Wanatabe Inoue. The greatest Japanese banjo version of Foggy Mountain Breakdown ever.
NEVER and NEVER I had so high music emotions .... You just did it soooooo perfect. Now I can dye !!!!!
I think Eddie Peabody would have been pleased with this. I was.
I am a banjo player and appreciate how nimble his fingers are .. but very fast is not necessarily very musical. Such a shame that speed is associated with good banjo playing. Would love to hear him play slower and with more expression with different volumes and timing.
I've never heard anyone strum a four string so well. He really gets everything out of the instrument. Thanks
it will never stop being insane to me that even 'jazz' and indeed any 'improvisation' by japanese is measured and calculated and executed musically with robotic perfection... there are no elongated gaps, no slurs of notes, hardly any human emotion in the technical playing itself - absolutely nothing like emotional improvisation playing on an instrument seen in other regions. it is almost as though the emotion comes out everywhere else around, but not the sounds from within the instrument itself. there is an odd beauty to it though, like a woman crying profusely while singing absolutely perfectly with no changes or mistakes or even one falter or slip in her singing. seems like that is the beauty of the Japanese way.
Pretty sure this arrangement was done by Dave Wolpe for Big Band
凄い、ノリノリの演奏ですね。青木さん!
Great stuff but the orchestra members have to learn how to look a bit more happy though!
My banjo keeps looking at me and laughing.
A genius at work.
Great version.....Rosa Larsen
Fantastic!
Laurel and Hardy did this in one of their films. Played on bedsprings!
Ide love to see Steve Martyn and this guy meet and play together ? Just a thought hee hee
super mario world
I was looking for Suburu Wanatabe Inoue and found this.
I thoroughly enjoy this performance EVERY time I hear it. Marvelous!
Это непревзойденный музыкант,хотелось бы знать чем он занимается сейчас?
I like this allot. ALLOT!

Great music on a great sounding banjo! What brand is it?
I thought this was Django Reinhardt’s ghost.
四ツ谷の教会のコンサートで、生で拝聴しました。圧巻でしたし、ニューオルリンズジャズへの愛を感じました。
What a joy to watch.
Great, but let's not forget Stan Laurel's rendition on bedspreads in flying duces.
Oh that was fun. Who can be crabby when a banjo is going on. Nice playing Ken Aoki!
The face you make when you prove banjo is fun
Not sure why the banjo is appreciated most when played very very fast. It sounds lovely when played slow.
I didn't know you could struggle banjo to sound like a lovely tune like something you can hear from a date night
I can’t imagine that it is possible to play a plectrum banjo better than that.
How to beat the devil when he comes down to Georgia with a banjo
man.
Brilliant
Absolutely fantastic, his face tells you how he loves his music and his instrument. Great band.
The joy in his face is infectious 😍😊
Fantastic
He should dual with Bela Fleck
Excellent !... its tuning is-it always CGBd ?
So beautiful and happy. You hope his mom is in the audience. Brilliant and this made my week!
Gershwin would’ve gotten a kick outta this rendition after all this is where Jazz came from
So this is a tenor guitar? I know plectrum refers to a pick. thanks.
Looks like a real ‘plectrum guitar’ in plectrum guitar tuning, as far as I can tell. During the first half of the 20th century, manufacturers started making guitars for 4 string banjo players. The tenor guitar is the guitar version of the shorter-scale tenor banjo (tuned in 5ths, CGDA, or GDAE). The plectrum guitar is based on the longer-scale plectrum banjo (traditionally tuned CGDB). Plectrum banjos are pretty rare these days, and plectrum guitars even more so. Many people play them in a regular guitar tuning (DGBE) minus two strings. So, it's like a tenor guitar, but a little longer, and in plectrum tuning the chords are voiced more closely than in tenor tuning.
Absolutely brilliant 👏👌
Wow
These guys are out of freakin’ control! I think They’ve been smoking banjo strings backstage before the show. They’re so happy it’s contagious.
Well you pick a pretty mean Banjo son. That Plectrum Banjo is known for that very fast Strumming sound you might also recognise from "Dixieland Jazz".
That clarinet or whatever that is sounds insane
