Nice to see, cheers mate. Waiting for ours just outside Bury so fingers crossed this week... good to see it showing up and thanks for taking time to show it off.
It’s a lovely game. Playing through my first session solo. The production quality is outstanding. I hope you enjoy it as much as I am.👍
When people carry kislux bags in real life, they don't have the time or opportunity to look closely at the bag to spot such a great knockoff
Nice and informative review. First, no ability to access physical cards (even just a PDF) turned this sure thing into a 'No', plain and simple. There is no place for electronics during any tabletop game I choose to play. Knight Models get over yourselves. You literally just lost a sale because of your lack of very basic, common foresight. Your future success or failure is entirely in your hands, and right now you are using the wrong hand. And their marketing must have been abysmal. Its not even on BGG and I heard about this game, what, probably a year ago.
It looks like they are selling the stl's of these models for 3D print on MMF. So you may get a chance to scale/print the minis as you please.
Where did you purchase this?
Where did you purchase this from?
It was a crowd funded project on gamefound.
@paintngamecorner5229 apologies. I'm just desperate to get this game and don't know the best website to buy it from.
Great video, best RTW content I've seen so far. Just to add one more pointer: around 54:00 you show a Roman army of what looks like 7 MBC. The max MBC for an army is 6 (and then 2 skirms, 2 arty). In your battleplay it also show more than 6 MBC, although it works well there as it was a great showcase of the small expansion. Really nice to see someone soloing through it. I'm currently on turn 2 of a four-player solo game, and it's a lot to handle but an absolute blast. Again, great video!
Thanks for your kind words. You are absolutely right I was fielding some illegal armies there. Again the issue is with the rules, I am still not fully sure about the main battle cards. My understanding now is that it is everything except skirmish (apart from on horse) and artillery? Is this right? Like most games once you have played through a few rounds the rules are pretty straight forward-ish.
@@paintngamecorner5229 I cannot believe how many silly little mistakes the developers made. Any rule that can easily be forgotten ought to be set out so that it's not overlooked - for example, the min/max army composition rules should have been printed on the player boards where the army cards are stacked. And that's before you look at fundamental stuff, like just how bad the rule book(s) are. Hiding rules within examples is a bad idea. They obviously didn't bother blind playtesting the rules at all. I'm very disappointed that I spent money on such a half-baked product.
Hi. Just received my copy of this today. You can trade in 2 cards to get resources. I was thinking you could have done this when discarding down to 8. I'm really excited to play this. Watching your video has really helped getting my head around the game play
Yeah this is an essential mechanic, and gives resources. My recent plays all players do this and it makes the game flow really well. It’s a great game and a favourite amongst the game group.
Thanks for the great video. Couldnt agree more. Was happy when i openend the box and saw the rulebook with only 12 pages. I thouht: nice an easy to learn and understand game. But after reading it i had so many questions. Thanks for clarifying some. Any idea where the updated rules can be found? And hope you give your thoughts after a 4 player game.
Here is the rules summary done by a community member: boardgamegeek.com/thread/3438286/rosetta-the-community-sourced-rules-rewrite-for-to Hopefully get that 4 player game in soon.
Pity we didn't get solo rules. Was looking forward to that. Will have to wait until the rest ships I guess.
Agreed solo rules would be great!
Same, solo gaming is a focus for this channel, so was disappointed to not get in the core game. Also, are they not retailing this I presume?
Playing with yourself will make you go blind and lead to hairy palms
Great to see more TWR coverage - hope your future games go well too! Couple of things you might find helpful: (1) At 24:47, you seemed stumped by how to access Balearas. Embarking/Disembarking can be done from/to any Region coastline - Ports don't factor into it - ie. you can just land troops there. It's the same for Hierapytna and Cypros in the Eastern Med. (2) Assaulting Garrisoned Regions: Campaign Example 6 in the RM (pg13) implies infantry MBC's still roll their dice, even if they were taken out by the defence dice, but this is a contentious one as the rulebook doesn't state that it's simultaneous in that fashion. If it isn't simultaneous, then Barbarians are in a tough spot, having no access to the 'Siege Craft' Dev or Artillery. (3) Regional Improvements: There is a 'faction-limit' of two of each type of (some) RI's per round, so the 3-barracks Maginot Line at 59:46 would not be possible. Loved the coverage though, dude - enjoyed the unboxing video too.
