Lure and fly fishing.
Chalk Stream fly fishing for Grayling
I had another opportunity to fish a southern chalk stream for Grayling. Unfortunately the Grayling proved to be a challenge but the out of season browns were biting.

I was supposed to be catching Perch.

My first chance to fish the river since the flooding, I was after perch but ended up catching pike. I use a 10lb wire trace now because of these situations.

My biggest perch so far in 2024, it came from the river on the light lure set up.
Dropshot with worms on a hot day.

I decided to fish one of my club waters that has a lot of cover from the bright sun. The tactic was dropshot with worms and soft plastics. It made for an interesting few hour of fishing.

Due to a lack of action I took out the ultra-light outfit, although I did not catch any massive fish it was a fun session.

For a change I decided to use an inline spinner for a few hours this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by the results.

There had been a recent stocking of new fish, despite catching a few resident fish to start fresh fish moved in and provided a lot of action.
First floating line action at Farmoor 2024

My first fish on the floating line at Farmoor for 2024. Caught on a Hares ear on the point. The water levels were very low, so long leaders were not required.
A quick explanation of Boobie fishing ( for Ben🤔)
มุมมอง 1.1K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a quick video on how I fish boobies from the bank in the winter. It is a great method when the fish are deep or near the bottom, but it can also work with a longer leader so the boobie rises higher in the water. Hope it helps Ben.
Fly fishing a Southern Chalk stream for Grayling

An enjoyable winters day fly fishing for Grayling. The fish were biting and the river was in good condition despite the last few weeks of inclement weather. I fished a single nymph under an indicator, unfortunately the dry fly did not work on this day.
Tree Meadow Trout fishery in Cornwall, for a few hours fishing .

Christmas 2023 saw wind and rain in Cornwall, when the weather broke I managed a few hours at Tree Meadow Trout fishery near Hayle. It was great fun fishing PTNs on a slow retrieve or static.
They are getting bigger 😊

I was supposed to be catching big Perch but this pike came along. A tad unprepared for it and I payed the price by bleeding from the cut all afternoon. Thanks Tony for your help, it was meant to be your fish 🤣

Today required a mix of retrieving and shaking to get a reaction from deep water perch. These were the Crazy Fish 2 inch lures. www.agmdiscountfishing.co.uk/product/crazy-fish-2-vibro-worm-54-green-acid-8pcs/
Spincast ultra light fishing. Back to Reality in the UK.

After my fishing in the USA it was back to the reality of fishing in the UK, struggling to find a decent size fish or two. My local canal fishing is well known as being very poor with the occasional good fish being caught. Would you still recommend this reel ? They now do a mark 2 version
Yes it is a good budget reel, the addition of the shallow spool also works well. P
Thoroughly enjoy all of your videos, like your no bullshit approach and style. You have defintely inspired me to get back into fly fishing and love Perch fishing too
Many Thanks, feel free to ask questions and I will do my best,Cheers

Is this Dave from our WhatsApp group? P
@ I don’t think so. I herald from across the border, South Wales! But I envy your lovely choice of waters as viewed on your lovely videos.
@daverichards6557 OK just checking. P
Nice fishing Peter. Is your rod the original Orvis Clearwater? tight lines mate.
@@Chrisowen1948Newbury Thanks, it was a good day weather wise and fishing results. It is the canvas green tube generation, I said it was nine and half foot but is is actually nine foot.
Lovely looking fish, well done. That’s a fantastic chalk stream looks in good condition.
Well done

Nice one for using a wire trace 🙏Where's there's Perch there's (usually) Pike too.
Brilliant catch. xx

Thanks for posting 👍
Just watching all your drop shotting videos ❤
Drop Shot fishing is great fun, you don,t need to carry much gear and you can keep mobile. Tight Lines.
Beautiful plastic lures at a reasonable price!
Brilliant

@@SputZ-t4z Hi, Big perch use to bemore common my way but I think predation and pollution have taken there toll. Which is a real shame.
I cought a 6 pound perch in haringvliet (Netherlands)
Great stuff, I have fished in Holland near Utrecht as I have a friend living and fishing there.
@@PeterFryfishing Amsterdam got some big pike and big perch in t'ij aswell 1.20 meter pike i caught there with a small shad on a rod not qualified to catch those monsters. Tho that river seems to vary in fish allot i think it has to do with seasons.
@@PeterFryfishing very nice perch tho u caught not very common to catch those, especially in that water👍
That's a really big perch my guy
I assume that you are fishing the Hampermill lake. Nice little perch and as you say it shows at they are breeding.
Nice 👍
Peter & his perfect perch ❤
Awesome what do you catch it on?
A 2 inch Lake Fork boot tail and matching jig head.
That’s amazing. Well done Pete. xx
The master, well done.
Nice little catch Pete.
An afternoon well spent!
I am missing out 😢. Well done 😊
Are we using a Daiwa spin caster! ❤ Best bang for the buck!
@@tobystrickland8000 it is, as I said on the video a £10 ebay purchase.
What is the red ball on the drop shot hook and how did you set it up ? Thanks
It is just a plastic bead that I thread onto the hook, simple . Thaks Peter
@@PeterFryfishing Thankyou 👍🏻what size bead do you use for a size 14 or 12 kamasan hook ?
@@mlkogk9928 what ever fits tends to be my rule, I think I bought them from Decathlon.
I ve not done a lot of drop shot, but what I have done has been great fun. While I have a small selection of soft plastics similar to what's been shown on the video, I have had more success with smallish garden worms..What i love about drop shot fishing is how little you need to carry....it's also great for kids as they are constantly doing something so don't get bored....
Thanks for the comment, I too use real worms, as you say a great way for catching various species. I also have some videos with real worms. Thanks Peter
That’s a beauty, well done Pete. xx
Greedy little critter, eyes too big for tummy.
Your getting some great catches there Pete. Well done. xx 😊
Peter. Perch. Pike. Perfect.
Good session Peter👍
They seem to be listening in class 🎓🐟
Good students at Farmoor 🙂
It was a busy day😊
Looks nice there, doing well if you have had five catches already. xx
My thoughts exactly. This'll upset the tackle snobs and gatekeepers.
Indeed it does.
Fished like this a few times (normally when I'm desperate). It certainly works. I find I tend to hook fish deep (around the back of the gills). Not great if you are releasing fish.
Interestingly I have very few occasions of deep hooking ( as per the video) I fish barbless which is a big help. Cheers Peter
I love the simplicity.
Nice one Peter, tight lines
