Local lion pride feasts on a giraffe kill
We are fortunate to be enjoying regular sightings of this lion pride, who were found enjoying the spoils of a successful hunt close to our Safari Trails camp recently.
This time, the adults managed to bring down a large giraffe close to the dam, who was likely ambushed while making its way to or from a drink. When water is scarce in winter, prey animals will often congregate around remaining waterholes, providing the perfect hunting opportunity for predators lying in waiting on the periphery.

Now that winter is upon us, you can see that the colour of both a lion's and leopard's fur allows them to blend seamlessly into the gold, dry grass. With fa...

Elephants and buffalo together at the camp waterhole
มุมมอง 273 ปีที่แล้ว
As winter takes hold and the bush becomes increasingly dry, many seasonal waterholes will disappear. Limited water means wildlife will frequent camp waterholes, providing wonderful wildlife-viewing opportunities from the comfort of the lodge deck. Recently, the team were treated to a small herd of Cape buffalo who arrived to drink, pushing off a female elephant and her calf who appeared to be o...

Whats the point for Kudus, waterbucks and impalas to exist. There constantly get slaughter by wild dogs and hyenas. Thankfully no crocodiles took advantage.

Considering how many impalas there are vs. How many wild dogs there are impalas are actually a more successful species.

Waterbuck, I think the wild dogs want both of y’all to come out of the water while they are there. The waterbuck said, no way! I’m not coming out of the water. Not while you are here. I’ll come out when you dogs leave.
