I had no idea the TV series had a bigger budget... Yeesh
The way he quizzed the poilce with the Chernobyl question definitely a autistic person very intelligent indeed
Did you ever listen to the related album Haunted? It was creaed by Poe, who is the author's sister, at the same time he was writing this bo. It:s a grea album.
I'm desperate to see a decent film adaptation of this, or at least part of it. Perhaps just the tapes. I've suggested it to Justin Benson and Aaron Moorehead and they liked the comment so fingers crossed 😆. I think they would be perfect for the material.
You are amazing, thank you for this❤
Would like to buy the book but have held off, afraid that I might get lost or uninterested while reading. This video is definitely a good visual representation of it and stirred up my interest. There's a question I wanna ask, what is the piano piece music used in Chapter 2 of this video when describing a home?
Miss your videos, great taste and analysis!
Thank you! I needed this. I keep trying to read the book but keep getting lost in the details. Now I might be able to actually finish it
It's giving jordan Peterson
I read this book back to back with Where the Crawdaddys Sing this weekend. Im hooked on the topics of isolation and surviving in nature. (This is a great video)
So good!
Who is the music by ?
Still reading the book and just found your amazing video. Thank you for this. I'm loving the experience of reading nd your video just made it richer.
This video is fantastically made...
Terrifying? Hardly. The suspense and thriller genres are not mutually inclusive with horror. It is scary like Donnie Darko is scary. It isn't. Unlike Donnie Darko it isn't a super hero movie nor does it have the either or conclusion or even a finite number of conclusions for that matter. It also has a much better internal logic lacking the corny tropes, self-important neologisms in the lore lexicon, lacking the specificity, and most importantly it is far less conclusive. But Donnie Darko being finite is more easily illustrative of something that is harder to notice about Danielewski's labyrinth: all clues are red herrings. The analysis is an exercise in futility much like Navi's efforts to uncover all the House's secrets. If one is lucky enough to have their Karen drag them out they must not ever return lest they risk staying lost should they find themselves lost again. You can not trust a dang word that comes from legendary sigmamale Johnny Truant like oh my god Johnny we get it you score with chicks all the time and you are "the beast" just like Alister Crowley fighting till you knuckles bleed and winning trips to Europe all things that so totally really happened guys trust me fr.
This is so well done!!
Just picked up the book today I read the first chapter and man I’m in for a journey loved your video❤️
Indeed you are! Thanks for watching!
amazing video, will be a long time sub.
I just finished the book. Sometimes it was too much. Of everything, really. I need sometime to process. Thanks for such a great video!
It’s incomprehensible that this doesn’t have more views. Instant sub! Keep up the excellent work :)
6:36 fragments of euclid! i played that game so so much a few years ago
I first read Martian Chronicles many years ago as a teenager, and at that time I just didn't appreciate it. I recently reread the book, and now realize what a beautiful writer Bradbury was. I'm slowly working my way through the rest of his books now and enjoying every on of them.
Glad you gave it another try, such a wonderful book!
This is criminaly under rated, such an amazing video about House of Leaves
Thank you!
Firstly, fantastic assessment of the "book", I thought it very engaging and well written however I do think to improve your future projects you should try working on your vocal performance (not trying to be mean, just a note). Secondly, I've never heard a better definition of liminal spaces. Great video
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it.
Is it that bad?
It is worse than the first part.

Nice list! I respect the inclusion and placement of Sirens of Titan. Love that book. The only critique I would have is I feel like this list could've used some Alfred Bester. Either The Demolished Man or The Stars My Destination.
When u realize when this movie was made, u appreciate the special effects.
Great taste!❤
A great year for cinema!
This video itself is a work of art.
Thank you!
This video is GREAT. Wow. What a work of art.
I couldve spent days watching their interpretation of Arrakis
An amazing video, one of the best Hol videos I've ever seen, great job!
Excellent
This is a great video and exactly as I would have pictured the navidson reccord.
