I understand this song like this: it's hell to hide the truth about the love you feel for someone...the truth that could set you free, you wait in vain, hidding it because it feels safer, you conceal it because you don't believe it will last and you keep it as an enigma to the other, the secret makes you suffer, it drains you because it needs to be released and keeping it secret keeps you in hell...This is my interpretation but it can be interpreted in many other ways...

Its my first time listening to this song and there is something I had noticed before but I wasnt sure...ville singing in the last break is almost a folkloric deep throat singing. I don't believe he is doing it on porpouse but its very interesting cause i am sure ancient finns would Sing like that in their shamanic cults as many other peoples would across indo-europe. It really brings this hypnotic effect into the song. I think he does the same at the end of razorblade but again not sure

One of my favourite songs ever. I grew up on Maiden, Sabbath, Priest etc but grew such an eclectic style of music I like ranging from Cannibal Corpse to Elton John, but this will always be one of the greatest songs ever written in my opinion. HIM remain an absolute underrated gem of a band ❤️
