    If this was a TH-cam video of his he would have sounded like a robot playing perfectly with inhumanly clean takes. I don't doubt his ability to play what he writes, but this shows what his stuff would actually sound like if he didn't edit the crap out of every note. I'll gladly accept being proven wrong if he played some of his inhuman stuff at namm and it sounds as clean as his recordings. This is not a great example of his playing to showcase why he is deemed fake by most.

    Not a hater (been following him since Reflections), but this is quite far from what he usually posts. Bro, I’m sure no one ever doubted his skills, the criticism was mostly about the heavily processed DI’s and his ego. Can’t speak to the latter, but the former definitely turned out to be true. Props to Charles for doing what he did, but calling it "silencing the haters"? We stand at a crossroads where, on one path, people argue that using backing tracks, harmonizers, MIDI automation, or even noise gates is dishonest to listeners, while on the other, people simply don’t care-and neither side offers compelling arguments.

    • @Nosferdamus
      @Nosferdamus 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      the sloppy playing is just more proof he's legit. I'd rather him play sloppily along with the solo than mime playing a solo and then make a 40 minute video giving every explanation you can think of to say it's real guitar playing only to then say "but actually what you hear in the video isn't my guitar playing" well then why did you just spend 30 minutes trying to convince me it was, Lucas Mann? It can't be the sound from your monitor with no stage noise AND ALSO include string noise, from a sound design perspective that makes no plausible sense [because stage noise includes string noise].

      If you look up Legator Guitars instagram, they have a post with his feed isolated, minus a small bit of the backing tracks still audible. The audio in my clips is the full mix that was put out via the tower speakers, and captured by the built-in mic on my phone. Right at the start of their video, I’m the guy that sits down in the front row. To give you an idea of just how close I was and how unobstructed my view was.

    • @LZ02-OVERTURE
      @LZ02-OVERTURE 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Why would he do that?? lol he's there to play as Berried Alive. Also feels disrespectful to the band's bass player to just remove her parts. Do you go to watch bands to just listen to the guitarist play alone without the rest of the members? A good chunk of BA stuff is electronic drums and synths so the only remaining thing would be having his wife there too but this was a NAMM booth for the guitar and her bass is a different brand. Also I don't see how less honest him playing his songs on TH-cam is to this, you don't tell bands to not post their album studio recordings on official music videos do you? The backing tracks here do have the main lead removed anyway so don't understand what the issue is, the backing track just features the additional harmonies at certain points. You can tell because he messes up some parts and you can't hear another guitar behind the mess up.

    • @Nosferdamus
      @Nosferdamus 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ he uploaded only his feed so people who try to say he isn't really playing have no ammunition. he's been having clout chasers say his shit's sped up or edited his entire career pretty much. I'm pretty sure the bassist and drummer weren't playing with him and their parts are still in the backing track, that's just one reason why he would isolate his audio like that.

    • @debangamedhi

      Notice how it's markedly less tight than this video (Zomberry)? Yeah... That's what everyone's concerned with for years, and it's a good thing. Everyone knows that Charles is a very skilled guitar player just like everyone knows that Lucas Mann is also an objectively skilled guitarist. The problem is that they artificially inflate their skill with editing and miming in their videos (and in Lucas' case ROS live shows too) which creates an unrealistic standard for everyone that's watching. The problem is that these dudes CAN play their shit, but they choose to be dishonest about their ability. They're not the robots they want you to think they are. This video (Zomberry) STILL has an inaudible level of live guitar in it, which is a problem. This is NAMM, where you can see hundreds of artist demos that don't share this problem on a daily basis. The video you posted in this comment seems to be real. There's string noise, there's no robot-level tightness... I'm inclined to believe its real, but notice how its a much less technical song. This is the same thing Ichika Nito did a few years ago where he played only his easy, dreamy, chill stuff at NAMM and didn't rip anyone's face off with technique like he does in most of his videos. If you do the equivalent of cry wolf with your guitar playing for years, people are allowed to treat you with suspicion when you try to repair your public image. Caswell is among the least responsible in this fakery situation because Berried Alive has always been a studio project. There has never been a faked live show where he tries to pull the wool over anyone's eyes. With these NAMM performances, that has changed and it will be important to analyze them to understand the validity of what the people in the audience heard. My opinion is that we heard more backing track than anything else here. Charles is obviously skilled and I'd genuinely love to hear him plug straight into an amp with no mics/laptops/headphones/tracks and just rip some riffs. Surely he could do that, right? Some cellphone audio with no DAW running in the background would have been nice here.

      @@RX120D I initially thought the guitar should be a bit louder in the mix too. However you can clearly hear some mistakes here and there. E.g.: 0:09 (and another moment in the Pearanoid video). There is some reasonable truth to argument of the the backing track thing, but on the other hand, it also depends on the camera and microphone setup (angles relative to the amp, etc) that captured the footage. All around, to me his performance at NAMM seems quite honest enough to me.