Don' t forget the fiat multipla
congrats for the video
I watched Forbidden Planet last week and was blown away by the storytelling craft. The professor truly not knowing who the monster was-what an incredible twist! Rarely does a movie pull off a big reveal like that, with the visual spectacle spent in the middle act. The plot turned completely on itself with no visual help. No new aliens, just expository dialogue and new insight into the characters, almost like a noir ending. Clever and very effective; I was thoroughly impressed. Reminded me of the sci-fi one-shot comics from Steve Ditko in the ‘50s, which always end with a cheesy twist. “The alien-investigator was the alien all along!” This was less cheesy, but in the same spirit of posing psycho-philosophical questions about humanity. Anyway, nice list, I’ll check out some of these others. Day the Earth and War o’ Worlds look interesting. My mom showed me Invasion of the Body Snatchers when I was 11 and it messed me up real bad, I had nightmares for weeks.
Forbidden Planet is a film that has definitely stood the test of time. I also love that the professor has very Shakespearean levels of cheese that somehow work perfectly with the tone of the film. Thanks for watching!
Great list, there are a few titles Im not familiar with at all. More dancing dogs!
There can never be enough dancing dogs!
Unusual choice for Asimov. I Robot was influential, or the massive Foundation series. Curiously missing from your list is Dune.
Dune was written in 60s
This video was amazing! Great job
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!
beautiful compilation full of beautiful films
Thank you! Made with a lot of love.
Genius and scary at the same time
So I just bought the book
Awesome! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Very interesting. The film and the original novel are both wonderful though there's some scientific anomalies (one seventh of an inch per day?) and some dialogue is dated. etc. As an adventure story and psychological thriller, it does work. Our control over our lives can ebb away and we have to struggle for survival against a cat or an insect. Is life still worth living? As Scott becomes separated from his wife (though she is down there in the cellar as she's moving away, and unaware he's there!), he has other things to be concerned about. How not to be decapitated by a mousetrap (film) that he'd set himself. Hunger. The spider (surprised there aren't any other insects down there...) There are also some real life little people we see in person or online--adults three foot tall or less who have to survive in a too-big world, let alone being made fun of. At least they are a constant size. Scott is getting smaller and (in the original book/comic book) has to worry his daughter Beth might crush him by accident. Is he a doll, or her daddy? We take our size for granted but what happens when we revert to kid size, insect size, or even smaller? Somehow in my mind I figure there could be a guy a fraction of an inch tall, walking across a fork leading to a plate, and digging into tiny portions of leftover food...then a spider the size of an airplane shows up. Its nice to see someone talking about meaningful things, keep it up!
Thank you for watching!
That was very thoughtful. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
Dude you deserve more subs:I loooved this video, as a passionate short stories Sci-fi reader hope to hear more about "vintage" SF or just vintage surreal cinema in general on your channel! Great editing as well!
Thank you! As you can see, I'm very passionate about Sci-Fi too and I'm open to recommendations, if you have a Goodreads account we could add each other, my handle is the same as the name of this channel. Thank you for watching!
Nice video, though I disagree with Number 9. Have you ever read any books by the Strugatsky brothers? They have a really popular one called "Roadside Picnic" - but I'd argue their best work is severely underrated. It's called "The Doomed City" - and it's my favorite book from them, and it is probably my favorite book ever. They have a really magical writing style in all their other books (snail on the slope, monday begins on saturday), but "Roadside Picnic" and "The Doomed City" are much more grounded in reality. I don't really see "The Doomed City" being discussed anywhere, and I spent a lot of time trying to find information on it - it's just a shame that not many people have read it.
Woa, I know of Roadside Picnic, but I wasn't aware of The Doomed City, I'll definitely add it to my reading list, maybe if I do a 70s list in the future I may add some of their work, thank you for watching!
Love "The Illustrated Man". Some of those stories would make great adaptations for "Love, Death and Robots"
Would love to see them in animation style, that's a great idea, actually!
