Kinda crazy to find these old channels, that baby is over 5 years old now!
Why must the crush washer be replaced?
If all else fails, read the instructions 😁 Much easier if you remove the knobs and front panel ( 2 screws ), then remove the rail cover plate ( 2 screws ), the ignition electrodes just a slide fit. You don’t need to remove the burners and mess with air mixtures.
I was in a store years ago, and the guy in front of me in line was getting a chainsaw on a stick, and the guy behind me said to me something like, "that doesn't seem like a good idea". I just said "yeah" and laughed. What could go wrong. But having to cut a five or six inch thick branch yesterday with a fully extended pole saw, again, wears you out.
Good vid, thank you . That grill is some nasty though.
Thanks. Try to build your channel by posting more videos. You guys are amazing!
I rebuilt mine approximately a week ago clean the burner tubes all nine yards. Replace the igniter and the porcelain probes.. After doing all this and cleaning it thoroughly I was still having a problem lighting two of the burners. What I came across is the probe sensors to the porcelain housings we're at a 12° angle to the vent tubes of the burners, giving a spark but not very strong. I then proceeded to readjust these with the screwdriver between the the burner and the underside of the porcelain probe adjusting the probes to 90°. I then retested it and long behold instant spark and flame! 😀 The girl has never worked as good from day one as it does now. I don't know the purpose of the igniting rods being at an angle but nevertheless if anybody has this problem readjust the rods below the porcelain igniters carefully not damaging them and you will note that the results are well worth it.
Nice video. FYI, drill has smaller than 13/16".
I need to do this tomorrow, thank you for the great guide. New Sub /cheers ScrapBongo
Looking swole my dude
GOD WHAT A COUPLE OF WOOSIES.
Thank you!
How come you didn’t put back any rotor screws? Does it work the same without the screws?
It just makes it easier to work around, and hold it in place. Some people save them for a brake job. But you don't need to have them.
How many times did you put that thing down with the chain into the dirt? lol
Great job. Have you replaced all wheel studs? If you did, did you need to cut off backing plate? Thanks.
Couple of morons with a chain saw - what could go wrong. Hope your mom hides the scissors from you two.
Thanks great. I have exact similar model in these video, but i have a PROBLEM .. the flame is to poor in all burner in max regulation, i don't know whats is the problem, the gas hose? I try different gas tank, Can you help me, thanks
You guys are dangerous throwing branches over the fence
you have to have some situational awareness of where the blade is at the end of the at the end of the pole come on now you don't have to see it actually the blade turning you know where the blade is situational awareness will put it up lay the blade near where you want to cut and make the cut Jesus
If you put the pole saw's trigger in your left hand than your body is on the other side of the saw guard. than you can see.
How do I know it's the igniter and not the gas regulator.
That was very entertaining. Can you do another video topless !!
Can you still ignite the barbecue with an in-op igniter, the old-fashioned way?
You most certainly can. Using a long matchstick or BBQ lighter through the provided hole will do the trick. Make sure to keep the lid open!
trying to build a highchair for my nieces... and I dream of having a workstation as yours!
Why wouldn’t you buy original honda parts?
No need to remove the tubes. This can be done easier by removing the control panel. 2 screws and lift up.
What size pocket screws? 1 1/2"?
Thanks, this will save me time. Just wondering if I should install the module and reuse the old wires to the burners.
Yes
Thanks
You probably needed to replace the battery!
I basically took mine apart, took off the shield and the trigger lock. I could not agree more about not being able to see your work. If you're going to review something you might want to know how to operate and adjust it before you post a review. Especially when it comes to proper chain tension and oiling it as well. The problem with the whole weight issue is that it's a hand chain saw turned into a pole saw. So, all that weight works against you when its fully extended. But overall for $55, more then worth the money, much better at times then a manual pole saw.
good job.
Really need to be wearing a hard hat....
You guys would be dangerous with even a hammer
Maybe they should let their husbands use it.
Great video thank you change mine it was a breeze
This is one of the best shoe bench videos I have seen so far! Would you mind adding the cut list to the description? I hope you continue with other mudroom videos!
Don't you think it would've been better to clean the inside of the grill while all the burners were removed?
Clean your grill once in a while. It will run smooth
MMAP55 Was wondering why he didn’t while I was watching. Could have used a vacuuming.
bwahaha you only needed to replace the box lol
Keep going... good luck for The BuildOut. From Indonesia
Sweet chair bro!!!
Awesome build 👏
Great start!
You only need to replace the spark generator box.
.. Just got finished with mine. My order of troubleshooting: 1. Check or replace the AA battery, 2. Check the switch with an Ohm meter, 3. Replace the "spark box," 4. Replace non-functional sparkers. But yeah 9/10 it's the "spark box" when nothing is working after an easy battery swap. Mine crapped out after 2-1/2 years with 2-3 per week uses on my Genesis 410 series. Chinese parts. I too only replaced the "spark box" and have lots of spare parts.
Not always true. I replaced the igniter unit and no joy. Ended up replacing the wires as well to resolve the issue.
Are the igniters suppose to be secured to the burners? I bought one used and they’re just laying on top of the burner.
Mine did the same thing after 5 years. I just sanded the corrosion off the electrode in the cap where the battery goes. This fixed the problem. Also check for corrosion on the positive electrode. Hope this saves you even more money.
Great points Mark! We should have mentioned checking the battery. Nice idea on saving money by removing the corrosion!
Check the battery first, but if it's a good battery, before you buy a whole new igniter kit, read this: When a new battery didn't fix the igniter, I took a minute to double check the battery compartment. Looked like the contact for the negative side of the battery (the contact inside the igniter box) was kind of dull. The way I cleaned it was to cut a thin strip of course sandpaper and wrap it lengthwise around the eraser end of a pencil, stuck it in the battery tube and rubbed away until the contact was all bright and shiny. Reinstalled the battery and voile: Working igniter! Hope this helps some of you avoid messing with new igniters and wires. I like to keep it simple!
Exactly, check the battery first, then replace the ignition module, before replacing any of the ignitor. Chances are all 4 ignitors don't go bad at the same time. A little deductive thinking goes a long way, save you time and money.
This is exactly what happened to mine. Cleaned up the spring and also pulled on each of them to help them make better contact when the lid was put in the battery compartment. So happy I didnt have to replace anything. But mine was not working right out of the box. Glad I didnt have to take it back to the store or wait on hold for someone in India.
epf1961 what you suggested worked for me. Thanks.
That saved me a whole bunch of work! - Had not used the lighter for 2 years lol.. Just a bit of roughing up the inner contact and click click click again - thanks!!
Worked for me too! Thanks for posting. Save me $ and the aggravation of install.
Check the battery first. My Genesis grill had a factory issued battery in the ignitor button. I unscrewed it and saw that my battery was a little corroded. I replaced it with a new battery and then the grill ignitor worked. Simple check & fix before you start tearing the grill apart. I got lucky because my grill was fairly new so wires and other parts were in good shape.
Great idea
You don't need to remove any of the burners to remove the front cover! There is a Phillip screw located near the top hinge of each door (two total). Remove these and simply lift off the cover after pulling off the knobs. Super easy and much less work. Other than that, nice video.
Thanks Edward! Good tip
Totally agree. Much easier.
I misplaced the screws that secure the Access Panel. Could you tell which size they are?
