The Academic Advising and Transfer Center fosters collaborative advising relationships to assist students at Missouri State and beyond.
What do students value most in their advisor?
Accurate information. Accessibility. Advice and counsel. Relationship.
Academic advising is one of the few services that, at some point, all students will participate in. This creates an opportunity to assist in the student's learning environment and establish a professional one-on-one relationship.
The Academic Advising and Transfer Center administers the advisor training and development program for the MSU advising community. Programming focus is undergraduate student advising. To earn Master Advisor credit, please email Advise@MissouriState.edu. TH-cam credits must be from the current academic year to count for certification.

This forum will present some key elements of how to advise students about world languages: we will discuss available languages at MSU and Foreign Language Institute and the structure of majors, minors, and certificates. We will pay special attention to placement and retroactive credit policies for students who come in with language backgrounds, and code words they might use (like Seal of Biliteracy). We will also examine the advantages of language-learning for students in different programs.
