The chicane sucks now
@Deadorphanss it’s interesting watching the MX5 race. They are plowing through those giant curbs. I can’t do that with my car. I can’t afford to destroy my suspension.
So interesting
Hey Graham, great video Sir. This was my first ride with the Samurai group and the one that started this new passion. Lovely scenery. See you on the next one.
What the helll
It’s just not fun anymore wtf Daytona
It’s not good. Will be interesting to see how this affects the 24 hour racers
@@FloridaBikeAdventures Can't even see anything in a car, it'll be hard to have a reference point to turn in when it's nighttime.
it was very disorienting. They sent us out for qualifying without warning us about any of the changes. Hard to see anything with the grass gone. It’s also much slower. This went from a 4th gear turn to a 3rd gear turn for me
Is the rwgps link available?
Great trip. I also watched your interview podcast regarding the trip. I’m a recently new cyclist, recently new to FL and like this idea of minimizing road riding so I have a lot to learn. This video was exceptional.
@@AlanWJohnson there are lots of options here in Florida. I do not like riding on the roads here but the extensive dirt road options and paved trails make it all worthwhile
@@FloridaBikeAdventures I agree and am actually in the market for a new bike currently that’s more adequate for this style of riding. I’m a bit between a Gravel bike and a XC mountain bike.
@ I use my gravel bike much more than my mountain bike. I am more comfortable on a drop bar bike but you will lose some comfort of the suspension. Depends on if you prefer trails or dirt roads and over paths. I don’t do much trail riding so the gravel bike makes more sense
@ I am so glad you shared this with me. That has been my thought process all along, but I saw several of the riders on mountain bikes. As a chuckle, I really enjoyed your podcast when you were discussing camping in a tent versus being in a motel. When I was much younger, I did a ton of backpacking. My wife is a girly girl so obviously our camping days are over. I am also at the stage I prefer a motel, a bed, and a shower myself as well. 😀 My wife always says why would someone sleep in a tent when they can have a perfectly good bed? 😀 Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom, experience, and insight. Hopefully, we will cross paths on a trail one day.
Can't wait for the final route details. I can intercept it from home on the Baldwin and turn it into a ~250 mile out the door loop. Would be an epic one day training ultra or a beautiful two day overnighter. Let me know if you need another scouting ride!
Did you gnarl any fat airs?
@@TH.4W.4TCH.4 oh yes. Lots of gnarl and fat airs
@FloridaBikeAdventures 🤟🏿
Nothing wrong with setting up your tent inside your hotel room.
@@waltbaker8036 it’s an option. I will be out in the elements this weekend. Hope it all works out

Thanks, I hate to think of getting surgery.
I've been using biking sandals for about 25 years, love them. Also, so pleased you're putting this route with Karlos, great guy.

@@leehogan1381 is it?

Really enjoyed this
@@jonmeek3879 thanks. It’s a great spot to ride.
Really enjoyed, like the use of maps during video New subscriber
@@jonmeek3879 I like to give context to the areas we are in. It helps visualize the areas
I wanna do this route. I grew up in Middleburg.
It’s a blast. Will have it available late next week
@ thanks brother that’s awesome! We’ll be fresh back from NYC
I have a lot of family in Palatka they all ride dirt bikes on all that deep sand.
@@philobetto1224 oh boy. It can get deep
@ when I seen the two graders go by y’all. I figured you were close to a haul road. They keep it sandy so the trucks can come through loaded and still pull I’ve seen where they cap it with clay and it gets a little rain and they just spin out then they have to get a skidder to come out of the woods and pull them out. Then Georgia pacific gets into it with the pulpwooders and loads get slowed down. I’m down here in Indian river county now we have a few trails but just littered with Yankees just out wandering around and you’ll run up on them hauling ass. And have to slam on the breaks and loose all your momentum and have to start over. It’s nice up in north Florida where you guys were riding.
I really love that area. It’s great to get away and enjoy wild Florida.
It's called credit card touring ya slacker...lol. All that matters is that you're having a good time.
Loving the new bike! Can't wait to ride this one and thanks for all of the scouting you do.
@@PedalPowerAdventures bike is really fun. Hope to see you guys soon. Let me know if you want to go ride it some time.
I've run across cattle in the middle of several WMA in Florida,Micco and Fellesmere area. Always gave them plenty of space. 😅
Yea, the bulls are not to be messed with.
Great ride. Baldwin rail trail is my go-to ride here in Jax. Cheers
@@treeaddict love the area. I hope they do more rail trail in that area
Will you share this route? Ride GPS? great route and adventure id like to come down and try!
Need to make a couple of tweeks. Route will be available next week. All of our bikepacking routes can be purchased from Karlos at Singletrack Samurai.
@@FloridaBikeAdventures WONDERFUL!
Is this real time what month?
Did it Dec 30/31 2024. Fresh off the bike. Planning the next one
@@FloridaBikeAdventures Im planning on a loop out in the panhandle next month. looking at going from somewhere in the st joseph bay east to wakula springs along the coast and then circling back through the Apalachicola nat forest. Any experience in that area?
@ Karlos can put together a route for you. www.singletracksamurai.com He is the best at bike packing route building in Florida.
Love your vlogs! Happy new year!
Unplanned creek crossings and sand traps... I'm in! The I10 crossing is wild. Good stuff and thanks for sharing!
I love a good creek crossing. That I-10 underpass was really cool. Was not sure that was going to work out.
Diggin' the new bike Graham! Is the route considered "finished" or are you still tweaking it?
@@printerror going out Tuesday to change a couple of things near Middleburg. Should be done in a week or so
Bike packing loop????
We really did not have time to camp or carry the gear. Mike and I had 2 days to do get this almost 200 miles scouted and I really did not know if it was going to work. We agreed to travel light and go fast to try to see all of this loop if we could. It will be better run as a 3 day tour. Working on getting the logistics of camping spots and store stops put together for a tour later this year. Will be really fun as a 3 day tour. Lots of good camping options as we pass through 6 different state Forrests on this trip.
@@FloridaBikeAdventures You know I'm in!
@ let’s get a trip together. It’s really close for you
@@FloridaBikeAdventures I can easily ride to the Baldwin from home, so I might incorporate that into an out-the-door trip.

They did ok. The roads are clear. Some infrastructure damage that will take time to fix
Wonder if that area is rideable post hurricane?
Nice riding with you Graham (Trey Taylor)
@@92auggieboi that was a fun day. Let’s do it again
The Florida Cross Barge Canal has intrigued me since I read about it in the 80s. Now with Google Earth/Maps it is so easy to locate and follow. From what I remember it was president Nixion that stop the building of it. The state was still paying for maintenance on it till 1992. I have heard stories about the concrete locks that were built in the wooded areas east of Ocala. Never got a chance to find out if it was true or not.
There is an abandoned lock and dam in Eureka. I got some footage of it on my ride with my friend Wayne when we rode from Ocala to the beach. You can see some shots of it from that video.
Wow What an amazing adventure! I had a phone experience like that once! My wife was mad at me! Thanks for sharing this!
Yea, my wife is never surprised when I end up with these problems. I am always doing something to keep her on her toes.
Is this a 2.5 boxster in T3 ?
