I’m a great admirer of many local crafts but I have to say that Khatam is a favourite. I’m trying to get hold of some Khatam strips for me to include in some furniture that I’m making. It’s only a hobby and the pieces only go to family and friends but I think some Khatam would be an interesting alternative to the usual inlays I use

Loving hands and eyes of of an artist craftsman. Skills in using a nail and hammer. No mechanical means producing individual pieces of art to cherish. Each encised line is a stroke, creating a design or a story. Such work is used by humans sonce stone on rock carvings when harder stones were formed in cutting edges. Struggle is on to preserve such skills in light of AI and technological tools, without human creativity through software.
