Ikea makes a small ironing 'board' that fits in the top of a Raskog.
Ivar is my favourite. You can easily reconfigure it anytime without damaging any joints in the process. Short shelves will not deform, the long ones might slightly, but it requires a lot of weight. I got lots of books on mine and they are still almost completely straight after 15+ years :)
Explain what a stay stitch is, please?
A stay stitch is a stitch that is used inside the seam allowance to stop the fabric from stretching
Very helpful! and just one more reason to L.O.V.E Ikea storage items!
Great video. You are a natural. A real pleasure to watch and listen to your presentation.❤️
thank you for your sweet words!
This video was perfect to encourage me to get my sewing room cleaned out, my dream is to redo my sewing room.!
This is a very informative video, but There is one question you did not answer for me. I want a 2 1/2" corner . Do I place the ruler bottom line where the arrow is directly below the 2 1/2" mark? Or do I move it over to the dotted line angling towards the 2 1/2" printed number? I hope I am making sense. Basically, where do I place the bottom line?
I'm an interior designer and worked as an organizer years ago and I have never had an opportunity to set foot in an Ikea store! Thankyou so much for this very comprehensive tour. I get so very tired of seeing one ikea sewing room after another online, but I love the organizational ideas Ikea comes up with. I'm hoping to have a sewing room quite soon, but I'll be using mostly thrifted items and no open storage - such as pegboard - to reduce visual clutter. A room with minimal visual clutter is quicker and easier for me to keep sorted. One very underused, easy to build storage area in almost all rooms is on the wall, above the entry door into the room. I run a shelf from side wall to side wall just below the ceiling - above the door frame. I find it a great place for my fabric stash, using decorative labeled boxes. Using the wall above the entry door means that as you enter the room, it does not add visual clutter. For those people whose brains tend to wander off causing us to leave stuff laying here, there, and everywhere, rooms with less visual clutter can help us identify potential messes easier when we next enter the room. Easy to put things back where they belong causing less likelihood of the "mounds'o'crap" accumulating all over. And I agree with you completely - drawer organizers are key to creating a specific place for things to live!
❤ I’ve been wanting to go to IKEA in my sewing room for the night but it’s a long way for me to go to the next IKEA. This year was really helpful. Planning what I will get when I get there and how much I’m going to pay.❤
I actually bought the striped fabric last week at the Atlanta store. Not sure yet what I'm gonna do with it, but for $14.00 and 100% cotton...I'll find something
You had me at chocolate! Haha. My stash is a little harder to get to. Thank you for your videos. I used to quilt and I do have cottons that would be good for the smaller storage drawers etc. Now I am mainly sewing in fleece. 2 meters of fleece folded takes up a lot of room. I currently am using some ugly storage shelves but I’m wanting to update to something nice looking. I had thought of having 2 Kallux back to back with a table top for my cutting table. I would be able to roll some of the fleece and store them in the spaces but I still don’t think it would be enough storage for my fabric. Do you have any other IKEA ideas? I like the clean white look of IKEA products. Walking into the room and seeing all of the prints and colours of fabrics make me happy. I wonder why no one will come to the fabric store with me anymore…
I checked in w a friend who stores a lot of cuddle - so similar to fleece. She said it's hard to push it thru Kallax unless it's on a bolt. She recommended totes and tubs because you can squish more in
@@HuntersDesignStudiothanks for getting checking this out for me. I’ve thought of totes. It’s just I am finally setting up a sewing room and would so love to have it easier to access. My customers want to pick out their patterns. With totes I’d have to empty them each time. I may have to get some stain less steel storage shelves.Again thank you for your videos.
Why does this make me think of George Carlin’s bit about buying storage??? An eternal truth…..
thanks so much for this video- so nice to see the fabric in a 'real' setting instead of their online photos. and what a great idea. eyeing that gingham and red/pink! also great that the cotton is 100% cotton
Narrow billies hold heavier books better, less area to sag in the middle, less weight on the shelf.
OMGosh! As soon as I can get my den cleared out, I’m heading to IKEA! I love the kitchen area for hacks anyway, but your eyes are better than mine!
Much of my sewing studio furniture comes from IKEA. Please do not buy a Kitchen table for your sewing Machine table. They are not storng enough to hold our very heavy modern machines. Go directly to the OFFFICE area and find a flat surface that has a metal ring under it for strength. AMHIK...been through several kitchen tables which warped. And those office desks have adjustable height legs. If you are short, you can lower the table height. at 8:13 You pointed out the FLATWARE for spoons etc....but did not see, directly behind you on the wall are the flatware boxes without the silly shapes. . They might be the perfecct sizes for the 2 1/4" (57mm) spools) Metrosens or Gutermann threads. MIGHT be. Then you can keep thread in your wonderful set of ALEX drawers. I have my spools in Martha Stewart silverware containers. Perfect fit. Love alex.
