Bonito off the rocks, south coast
Early December we head off the rocks on the south coast. Starting off throwing some lures we land a few bonito. Things then went quite so switched to live baits and managed a couple more. Great to see the Bonito back in town.

A great time fishing and camping down North Durras & Kioloa. We spend three nights and four days down there and had a great time. Getting into Australian Salmon, Bonito, Kingfish, Tailor, flathead, octopus & Squid. We definitely will be heading back down there !! #rockfishing #fishing #bonito #Australiansalmon #catchandcook #flathead #octopus #squid #camping #kioloa #Durras

Today produced 1 Bonito, 1 Mac Tuna and 1 Mackerel. As these fish don’t have a great reputation as eating fish I have done a catch and cook to show that actually these fish can be excellent table fish. #fishing #rockfishing #catchandcook #bonito #mactuna

It that Tenerife?
Bass point has lots in the morning at the moment
I think your reel needs a new bail arm bearing looks like Kiama if so i haved fished out there many times in a boat and on the way home have caught Bonnies on the troll right up to August.
Great Video, was wondering what that rod is in beginning?
Hey dude, just came across your video. I was the guy who spoke to you about your penn slammer and spotting that shark cruising by !
Haha small world !! Hopefully they come in thick soon aye. See you out there next time 👍
I appreciate you're keeping them and not fishing them just for sport. Tight lines 🎣.
Who doesn’t love a fresh feed of fish. Can’t beat it 👍
Wow nice fish mate where about did you catch also how big was the fish
Huge, how big?
@@jezzewolder6566 82cm
@@jezzewolder6566 the hunt for the meter flatty continues haha
How’d you get the yakkas?
I see you launched at Murry's boat ramp but my question is where did you go after that?
I know i have come across this a bit late but well done
Hey mate, great catch. What gear and line were you using? Thanks
@@dannychoi1380 hi Danny thanks for the support mate. I was using a Penn prevail rod 8-15kg, 40lb braid with a 40lb leader. Reel is a penn slammer 6000.
@@fishingcontrol9971 brilliant, thanks for your reply!
Wow! Nice work… the catch & the cook! Even the dog looked impressed! 😜
Buddy that was amazing to watch please do more octopus videos
Cheers mate Hopefully I’ll do more soon but also need small swells to be able to get into the rock pools safely
New one up now mate 👍
What month were tas there in? Any plans on going back
What month were you there in?
This was at the beginning of June last year
That gorge used to be way steeper and narrower and sometimes we'd do that 3-4 times a week.it was mostly clay and when it rained oh man talk about smelling death going up or down. Almost got washed in once at that first spot you went to.many good captures there.in summer its gd to cool off in the pool beside that big rock
Amazing season 👍🏼
nice vid. Did you come via wattamolla way?
Yep 👍 Can you come from the other side? That would be nice if you can because the climb is sketchy from Wattamolla side
Great video mate 👍
Thanks mate 👍
That is my favourite fishing ledge. Can you remind me where it is?😂
So good! What Jig are you using?
Hi mate thanks not sure what the name was exactly but it was a palms jig 60 & 70 grams
Cracking fish mate 👌
Thanks mate 👍 Was so happy I had the shakes from the adrenaline 😂😂😂
Where did you catch it?
Cuold u tell me Where r this place?
It’s Austinmer mate but sketchy spot if swell is anything over 1m
Great session! What depth - between bobber and hook?
Thanks mate , yeah was a lot of fun can’t wait to get back down there. Float runs to my double uni knot so I would say it’s 3 meters
whats your outfit you use at moes?
Hi mate I use the following : Rod - penn prevail 2 10ft Real - penn slammer IV Line - 40lb braid onto a 40lb leader/ trace The other set up is Rod- Diawa seajigger 10ft Reel - same real Line - 60lb leader with 60lb trace/ leader
If I float a whole dead yakka would it still work? Thanks!
Dead yakka will still work. For kingfish I believe you will catch more with live baits but if I’m using a dead yakka I will butterfly it. I don’t have a video showing how to butterfly a yakka but if you search that you will see what I mean. Thanks for the support watching the video 👍
Thanks for the shout out... keep the oosstt oosstt goin boys 👍🏽
Mate no problem at all !! Stoked to get a message from you guys. Have learnt a lot from your videos and love watching them.
@@fishingcontrol9971 good to know our videos aren't just entertainment 😁 keep the positive energy going bro 🤙

You’ll hate leaving! Nice work boys! 😁👏🏻👏🏻
wow nice place ,which part in south coast this mate?
Great place isn’t it. It’s in Jervis bay
Which part were the yakkas caught? Up high or on that ledge closer to the water?
If you tried throwing lures you might have got a few too? When they're there they're there. Do you find there are just as many days that they don't hit livies but hit lures?
We threw lures for the first 30 minutes and nothing there were also 6 other people throwing lures and they weren’t catching either. We switched to live baits and it was on. The others kept throwing lures but we were the only ones that caught. Yeah I agree tho on another day they might not hit the live bait but would hit the lure
Nice work boys! 🫶🏼👏🏻👏🏻
Easy on the music buddy
Top G fishing 😂
Massive amount of baitfish. Sometimes they fussy hey
Yeah we got excited thinking we were gonna catch a tonne but they were hard to get on that day
Well done mate keep it up
Thanks Ethan 👍
You fish AND you cook?! You’re the catch of the day!! 😁❤️
nice catches
Thanks Liam
Well done on the first dolly mate
Thanks mate !! Yeah only a very small one but everyone starts somewhere and to tick it off was a happy man
I have been throwing them back or using them as bait! Good video, I am guessing you must bleed them straight away?
Cheers Richard Yeah 100% bleed straight away
Wow what a session, short as it was! 😉
Amazing brother 🥰
Mate have you ever tried using a sinker and target the bottom for snappers at this place
After I caught two I tried this for a while but was getting snagged in hindsight I should have rigged up a paternoster rig.
Hey buddy would it be easier if you had a trolley with rubber tyres or is the terrain a bit rough for a trolley
Yeah for most of the walk that would be perfect but the last 10minutes would be very hard as the track gets narrower
Get the dogs
They are actually black drummer mate Different species to luderick Luderick have distinctive black stripes And are more silver overall Great video though look forward to seeing more. 🤙🏻
I actually asked myself that question when I was editing the video 👍. Thanks for the comments and sub mate 👍
