Heavy duty transmissions they are but they can be made work at their best fairly easily

brilliant carbs, the best fit for all aircooled type 246 and 247 boxers...BUT they do need some love every couple of decades
Valves and valve guides....just because it's running well doesn't mean it's in good health

To drop the head off a valve is something your airhead dosen't need ...ever
Cam followers....probably the deadliest thing in your Airhead engine

If these little fellows fain and "chip out" they can completely destroy your airhead engine....DON'T TAKE THEM FOR GRANTED

greasable, durable...just plain better than OEM needle roller bearings in a paralever....cheaper too :)

This takes time even with linishers and lathes but it can also be done with patience and plenty of time by hand

1982 BMW R100CS one owner from new, well serviced new in tank screens a couple of years ago.....this is why I use good quality in line micro filters

This should be done (at the very least the oil flow from the rocker gear) before you attempt to start a rebuilt engine.

I got caught in Grizzly country in the dark with a clogged accelerator jet in my r60/5. Some shavings from clean up weeks ago when I sealed the tank was the culprit. I run glass tube external fuel filters now.
Doing it right takes time, it’s nice to see!
