The Secret to Floating Bubble Photos (Studio Photography Tutorial)
In this video I'll take you through my process for photographing floating bubbles in a studio setting. Although it takes a bit of space and gear, the setup is pretty straight forward once you get into the swing of things.
I've laid out all the steps for the shoot in this tutorial so you can replicate the images with your own equipment. I've included chapters below if you want to skip ahead. The end results are amazing, minimalist and colourful compositions of bubbles that make for really captivating photographs.
Equipment used in the shoot:
- Sony a7RIV
- Sony 90mm f/2.8 Macro Lens
- Godox AD600Pro's
- Kupo Grips
- Jinbei Scrim
- X-Lite Stripboxes
00:00 - Intro
00:17 - Planning the shoot
00:44 - Setting up the shot
02:32 - Setting up the camera
04:30 - Troubleshooting the bubbles
05:44 - Editing the photos

    The reason why change pitch BMP makes that wavy pattern is because you're literally increasing the pitch of the waveform used to construct the image. You can see this effect by importing an image raw into GIMP and then adjusting the width until it tunes into focus. Data is ultimately numbers in storage and waves in execution. Also the reason why the effects corrupt from the bottom to the top is because the image data is stored upside down, so corrupting the second half of the file corrupts the top half of the image.

    1:08 about the note at the bottom, which input value does the -1 refer to? In the _Change Pitch_ menu in Audacity, the inputs are either semitones, or a percent change, so does the -1 imply a -100% change in pitch? EDIT: silly me, a 100% decrease in pitch can't exist! i will experiment Amazing video which I have referred back to dozens of times when databending!! such a helpful resource, your videos are a goldmine <3

    IS THERE ANY EFFECT IF A PINHOLE CAMERA IS USED INSIDE OF A CAMERA OBSCURED ROOM? I am actually trying to put the image together in my head visualizing using a pinhole camera box, and inside of it the light is directed into another camera obscura... i have got to know what happens.. i know that using a mirror helps aim the image onto the photographic film, type set up.. so I guess im curious if it would work, and it just makes the image less bright and smaller, as if it would cut the ratio in half type thing... yeah i bet that is how it works and your video shows an example of it when you capture the image of the light coming in from the hole an it looks like our bright sun against the dark backdrop of space, and that is what i thnk the suns are.. holes in space, where a pixel of light is peering through, from the inside or permalight center of space,.. which means that it is technically outside of our container.... it gets psychedelic to imagine,.and i love it love it love it.. the LENS... the device of time travel. keep up the awesome work..

    May I suggest one tip, since I'm an active scanograph... Instead of recording in tif file, you should record in bitmap file (.bmp). A bitmap file is a raw file. Or, by ancestry rights, a raw file is a bitmap file with added Metadata. If you record in bitmap file, you will have all the flexibility of a raw file. The bitmap files produced by Epson scanner can take a huge amount of editing before becoming burned or abstract. By the way, in the video your scanner seems to produce no light at all. How do you do that?

    • @vincentchouinard8129
      @vincentchouinard8129 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Tif files are theoretically uncompressed, but only retain details that are visible to the eye. Bitmap file (and it's descendant, the raw file) are uncompressed and retain all and every details, including the details invisible to the human eye. In a lightroom competition between a Bitmap file and a tif file, the Bitmap will win, since it is possible to recover way way more details in the shadows, the black and the lights. The Bitmap file is your Epson scanner's raw file

      You'll need to change the .raw extension back to what you started with - .tif or .bmp - which you can do by just editing the filename if you missed it in the export process. Then you should be able to open it up with an image editor and resave as a jpeg for a stable file.

      It's a bit of a process to troubleshoot where things are going wrong, but the first thing I would do is import and export a photo to audacity without making any changes. If there are no issues, then the original problem is coming from how you are making the changes - next try doing a small invert adjustment to the middle of the file, which is a pretty dependable glitch. If you still can't open the file without doing any changes, then the issue is coming from the way the file is formatted, or your import/export settings.

    I sometimes run into issues if I try to apply effects to the very end of the audio file. Is there any reason for that? I notice that the bottom part of the exported image isn't affected at all and if I appy processing to the whole audio file (minus the header) the thing gets corrupted.

    • @kindredcameraschannel
      @kindredcameraschannel 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I haven't run into this problem myself, but some effects/images are more temperamental than others. I also find you run into more problems if the audio length changes - e.g. doing a tempo adjustment - and if I'm using a really big image.

      @kindredcameraschannel 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry for the late response, haven't been back here for a while. It can be a tricky process, but a few things you can try: - Export the image without any changes (this will help you work out if the problem is happening on the original photoshop or audacity end) - Use a small file - around 1000 pixels - Things that shorten the audio can corrupt more easily, particularly for BMP's - Do a small invert change in the middle, this is my go to for troubleshooting as it rarely causes issues If you can't get it working, you could also look into hex/text editor glitching, which isn't as versatile but often works a bit easier.
