@@Queenofthesevenseas 110% worth it. They give you everything you need to play Grand Archive. Deck box, sleeves, damage counter, main deck, material deck, and even extra cards to complete your playsets for your main deck. This deck and the Tristan ReCollection are the best product I’ve seen from a TCG to get you competitive out of the gate.

@@Queenofthesevenseas I was selling these for $55-$60 and sold out recently. I wouldn’t spend anymore than $70 for each. You should be able to find them for $65 each on TCGplayer or eBay.

@@thekingscardboard I found the Tristan one for $70 and the other for $60 on tcgplayer, I have noticed they were selling out fast, so I think I’ll just order them. As I’m completely new to grand archive, am I better off just ordering the 2 decks and getting used to them before I order single cards?

@@Queenofthesevenseas definitely run through the decks a few times first prior to buying and singles. Once you learn the objectives and characteristics of the champions then you have understanding on which singles to buy based on the type of playstyle you favor more.

I just found myself getting all caught up in the hype and excitement 🥳 because I watched a few deck reviews… However as you have said it’s best to familiarize myself with the decks and styles of play before I spend any more on the game. ( besides I’m not sure if anyone in my area plates🤔) why I was getting both decks actually, in hopes I can entice others to give the game a try

@@waterpixieva exactly! A great problem to have. So much better than seeing an over saturated singles market that have NO value. This proves the utility of the cards in the game, for playability and collectability. My hope is that the devs ease their way into increasing print runs and don’t overdo it like we saw with FTC. I doubt that happens a second time. Also, thank you! I was always back and forth with the pronunciation and just stuck with the one I liked more 🤣. You got me, I will start the Reh way!

Thanks for sharing your experience so far and welcome to the GA community! Those Re:Collection boxes are the best kits to get. The decks are competitive out of the box, which is rare in the TCG realm. I definitely understand what you are saying. Paying $300 for a top tier deck doesn’t feel so great. I think the great thing about GA is that a lot of these expensive cards that are commonly used in the most competitive decks (Dungeon Guide, Temporal Spectrometer, Quicksilver Grail, Grand Crusader Ring, Gildas, etc) are normal type element cards. Which means no matter how the meta shapes up or whatever new champions are added to the game, those cards will still be viable in the newest decks. There will be an initial investment for sure, but I think picking and choosing which champion you want to build out and how you want to build them out for the competitive meta is extremely important. It will help the money go farther when we have clarity on what we are trying to accomplish, which I’m sure you know coming from competitive Yu-Gi-Oh. What I love about GA is that it’s so new that there are many strategies not yet fleshed out which people with experience, like yourself, may be able to put together and blow the scene away. Another great thing is that the company is aware of the growing pains and lack of affordable singles on the market. The next set coming out in October will have some of these competitive cards reprinted! Dungeon Guide being one of those reprints, that we were already informed of by the leadership team. Apologies for the essay here 🤣. I feel you on that the cost though. I am being very strategic on where I am placing my money in the game for utility and strategy. Singles seem to be the way to go rather than sealed boxes at the moment.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this! The first thing I will ask anyone that holds a firm stance on this is, have you played the game yet? That was the determining factor for me. The TCG industry is extremely competitive and has a HIGH rate of failure when it comes to new TCG’s. Most fail within their first two years. I cannot say for certain what the future holds in the world economy. I do not know the leadership of Grand Archive personally, but from what I’ve heard and seen from them, they appear committed to growing and learning. They pivot and adjust accordingly to the growing community and any issues that come into the community. I think the gameplay is top tier. Extremely skill based. This means the effort you put in to being strategic and developing new decks can be highly rewarded. We will see what the future holds! As long as the gameplay remains exemplary, I will continue to play!!

@@thekingscardboard I have played the game and I enjoyed it but there comes a time when you have to be realistic with yourself and as much as I'd like to see the game do well I just don't think it will.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. I appreciate the dialogue and conversation around this topic. It’s probably the biggest concern with players moving money into a new TCG. “Will this game be around in a year? Or am is my money and time better put in another game?” Personally, I have a hard time with the belief that something will fail without proof. I have a belief system that things are possible, and if you are clear on your vision, are willing to pay the price, and stay committed through challenges, you can hold in your hand what you see in your mind. I understand that it is an UPHILL battle to go from start up TCG to successful +5 year TCG. (Kudos to you Flesh and Blood). If it wasn’t for the expansive player growth outside of the US, I might be more skeptical. But, the reality is that the game is booming outside of the US. The main market is now outside the US. However, the US is not doing so bad either. My locals went from 0 players for almost half a year to now +15 consistent players. Our largest locals event being 30 people this year. Anywho, we will see what the future holds! Time will tell if the GA team is committed to their vision and the longevity of the game. I watch with great interest what they decide to do 😊

Exactly! If I was a first time player or collector to the game, this would most likely discourage me from buying anymore sealed product. That’s also why I am not sure if we will see a reprint of DOA, especially with the new set, Mortal Ambition coming out and having reprints of playable cards. Crazy story from my local LGS. There is a guy there that bought ONE box of Alchemical Revolution and pulled a CSR. THEN…he gets one pack given to him for playing at our locals…and pulls ANOTHER CSR!! I couldn’t believe it. I was sitting there looking in astonishment after opening so many boxes and not pulling any. 🤣🤣.

That is a very tough dilemma indeed. It’s a hard decision to make prior to seeing which cards are in the set. Looking at the last two sets, buying two cases would have been a win! Thanks for sharing! I am excited to get more information on the set as we get closer to release 🎉

@@AngelMartinez-dj3hn with Grand Archive Pre-Orders typically will have MAP pricing. This is minimum advertised pricing. In the video I go over MAP pricing for the new set, Mortal Ambition. At this current moment, I would not pay anything over $475 for a case due orders being widely available for around that price point. That is also why it’s important to get your order in as soon as you can. This price point may not be available in a month or two. If you order now you can have peace of mind knowing you got your order in for as low cost as possible.

The risk of opening boxes at this price point is too high. lol. I bet they’re like..what in the world…this is like 100 cards 🤣. Did you get any starter decks or Re:Collection boxes?

That’s great to hear! The early adopters of GA are for sure being rewarded right now. All the staple cards are expensive right now. It’s great to hear the update made yesterday of Dungeon Guides being reprinted in the next set (AMB) launching in October 2024. Have you competed in any tournaments with your decks??

@@thekingscardboard Just me for a moment, but I gave my brother a Silvie Starter Deck, and a Silvie Re:Collection Deck, though he has other card games on his mind. I have been watching some True Champion Gaming.

@@soulofkalmah1769 I hear that. Our community started from 0 people and has grown now to about 15 regulars. It took a LOT of intentionality and demos for new players. One of our local community members of GA really took it on himself to build from 0 to now. True Champion Gaming puts out legit content. They’re definitely at the top of the competitive game scene right now!

Yes, you are correct! Which is why FTC had that little incident with the market dump. Thank you for bringing attention to that. I should have used different terminology, what I intended to communicate was across TCG’s that sealed cases of booster boxes typically yield a wider range of cards than purchasing individual booster boxes. This doesn’t make the cases mappable, this slightly increases the odds of pulls in a limited regard.

Right now they are about $90 - $95 plus tax. MSRP for these particular booster boxes are $89.99. Prior to the launch of this set you could have bought them for around $65-$75 a box. It’s a very good set.
