Peas Please! A Step-by-Step Guide to Planting Your First Row
😊 Oh --duck tape!!!! Works for everything. 😂 3 days go I found those eggs on 6 leaves and rubbed the eggs w a paper towel so.eof the leaves were slightly damaged because the eggs r sticky. Today I found more layed on 2 more leaves. I will try this now. it's too many to remove whole leaves. Ugh! How the eggs are sticking to the leaf 😡😱 I have seen several stink bugs but not the orange and black squash bugs yet. UGH!!!! I am so disturbed by these, I hope I can stay ahead of them.
It does work for everything 😏🙌🏻
Good amount of garlic.
Thank you for watching! 💚 Yes, that amount of garlic will last us until the next harvest 🤗😬
Great harvest. Last year I tried red Russian. They were nice and they look good for this year. Haven’t harvested mine yet. They are just forming the scapes now. I live on n Zone 3 here in Canada
I haven’t tried red russian yet. Good luck with your harvest in a while 🙌🏻🤗💚
Love hard neck. Only thing I grow ❤❤❤
What hardneck varieties are your favorites?
@@growninnewengland purple stripe and I lost my Armenian ones. I’m trying to find more seats. Those were really delicious and spicy and had a grate flavor, but they’re hard to find. Still trying to find some seeds or a bulb. May have to travel to New York or Chicago, and see if I can find one in a cultural grocery store.
@janice.backporch oh interesting, I have never heard of Armenian garlic. Now I am curious to find it too 🤣🧐
@@growninnewengland game changer. I hope one day you get to enjoy the flavor
Hi😁I grew some Maverick geraniums too. Small business seed packet just said “Maverick “ and nothing else. I’m happy. They were old seeds and they grew big and healthy and pink flowers which is only geranium I’m missing. Congratulations on those. Garden looks awesome
Nice! I got my seeds from Swallowtail Gardens
👍10. Beautiful geraniums
Thank you for watching 💚
The geraniums are so beautiful!! Lovey!! What kind of squash are those? Same as tromboncino maybe? I need to harvest the garlic, too. Maybe in the morning. Stay cool, Stef!!
Thank you, Anna-Maria. That is the Centercut Squash from row7. Tastes so much better than zucchini and is Squash vine borer resistant 😏 and sooo productive 🙃🙈
2:23 wow! Gorgeous❤
Thank you! 🥰 do you grow geraniums from seed?
@@growninnewengland honestly I’ve not even purchased before, and not from seed. I have some weird association/ptsdish .. 🤪 to them.. I’ve got some weird quirks 🙃. That said I’ve not paid much attention to them over the years and have only more recently noticed all the lovely colors and a pretty leaf structures they are now in. I may have to add them to my wish list! I just made a large seed purchase at BC for perrenials and winter sowing 😊. And I’m getting ready to start out my fall brassicas!
@@growninnewengland is that display in full sun?
@ruthannecoro6198 perennials are a lot of fun to grow, too 🤗
@@growninnewengland I had decent success with my winter sowing last season and have some lovely plants that I’ve got set up in assorted pots to grow on for next year… or they’ve been planted out! Up until this year all my flower beds have been landscape. Some of which are quite mature and have stories to tell and memeories to share ♥️ my perrenial garden is roughly 4-5 feet x 15 feet and then 4.5ish by 20. And then another 3-4ft x 15 or so. And another 3.5x20 .. oh and a new 6x10 or so space was our former grill space..that’s mostly shade is in the process of becoming a shade garden. I’ve got lots of dividing to do! I don’t even know the actual number of plants I have back here 😊 in 2019 I added my veggie garden that has now grow to an area of about 25x45 with an assortment of raised beds and containers/pots grow bags. I have a new tea garden box this year.. 4x8 that my husband built me that is coming g in lovely. I also addd a cut flower garden space that is roughly 20 x 25 some long rows, a few short, and a few patches.. potage style 🧑🌾
I just use dawn soap. Gets rid of everything not needed.
