One of the WORST Islands. I have lived there 15 years and I know. You MUST live and WORK in a place to judge IF it is GOOD enough. Simple.

I am sorry but what you think of as "unfortunate" that there aren't as many sunbeds anymore as in the past, Greeks are saying hallellujah, as the situation had gotten completely out of control with most beaches being overtaken completely, illegally most of the times, by a sea of sunloungers and sunbeds, overpriced ones, and the average Greek who could not afford this was being given the finger, leaving no space on a PUBLIC beach for people to come with their families, put their towels down and enjoy the sea, as we had the pumped up "goons" from the beach bars giving us attitude and bullying us off the beach, if we didn't want to pay their overpriced services. Not to mention the woofers playing thumping music at deafening volume..Not all people wanted their beaches turned into Mykonos high-end tourist traps..And certainly they have the right by law to have access to public beaches, even the famous ones..This "war" is ongoing and there is an app for the citizens to report to the police and the authorities every beach bar violating the law.being given the fingerbeing given the finger

How recent is this video?

We were in Agia Eleni in the first two weeks of July and the ‘Summer Beach’ bar was alive and well. Personally I prefer the quiet version, Eleni Taverna does great food

Hi Terry and Sandra. Just got back from Skiathos and went to a restaurant called Olive Thea. Have you been there? If not, I recommend you give it a try next time you go. It’s up in the hills with a fantastic view. The restaurant will pick you up and drop you back to your destination for free.

A great reminder of our special times there. We honeymooned on Skiathos (at Karavotsakisma - high above Koukounaries and Eleni beaches) in 1987 and then 2-3 weeks every August for the next 26 years. It’s all our kids knew as a summer holiday - how lucky were they?! We’ve boated it, skied it, swam it, dived it, loved it. Only tip… have a car from beginning to end as the (in our opinion) only beaches to spend a day on are on the north side. We must go back. Your video reminded us of that👌

Why did you miss out the actual beach and beach bar?

We have just spent a week there, had ground floor studio , couldn't fault it, very clean, bedding spotless ! The owners were so friendly and not only gave us a welcome drink and nibbles but home made cake you 😊😊 Perfect place to stay in Skiathos town 5 minutes walk to the centre , just out of the hustle and bustle. Definitely go there again ❤

We normally hire a Jimny for 3 or 4 days on Skiathos.Well worth it for the northern beaches and exploring the interior of the island.Nice video Terry and Sandra.
