What gets me about all of these Disney animatronics from Home Depot... would be an instabuy for me if the MOUTH MOVED. The licensing must have cost them too much or something. I would pay more for those props if they had mouth movement.

11:08 Im fairly certain we had a Mortimer greeter at my grade school! weird location i know lol. one of my classemates brought him in, and all the kids in my class including me fell in love with him! every once in a while the teachers or the parent helpers would move him around to different spots in our classroom to spook us lol he stayed around for i want to say about, 4 years maybe? after i left that class im not sure if he stayed or my classmate took him home.

I cannot remember if the skeleton band moved or not, does anyone remember? I was always a bit too scared to go up close

Switz's is said like "Switzes", not Switz. I got my first Halloween mask there, a rubber werewolf mask that I treasured. I still have it but it got all stuck together and kinda rotted away. Oscar was the best, I was always a little scared to go too close. Fun story, they had a whole bin of handcuffs and I, thinking they were trick handcuffs do to the lack of keys, handcuffed myself to the isle. What I didn't know is that they kept the keys up front. I was stuck quite a while and sad and the whole thing was kind of humiliating hahaha

Oscar has been found locally in Syracuse ny and is being restored watched the interview this morning on krock Oscar will return in 5 years

Oscar has been found guy in cny bought a transport vehicle and was full of Halloween decorations and Oscar was amongst the stuff he was disassembled and in pretty rough shape but has been confirmed

My uncle had something similar to the Mortimer Greeter for his Spook Trail. I lost track of it and, if it’s still there, it’s definitely weather damaged and covered in bugs, wasps especially.

Okay so yeah former Switz's kid here... I actually planned on making a couple of videos, one on Switz's and one of Video King on my main channel. I went through the whole deal, witnessed the selling off of items when the store moved next to Champions fitness near East Circle Drive in Cicero... Now where Lowes' and such is. So, in 1993, We ended up buying this rolled up green carpet ( I mean we couldn't afford Oscar or the wolf in the log etc.. and somewhere in Crayon I wrote and illustrated a story about going there and seeing Oscar on his back and his price... I remember as a gag my brother and I put a clown wig on his crotch) BUT we ended up using the carpet in our basement in North Syracuse. I didn't think about it until years later when I kind of made a room down there and had a couple girlfriends, but I realized it was the carpet that they used for the cemetery in front of Oscar and probably other animatronic displays... So, in a way I lost my virginity on Oscar's yard... I always loved Halloween like many people but before the obnoxious "spooky season" trendiness. As an artist and some sort of machinist or maker, I'm usually messing around with macabre things and actually for the last 6-7 years have been working on a souped-up conversion van with a macabre design inside. Lots of custom woodwork and embellishments here and there so I like to play and "make". I too was on board for nostalgia and people stressing their minds on internet hunts and queries for an animatronic. As an adult I have found or collected some small artifacts from the store (a couple of real nice color photos on Syracuse Nostalgia were actually from my ex-girlfriend when we went to her aunts in Buffalo and found a photo album). I have some newspaper intended 8x10 photos that look amazing in person ( funny that Syracuse.com posted black and whites similar to mine for a story on the place not too long after I discovered some). A few other small things but ONE of the black and whites I have that look similar to the ones Syracuse.com used for their story Oscar actually has his eyes closed... I know that one does not exist anywhere that I've seen. I've thought about sending stuff to Syracuse Nostalgia but was saving a few of my modest items for my own video if I do it but I've been busy. I do like that you had a couple of photos I had not seen like Wagoner pushing him up the driveway or the one where the flash lit up the skeletons and not Oscar.. very creepy. I need all the reference photos I can get. The long and short of it. It's a building, a time, and a store that will not likely happen currently. The building and.. that time can't be happening right now. Variety stores have been long pushed out by Wal-Mart and other places... Craft stores sure, but even those are chains now. Where Oscar lives is in your childhood memories and in old photos. Time and place. As cool as it would be to find it? and even get the hydraulics working (I'm assumptive he's hydraulic mostly and not pneumatic not that it matters now)? Would it live up to the expectations? What is it worth to you? What would anyone be willing to give to see this again?