I have never tried that on eggs 🤔
@@growninnewengland creates a film that blocks airflow to bugs. Suffocates them.
I have these and they are extremely solid and just perfect. They should last forever! Very happy with this purchase😊
So far, I am very happy with mine too. And they already have braced some serious winds 😳🙈😅
Thanks I've been having problems with them lately
Make sure you get rid of them early otherwise they multiply quickly 😑
Subscribed to your good ideas!
Thanks for being here! 🙌🏻💚
Nice lifehack!
Duct tape is also good for removing ticks and other little mites you might have on you. If you got a splinter you can't get out put a little piece of duct tape on it and then just leave it.
Let’s just say duct tape is magic 🤗🙌🏻💚
We keep a section of folded take in our first aid kits, same with electrical tape. Electrical tape. Only sticks to itself, where dick tape sticks to everything.
Subscribed. Holy moly that's easier than what we've always done. (Scraping or tearing the leaf piece out)
Welcome to my world of simplicity 😉🙃🙌🏻 Thanks for subscribing 💚
Simple and effective, can't beat that!
Simple and usually everyone has some sort of duct tape or sticky tape at home 🙃🙌🏻
That what she said
Bugs living outside on plants and laying eggs..no way , we cant have that now
Cordless detail vacuum works great.
…Genius. Going to try that immediately. Thank you!
Masking tape also works for this, and for SVB eggs.
Yes 🙌🏻 any tape which is sticky enough will do it. And I am not growing any varieties anymore which the SVB likes. That battle was too hard to win 😑
I feel silly for not thinking of this but thank you for the tip!
You are welcome! It works also really well for the nymphs and adults, if you use the super sticky duct tape 😈
That tree!! Wow. Very amazing! And the rock entryway -- so cool!! Never heard of this place. Thank you for sharing, Steph!
I never heard about it either until I stumbled over the website by accident. I can highly recommend a visit. It was beautiful
Beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing.
Thanks for watching 💚
fun look at how it's all coming along! Thanks.
Thank you, Greg. How did your garden deal with the heat?
Lovely bird bath!! That color is really pretty. Nice find!! ... It IS exciting - I brought some snap peas to my coworker who I know loves them. I also brought in a very humble bouquet from the garden, and it was my coworker who used the work "exciting" with regard to the garden and I totally agree. If anyone has ever thought to plant something, just do it!! It won't be perfect as there is a huge learning curve, but oh, how fun to watch things grow and improve... the next thing I need to do will be stringing up the cucumbers and melons to have them grow vertically.
Gardening fills the soul and is so satisfying to experience. I truly believe that it catches on fast once you start with something 🙃💚
What do you do when they turn lighter color and have nice pea shapes inside? I like the well formed peas. Or was this for eating with the whole pod?
I typically eat the pea and discard the pod. Because the pod isn’t tender at that point anymore.
Hello - I'm in MA also! I put in a cutting garden this year, and my plants are all still infants compared to yours! Your sweet peas are loving life, I yanked mine they were 4". Any tips, fertilizer, etc, to get my plants to grow, I'd appreciate it, thanks!
Hi Heidi, Yay to starting a cutting garden 🤗 check out my cutflower garden series which shows all my steps on how I setup my garden for success: urlgeni.us/youtube/Cutflowerseries1 Thank you for watching 💚
Looking great!! Looks orderly & nice. I have a different extreme going on in my garden, lol. Definitely going to simplify it a bit next year. Jungle beds - that's what I got, lol.
There is nothing wrong with a little jungle 🙃😉🙌🏻 Thank you for watching
Toronto Canada Zone 6A I am absolutely amazed by how much you grow in your garden. You inspired me to attempt to grow Lisianthus. Only one seed Germinated from my pack of seeds. Your Dahlias are gorgeous, stunning! ❤
Thank you for your sweet comment, Bridget 💚 don’t let the low germination rate discourage you. I had that with one variety as well which had like a 10% germination rate. I would recommend you try 2-3 varieties next winter if you are still up for it. I know it’s a commitment 🙃🙈🤣 Thank you for watching 💚
Beautiful Bathsheba! I can't wait for mine to get that big! Stay cool!
