The Kidnapped Surgeons
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 14 ก.พ. 2023
TKS have been making dark/ethereal wave music since 1980. Forged in the Bettws badlands of Newport, Mon, the main protagonists are Mikey D and Gregor E - their esoteric sound is all simmering alienation, dislocation and inhibitions. They cite The Doors, Love, Velvet Underground, early Floyd/Barrett, Captain Beefheart, The Cure, Joy Division, New Order and Teardrop Explodes as their formative influences. On reviewing them in 1982, Sounds Magazine wrote: “Less tasty (than the next big thing) are The Kidnapped Surgeons. Ostensibly they comprise five members, but they have never all been present at the same recording session. Amateurish in extremis.” A year later their back catalogue was lost in a wanton funeral pyre and they didn’t resurface again until 1992, with the now infamous three-hour gig in Anniesland, Glasgow - it should have been the Barrowland. What you see here is a later life whimsical outpouring that took hold 30 years on….psychedelic, strange, eclectic, enigmatic.....
