My first memories of CFL football were from 1980. The BLUE BOMBERS started the year 0-4, and then went on an epic win streak, including a win over the mighty Eskimos, and that caught my attention and has held it ever since. AWESOME VIDEO. Love this rule. It's FOOTBALL, after all, so it's logical to allow players to kick the ball.

Hopefully the video looks smoother than previous ones. If you're wondering why sometimes a kicked ball through the end zone is one point and other times two, it's because of which end zone is it's kicked in to. In the ones where a high snap is kicked out the back, it's two for their opponent cause the kicker kicked it out of bounds in their **own** end zone. In the second clip, it's one for the kicking team cause they kicked it out of bounds in the **opponent's** end zone, just like a punt/kickoff/missed FG. I also have 1974 Toronto @ Winnipeg which had one on a botched conversion attempt but unfortunately I can't share it for copyright reasons.

The irony of Calgary losing to Ottawa in Toronto and then losing to Toronto in Ottawa was not lost on me, so I wrote a spoof on those two games which I called "Torontawa" where the underdog eastern reps were referred to as "the Leasts" and Calgary the Beast. It's theme is what happens when one feels entitled. Same story, but with a change in names could certainty be applied to the scenerio of the last 3 Grey Cups!

there is one problem with that first play. even though the Ottawa player recovered that punt, 84 still has to be giving 5 yards right?? am I still correct? because if that is the case, that TD should not have countred.

Fascinating hypothetical way to score... you don't see many drop kicks on any gridiron anymore. Quick aside and speaking of obscure rules, that NFL clip from the Eagles-Giants game was ruled illegal because it's not considered a drop kick by NFL (or NCAA) rules. Drop kicks require the ball to be kicked immediately as it hits the ground, and this one was loose a little too long. I remember watching that game live and expecting the late flag to come out.

You should do the NFL’s Bears vs Lions game where Eberflus got fired vs CFL’s Argonauts vs Alouettes where the Double Blue Block happened.

Can that rule please be called more often and be a reviewable play?

That’s why CFL is better than NFL! Reason: Better time management.

One more for the good guys. Canadian Football is so much better than American Football... it's made with fun and excitement in mind, not with "let's make money" in mind.

Why didn't the play clock stop for Dallas at 8 seconds? How the hell does the ref even have enough time to spot the ball? Weird. Still think the Canadian game is better.

I thought this would be the place to ask. Their is a famious MIT statistician studdy that came to the statistical conclusion that under most circumstances in NFL style 4down football, a team should always go for it on 4th down,never punt, and always onside kick at a kickoff. According to this one study the odds are in the favor of the team that does this strategy. I was wondering has there ever been any statistical studies that look at the CFL rule set that has came to any counter-intuitive conclusions/strategies for winning?