It’s a beautiful beast now and I am here for it 🙃 Thank you for watching, Leidy 💚
She is a beauty!!! Gorgeous rose!! Stay cool, Steph!! Summer, here we come!!
Thank you! I can’t stop staring at her 😍🤩🌹 Stay cool, too. Thank you for watching 💚
Love them all.❤
Wait until you see this years line up 🤗😍🤩
This was very educational & well presented. Your garlic patch is beautiful 🤩 Thank you 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
Thank you, Dee! Wait until you see the garlic I am going to harvest from it 😉🤩🤗
Thank you! I was staring at that instruction manual completely lost!!! Appreciate the help!
You are very welcome! Good luck with your trellis 🤗
love this, thanks Steffi! Might try planting garlic in Vermont
The easiest veg you will ever grow in your VT garden and don’t need to care about critters 😬 Let me know if you want some seed bulbs. I can put some away for you, as I have more than enough
@@growninnewengland I would love that, thank you! Do you plant them in the fall?
@ValTass14 yes, for VT you probably want to plant them mid October or so (approx. 30 days before the ground freezes hard)
This is my first year growing garlic so thank you for educating me.
You are very welcome. Let me know if you have any questions. I am always happy to help 💚
Happy happy birthday! You should stop by when you’re in RI
Happy happy birthday!
Thank you 💗
Happy belated birthday, Stephanie!!
Thank you, Anna Maria 💗
Happy Birthday Week! 😁 Wandering how you deal with spider mites?
Thank you 💗. Regarding the spider mites, they are no joke. I would bag that plant and discard it in the trash. They can spread too easily and become a big problem.
this year my cucumbers got it so early!! im also in New England (southern NH) I don’t recall seeing them that early ever 😕
Thank you for answering my fence question !
Anytime 🤗 This channel is made for my audience, so please always share requests with me.
Happy Belated Birthday
Thank you, PJ. I hope the fencing explanation was helpful 🤗
The entire garden is stunning and your outfit is adorable
Thank you, Meghan. I love me good jumpsuit 😬😇💚
Absolutely stunning 😊
Great, thanks!
Would love a tutorial on how you put up that fencing .
Thanks for watching! How about I show you that detail in my next Vlog on Tuesday? You will be surprised how simple it is 🙃🤗
Looking great Steffi! My celosia was so so also but not that its actually in the ground its looking better. But something is eating my dahlias, like digging them and eating the green UGH! I sprayed some plantskydd which is disgusting but I bought some really expensive ones and I don't want them to be a snack! Your zinnias look amazing. They will be stunning. Great job:)
Thanks for watching, Carol. And sorry to hear something is eating your dahlias. I would try fencing them in. That worked for me for the large critters, now I only need to battle the slugs lol
@@growninnewengland unfortunately its either a chipmunk or a squirrel and they can climb over a fence. My yard is completely bunny proof so the only things getting in are things that can climb the fence.
@capecodcottagegarden bummer
Everything is looking so nice, Steph! The peony - lovely!! What was the name of the green bean you like? (the pole one)... the other day I saw a neighboring garden who I know has tremendous fortune with their blueberries, and i finally got to ask what kind he grows and it's blueray, if that info is ever helpful to you. full sun for them too. ...But your garden is looking so nice. A well-loved garden:) Fun to watch everything come into their flowering selves. Oh, the overwintered dahlias -- wow! I might leave some in the ground this year (to see if they can handle it, just to experiment). Gardening is such an adventure...
I should have put varieties name on the video, but I was traveling for business with very little editing time. Next Garden tour I make sure, I have the titles showing up 🙌🏻 The bean variety was called Seychelles from Highmowing seeds 🤗😋🤗
Just downloaded it. Thank you!
