A cookhouse during exercises, damn that must be nice. My position in the military requires me to heat water using a storm kitchen and then most likely eat sitting hidden under some snowy tree.

those tents are the best place for soldier to be :) never slept so well as in the bush in one of those :) its warm and the sound of fire.... (being dead tired surely had nothing to do with sleeping like baby with 10 other guys snoring like tractors)

Very interesting video, thanks a lot! You were an Advance Party but did you had to book your flights etc by yourselves?? Your wifes/gf's were touristeering meanwhile? Had you ever drove with snow tires before? How did it feel? I hope you had a "snow brush" in your car? :) Those rasions (Pasta with cheese) didn't seem like Finnish made, were they? Cool to see from your guys' side. Im american/canadian serving in finnish military, we were living out there for 2 weeks in tents, was a pretty awesome excercise. Our motor march did get held up one night for like an hour by you guys, because one of the archers was immobilized on the road, and we were freezing our @ss€s off sitting in the back of uninsulated, unheated troop transport trucks waiting to get by so we could go set up camp. (we tore down and moved camp at least once per day)😃 would have been cool if they would have held a greeting day or something for everyone to hangout for a few hours, would have been cool to come say hi to to some of you brits and americans.

I think that water heater could use some work. They're running the hot water over the controls, which means there's going to be some water dripping onto the controls. Like at 05:27 If the spout / faucet would be on the opposite side, then there wouldn't be any issues with that. Just an observation.

The chefs and cooks always fight for real whereas everyone else are just training. One of the most important jobs in the military.

I hope my fellow Finns made you feel welcome and you have had a good exercise in the Rovajärvi exercise area. 16:50 Those are Reindeer. They are semi-domesticated animals (they have an owner, but they roam free in the wild most of the year. There are actually more reindeer (over 200 000) than people in the northernmost Finland.

French soldiers can't forego fashion and let go of the berets even in sub-zero temperatures. At least not until the actual practical part of the exercise starts.
