Here are the lyrics, according to spfc.org Although they are mostly correct, I hear "They let me lead as their son" instead of "they let me speak as their son" Can you hear that too? Feel free to leave a message and to rate the song if you like it. when i'm walking with my love the world turns its head i can't hear what they're saying to us there is no escape giving up love for what i've said c...

From the show at the Glass House, Pomona, CA, 16/11/2001. This is the version I like the most. The lyrics are a little different on this one than other live versions. Feel free to leave a message and to rate the song if you like it. i've searched and searched for you in every face i've passed and i've searched through their souls from the coolest springtime until decembers cruel no matter what ...

    Classic Peter Gabriel at its best! The lamb lies down on Broadway album should have been picked by the Movie Industry to be filmed as a musical as Tommy was by The Who. I spent nine years in Attica correction facility, the lamb is perfectly depicted there. I’ve been telling Jess Peter Gabriel since 1974. My all-time favorites for sure

    Interesting. Though this is my all-time favourite album, I've never noticed a difference in this song between my old LPs and my remastered CDs. The remaster seems to get less like the original as we get further through the album. Particularly annoying is the BANGs made on a tambourine which, in the remaster, are feeble, little sounds!

    Some Genesis fans will find this post sacrilegious, but you probably won't find a bigger Genesis fan than me on the one hand, and on the other, at this point in history the Gabriel/Collins debates are silly. Anyway, after Peter left, Genesis did not play Back in NYC much - it resurfaced a few times in 1980. As an aside, if you've never heard Nad Sylvan singing Genesis in Steve Hackett's band, you should - and definitely see them live. They can almost out-Genesis Genesis. They are that good. Anyway, I've heard the Aylesbury and Madison Square Garden (NYC) renditions of BiNYC from the 1980 tour. I think Phil does a stellar job with it in the NYC performance, even though they cut the song a little short. th-cam.com/video/J9jEyZjYRwQ/w-d-xo.html

But I know it's me that's hitting out and I'm, I'm not full of shit. I don't care who I hurt, I don't care who I do wrong. This is your mess I'm stuck in, I really don't belong. I still have this in vinyl. And the Enossificated voice (compliments of Brian Eno) in the "porcupine" part is definitely Gabriel. The singing throughout it is so emotional and the song is so dramatic. This song had been reverberating through my head constantly for the past few days. I am become Rael Electric Razor.

    I'm pretty sure that's actually Phil Collins doing the wobbly creature-like voice at 2:51. Maybe both of them, but Phil's definitely in there somewhere.

    • @atomictorchlight8751
      @atomictorchlight8751 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both of them, actually, but you are right. Some people say they have similar voices, which is very untrue, as anybody who has listened to both eras with attention can attest, yet, the magic was how well their voices blended, complementing each other, so that is not so much Peter as lead vocalist and Phil as backing one, but them harmonising. Similar effect can be found between Richard Wright and David Gilmour on "Us and Them" and "Echoes". This leads to many confounding the two, and you can hear Peter's take on this in the Nursery Cryme reissue documentary when he talks about "Harold The Barrel". As a matter of fact, it is hard to find a PG era song where Collins (when harmonising) is not as audible or even more than Gabriel.

    • @CoTeCiOtm
      @CoTeCiOtm 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, it's both of them, but Phil's vocals are quite low. You can hear it's Peter better in the 2008 as it has less effects on the vocals.

      Funny enough, I finally made my decision to give Jeff a listen after finding out he covered this. I had been meaning to for a while, given I was already a huge Chris Cornell fan, and all he seemed to do was praise Jeff. Anyway, mad respect indeed.

      @@TheNightmare75II I hope you continued your Jeff journey and did not stop at this song that Jeff covered... Chris really did love Jeff, admired the hell out of him... I was already a huge Buckley fan and knowing my main man Chris was too, even better. RIP to both of the greats......

    • @TheNightmare75II
      @TheNightmare75II 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mitakuyeoyasin2320 Oh, of course! I got into him probably a little over two years ago. I'd been getting into Genesis and Peter Gabriel, and I found out Jeff covered this song, but I didn't listen to his cover right away. Instead, finding that out reminded me that I wanted to give Grace a listen, so the next time I went to a record store I bought Grace, and after one listen, I was completely hooked. So yes, you could say I continued my Jeff journey, but it's unfortunately not a very long journey. :( RIP Jeff and Chris.

    • @mitakuyeoyasin2320

      @@TheNightmare75II Ohhhhh wow-- but it IS a really long journey...Grace was/is a great peice, but there is SO much on youtube to discover... for instance, when he was just starting out, check out Live at Sine'.....and from there you will go on a journey to really understand who Buckley was... In fact after he died, Chris helped produce his demo tracks into his ffinal piece Sketches for my sweetheart the drunk... not great quality but they were just demo tracks....SO much Buckley to explore before Grace came out....My palms are sweaty feeling you're getting ripped off lol.

    • @TheNightmare75II
      @TheNightmare75II 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mitakuyeoyasin2320 Well, as a matter of fact, I own both Sin-e and Sketches as well as You and I. I also own "Songs for No One" with Gary Lucas and a digital copy of Mystery White Boy. It's all awesome, and Mystery White Boy is worth it just for "What Will You Say?" alone, but when you list out all the original Jeff Buckley songs and exclude covers, how many do you get? Like 30? 40? Obviously, he covered a lot of ground in all those recordings, and his live versions are often like different versions of the song just because of how much versatility he had as a vocalist and performer, but if we're strictly talking studio albums, he only had two if you count the first disc of Sketches (which I do, but I don't know if Jeff would). Anyway, we'd be lucky if all he ever put out was one song. That's how god he was, but it's still a shame his work was cut so short. Chris, too, even though he was much older than Jeff. Sorry for the super long reply. LOL.
