We are an amateur sailing team competing on a worldwide basis. Our home waters are in Lake Ontario in Toronto, Canada, and our home club is the Port Credit Yacht Club in Mississauga, Ontario. We publish videos for the following reasons:
1. We seek to improve our performance through constant learning. As amateurs, we analyze the videos to understand what to improve
2. We wish to share with everyone just how much fun a Melges 32 is for Lake Ontario waters and hope that the videos will help grow the fleet
3. For recruiting: If you can see yourself fitting into our culture, please reach out!
What is our culture? Great question:
1. Safety first for you and the boat. This rule supersedes all rules
2. Have fun
3. Then and only then win.
We practice on Thursdays and Saturdays when we are not racing.
This is why we practice so much and use videos to improve our performance based on measurable facts.

The Ontario Melges 32 is now in Harbor Springs!
GPS data failed in this camera
21:41 properly executed gybe set
WATCHING PAINT DRY
@@hswing11 it is an acquired taste
Thank you for going to the trouble of making this video, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the slick crew work. Great little boat, obviously blew off the competition guess it was a handicap race hope you won. And, no horribly background music just the sound of the water and the wind in the sails, very refreshing, again thank you
@@BarrieHarmsworth you are very welcome! We are always paranoid as our PHRF rating is 15
No sound?
Looks like you over though the comments part
Are y’all planning on racing Charleston race week this year?
Yes! See you there?
@@Spitfire-Melges-32hopefully, im planning on racing with a crewmates friend who is from the area but no definitive word yet.
Got a question for y'all, what camera / app do yall use to capture speed and location like yall have in the opening clip.
Hi. It's a GoPro 11, it's got a GPS built-in
@@Spitfire-Melges-32 Thank you
Nicely done!
Thanks!
Getting to know a boat requires hours of collaborative effort.
May I ask what camera you use? Also what is used to produce the data of course and wind?
Gopro 11 - they have GPS
Excelent work! i'm loving this channel
Much appreciated!
Good call to drop main when you did, Freddie
wtats wind speed, by windys? and boat specs (capsize coefficient)
We saw a maximum of 37.5 kn. No idea what the capsize coefficient is. Hope that helps. If you want to look that up, the boat is a Melges 32.
Let's go Spitfire
Did you finish?
24:50 👍
congratulations, the balloon problem and the storm moment were bad, but it's a nice and interesting race.
There is nothing more invigorating than a well handled Squall! The team was smart and everything was taken care of in a hurry without panicking. Thank you for your comment and observations!
34:09 - 6.1 to 5.2 Knots on bare poles! That is a very light boat!
16:15 the spin sheet is not rigged properly. Please rig inside the stanchion and the support
Looked like you lost .5 to .75 knots on that first tack to port. Looked like the jib might have been too flat.
@@IamPreacherMan very good observation! we decided to put up the heavy sail, which we used once about two years ago. It is a much smaller and flatter sail. Frankly, had we raced, we would have been in trouble because she is under powered. But it proved to be the right sail when the squall hit. The maximum speed was 37 knots. Because this is club sailing, we do not want to use up - and potentially destroy - our beautiful new Quantums. if you listen to the chatter, you will notice that this jib is fully trimmed at the zero mark on the deck, whereas the medium and light need 5 to 7, which means this jib is a lot smaller. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. We appreciate it.
Thank you for uploading this, I like this angle a lot more than the ones that are from bow to stern. Keep up with the good work! I like the team work there! Cheers to the crew!
Thank you! We provide all cameras since different people like different angles. That said, as a team we need all views since we use the video to analyze where to improve as a team. Do you live in Spain? If yes, muchas gracias por tu mensage.

Nice great footage. Just sailing, no distracting annoying music. Nice boat handling and great team work
Glad you enjoyed it
Very nice video and race, love it. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! We really appreciate your feedback.
Can you tell us what telemetry software you are using for the overlay?
goprotelemetryextractor.com/ is what we use
great move at the finish line !!
What mounts do you use to secure your cameras? We have been trying to work with different mounts on our boat.
The GoPro clamps They are called the Jaws Flex Clamp
Every moment of this was a joy got watch. Great crew - great racing video. Joanna Kidd, Alix McLaughlin and I were on a Shark in the QCYC race and it was sure blowing pretty good that day... It was sooo much fun until the 24:00 mark! Such a loss to have two 8 meter classics injured. I am grateful no one was injured.
Such a terrible loss. I read the article about it.
Always improving. Thanks to Luis and my team! This is home.
Sorry about the mike! The old Gopro finally died.
Spin trimmer didn't let go of spin sheet at 18:30 waited until the count was down to 1... Let go of the spin sheet at 3, turn around and be prepared to take in new sheet... There was no release this night due to short of crew and jib up.
Crew siting to much in the front, but damn fast boat
incredible video- Glad everyone was safe and the boat survived!
We got knocked down on the sunfast 3200 that same night at national after hitting 14 knots in 35 knots of breeze. Fun sailing.
Beasts
Notice the spin sheet off the back of the boat!!! Acts like a drogue at high speeds. That will not happen again. This is the only way to learn the limits of the Melges 32 (and our limits!)
More mikey! #Tahirishere #Tahirishereforyou
Does anyone know why the GoPro GPS gives erratic data sometimes?
