LCSWs have the weakest training in skill. Most of their programs lack psychopharmacoloy and therapy coursework. Most LCSWs i have worke ld with are very poor therapists. Im a MFT with a doctorate degree and a masters in psychology.

This is a great series of videos. I wish you had (a) suppressed the mms, etc, and talking over Dr Levenson, and (b) allowed Dr Leenson spoke more than you do.

i am afraid that trying to get a client to see the absurdity of it might back fire. Many kids grow up with no coregulation, therefore they have no memory of it, and being self punitive starts so early in life that it has no cognitive memories. Giving it a flavour of absurdity can reinforce the client's shame as this coping helped him to survive and might be the only thing the client had to fall back on.

Psychiatrists aren't the only providers with prescribing privileges. PMHNPs also have prescribing privileges.

Good info. I am a Psychologist...PsyD. When folks want to get a Masters degree...I strongly recommend the MSW/LCSW. Lots of opportunities in medical facilities...psychiatric hospitals...and private practice. By far the best...

I’m a masters in clinical research and am deciding to pursue a new field in counseling as I have such a passion for helping in the fight against mental illness and contributing to de-stigmatizing. I have a question about supervised hours. You mentioned that MFTs start these hours during their coursework, unlike with SWs. Does this apply to LPCC too? Will these programs get us started with supervised hours while in the LPCC program as well? Thank you in advance. Thanks/Sam

I don't like the idea of labeling states. I think the labeling of states would have a negative effect on the client.