I use the first kitchen island you showed as my cutting table with a short end against the wall and I love it, I’ve had it for about 10 years
What is the pattern that you used for your cross-body bag? Adorable.
huntersdesignstudio.com/product/chunky-wee-bag/ - Chunky Wee Bag
I use Ivar for kitchen storage and it handles heavy weights (microwave, espresso machine on the same shelf no problem) better than Billy bookcases. Great video.
I have only bought furniture from IKEA forever. I definitely need those slidey outie things💖
Great ideas 💡
Plus. If u get the rattan or “rough” baskets, for sewing or otherwise they scratch the Kallax really fast. Just one downside. Love the idea and the look when they are all pushed in but put felt pads or something else to stop the scratching.
You're not that far off sometimes when you read what is written on the shelves at Ikea, but at some of them, you end up a little wrong, and that's to be expected if you don't know Swedish. For example, at 11.07 Småäta=which means to snack in swedish.Again, it consists of two words that are put together to form a word, directly translated from Swedish it means, Små =( means) small ,and äta= (means) eat ... small-eat = but it gets translated to=to snack in English . That it is meant to snack in Swedish. The whole idea of Ikea is that you can use all the things on the store however you want, so you think just like a Swede does.
I can’t read your tee shirt :(( 🦘🧵🪷
Don’t forget to check the clearance section before the cash area at your IKEA for even cheaper fabric options! It’s absolutely worth digging around in the bin for random duvet covers, curtains etc. that are perfectly good, just got returned for whatever reason.
Fun fun fun Mr. Claus!
Oh the colors!
😊 I have had these baskets for a very long time. When I bought them eons ago, they were called Antonio. Now they are being sold used in places like eBay and Etsy. I wouldn’t part with them for any amount of money. 😉
Great video! Love ‘multifunctional’. Yes, what works in the kitchen, can also work in the sewing room + in an art room/studio. Think I will have to plan a visit soon. 😌👍🏽🇨🇦
what sandels do you have on in this video?
no idea!
I’m always looking for storage for my pens, pencils, paints, and you’ve sent me off to the IKEA catalog l
I have that butchers block type island in my kitchen. I have loads of baskets on the shelving side. I thought about getting another for my sewing studio when it's finished too
Most useful ideas I’ve ever seen!
3:15 i have this table. It originally lived in my apartment kitchen, which was tiny and had zero counter space. Made a good island. Now I'm using it for a pottery bench. I got the unfinished one and finished it myself.
Thank you for taking me shopping at IKEA!! I don't want to go there but I'm curious what they might have for organizing my sewing stuff! This is the perfect video! ❤
I have two Billy Bookcases that were purchased when the Richmond BC Canada store opened in 1983. They were $25 each. They were white, but have yellowed over the years. Sadly doors, extra shelves, do not fit the older models, but they still work well in my space. I am enjoying the series of videos on IKEA products for the sewing room. I have an IVAR shelf that I painted, it is the perfect width to put two IRIS scrapbooking totes side by side. I make my own kits using them,
Dust bunnies, the only type of pet allowed in my appartment building😂
I Love ikea
Thank you for sharing you give me so many ideas 😂😂
Great ideas and love your t shirt.
I made my own ikea rolling island from Ickes. It matches my kitchen from IKEA. Like the rolling feature!
You are on my page….. CHOCOLATES. Yum…
First time viewer here! I have to agree with you. I am always re-arranging my sewing spaces. I don't know what it is. I guess I just get bored and need a new look. Thank you for going through all those containers. I might have to try those first ones you mentioned. 😊
One of the units you showed is the same as a unit I bought from ikea in 1990 and still use today.
This is really helpful for trying to thinks of ways to fit all my sewing supplies into my sewing room while I am at home and able to measure the space to be sure the products will fit.
Where did you get your shirt?
@@karasummers7286 one of the print on demand tshirt shops like TEE Public
I bought the NORDEN table and installed wheels on it. Best hack ever! I have a crafting/sewing Room/office, so I needed something space efficient and versatile. It's just perfection 👌
It would be nice if you showed the prices of the things you show. 😊
You can always go to the ikea website for the most up to date pricing
There's not much point because the price is different in each country. I have the idea app open on my phone while watching & pause the video while quickly looking it up on my app when she shows something I'm interested in. I save it in my Sewing Room project I've created in the app & haveca closer look later on
Loving all your ikea videos. Giving me some great ideas!
