G-Scale Santa Fe Chief Heavyweights 11/01/24
Finally got my whole set of brand new USA Trains Santa Fe heavyweight passenger cars together with my F7's. The lighting, paintwork, and detail on these cars is absolutely phenomenal. I guess this would be a hypothetical early-50's Chief prior to full conversion over to the streamlined lightweight cars or perhaps a Railroad Boosters special lol. Also features a very long reefer block being hauled by my SP geeps including my custom-painted Halloween scheme one (oddly fitting since it was Halloween the day prior).

Amtrak 40th Heritage Units in G-Scale on the SCWRR
มุมมอง 158หลายเดือนก่อน
Just finished my second custom repaint of yet another old g-scale LGB P42DC into Amtrak Phase II heritage unit 66. Trailing behind is my other custom repainted LGB P42DC, Amtrak Phase I heritage unit 156, which has been featured previously on this channel. I made all of the graphics for both units myself using a vinyl cutter machine. My Amtrak 66 was originally an LGB Phase IV 98 with a lot of ...

Running my USA Trains SP GP9's, Bachmann ATSF C44-9W's, and LGB P42DC's in the morning before the summer heat gets too unbearable on my g-scale layout, the Southern California Western Railroad. Got out the long 30-car reefer block and figured I'd run different eras from the Southern Pacific, Santa Fe, and Amtrak.

Cool
I have two questions about the 2-6-6-2. 1. Is it an actual compound? 2. Is it Great Northern?
Yes its modeled after the GN . It was a compound but is a simple now cause we couldnt get it right it would lock up the front cylinders untill it got warm. It runs amazing
where you bought it??
Real art crafts
Liked seeing the WP equipment (especially the #259). Great video.
SP 1171 brings to mind a few things read about some SP switchers employed at passenger terminals having boiler jackets in any one of several different hues. I like that idea. ☺ The other 2 old timers and that one little very old timer were also appealing.
Wish i was there
Good video, like!
Great video! So bummed I had to miss this… Spring meet though!!!
The BN bicentennial and the Santa Fe warbonnet both looked mighty fine. The Shay was amazing. I can hardly imagine the amount of precision machining that went into that one. Outstanding work by all.
It is a point of interest how classy that ATSF warbonnet livery looks after, what, 80 years? from its origin.
Seeing that dual gauge track gives me hope for my 1.5`` scale narrow gauge dreams. The local clubs in my state didn't even bat an eye when I talked about adding 4.75`` track to the club layouts attract (no pun intended) a wider variety of live steam enthusiasts.
That 2-8-8-2 is incredible! I'd buy her in a heartbeat if ever I could get up the 100 or so grand to make an offer.
Thanks for the video. I had a great time at the meet as did everyone else that attended I'm sure. Outstanding craftsmanship on the engines and rolling stock and especially a really nice group of participants.
Love to see that 2-8-8-2!!
Is this 486’s Whistle?

As someone who owned one of the Original Trash 9 's from aristo, The paint on the bachmann is way better.
Honestly, the more I look at some of the old stock ones in person, I absolutely agree. I saw a old stock one the other day in a train shop and I swear the paint on it was like a weird glossy finish with red that was too dark. Bachmann did an amazing job with the paint on these by comparison.

Whay an amazing train ride! Am pitting this on my bucket list!
Shhhhh 👆
I love to try that train ride 🚂
Beautiful train ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Grew up in Rancho, been watching since they started laying the first track. I have always admired the trains and their builders. There is just something about iron and steam.
Wonder how the steaming characteristics are with coal compared to the oil conversion?
Way more efficient and cleaner. No more ash pan to dump out. Less carbon being emitted. Only real dirty part is punching the flues, as you have to get up in the smokebox Oil really future proofs steam.
Surprisingly no difference
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

There at "20 Years Ago" the F45 and FP45 are still some of my favorite locomotive body designs. They look good. I also enjoy that their chisel-nose front end brings to mind the bows of the Navy ships Dad was on. While I do like various big powerful locomotives my heart is with the small ones, be they steam, electric, diesel, whatever their gauge may be.
Love the little 0-4-0! Does that 4-10-2 actually have 3 cylinders?
So the tracks of different height are not connected?
No, the 7 loops are not connected. Each loop is independently controlled by its own transformer and has no crossovers or connecting tracks to change levels or loops.
Very nice. Thanks for sharing
A wonderful sight to see on a Monday morning. Thank you for posting the video.
Timing sounds like a horse with a giddy up. So far so good, hope to see it running like clockwork soon.