Thank you for the pointers. Much appreciated.
Solo rules and components will ship with wave 2. There is a very rough draft of the solo rules online that you can find, and then you can print out the components yourself. But the rules definitely need work
Yeah, I just hope the solo rules in wave 2 are full, and all components printed. I will be doing an initial thoughts video once I’ve finished playing my first game.
Tis the time of year when many a man , at least several of the ones i know of , are glad of a shed / separate space of some sort . Thank you . Merry Christmas .
Thank is for the entertaining bat reps. At ~34 minutes and later at 36:25, when the AI block icon lands directly on your model, the en bridge attack is cancelled, so you wouldn't have killed the first ashigaru and the boss... And by the way, the trap markers are only there to show the hexes are part of the board, they're not traps. The he two hexes are black lined, which normally would be out of play.
I played scenario 0 the weekend, its pretty decent an the storage is fine, took me ages to set it all up first time, an the tiles do just have to be floating around in the box I found, but I'm excited to play more, glad I also went for the standees rather than the minis as they aint essential at all
Hey, yeah played it solo a few times and played my first 4 player competitive game last night. I really like it, but it is a lot for new players, although they enjoyed the game. Really like the organisation with the phases although big table hog.
I've been having a great time with painting the models (even though they are a pain to assemble). But do you have any idea what the different symbols on the back of the Intrigue tokens are for? I can find the rules about setting and revealing tokens, but I can't figure out what the different symbols do when revealed
I assume it is future proofing, so your opponent may reveal certain objective tokens to score objective cards? However, this is just a guess.
@paintngamecorner5229 that makes sense, and matches what I was starting to suspect. There's just enough translation issues and future proofing in the rulebooks and app that I just wasn't sure, especially since there's like no one talking about the game online. Like, why do some characters in the app have powers that talk about revealing "suspects"? I assume those are just intrigue tokens but the word suspect never appears in the rulebook. Why do the symbols on the backs of the tokens have distinct names in the components list but are never mentioned again? Why does the rulebook talk about a Sansa model that can be a Leader or Hand, but such a model doesn't exist, meanwhile the core box has a Jaime model that can be a Leader or a hand, and is in fact the only character so far to do so? Why are there deckbuilding rules for the objective decks that so far (and may never, as far as we know) don't matter? Why have an ally designation but also so far there are no characters playable out of their faction? And yet I can't find anywhere to talk about this game online, even the company's official social media barely acknowledges it. It's baffling.
yes agree with all your points, I find it bizarre that they are not marketing this. game! the game is a re-skin of Batman Miniatures Game. This is where the term suspect comes from. Also as this is a more established game they have different factions with objective cards, so there is some deck building, but not in GoT yet. Sansa is the expansion pack I bought. Basically, she can be your leader alongside Cat, therefore having two ncu characters.
Hey man, good stuff! Looks like you missed a level 1 +buff of your choice, plus every level does give you a power cube to spend. Only the odd levels additionally give you a stat point. And last, the buffs you put in the first row/column whatever its called, should've been in the second. :-) Hope it helps!
Jaime would’ve taken a second wound on Robb’s first attack from The Pack Survives. Would’ve been 5 hits instead of 3. Great play through!
I think the strength die uses the attacker’s value, not the defenders. Very informative video! Thanks for making it!
Did your starter come with Ned Stark? Was it a preorder or did you order it normally?
I bought off online store, not preorder and it came with Ned Stark. Also did same for Batman miniatures and got the preorder bonus minis there too. I think they have just bundled together with all starter sets?
@ ah thanks. Was that KM’s store or a local shop?
@@revivasfernandezthat’s an online store not km
I was intrigued by this game during the summer and searched for reviews...or just some information...and found nothing. Indeed. Remarkable, especially given the resources put into the production and license! Thank you for this video and the related ones!
This is exactly what I found. I have never seen a game so under-marketed as this. Especially with the prestigious IP. Crazy! Have just bought the Lannister and stark expansions. So looking forward to some list builds.
@@paintngamecorner5229 I appreciate the content, and it is obviously needed on YT (another Kill Team unboxing not so). I did random searches on the subject and your channel the other day. I am on the fence regarding the game, but the core set might be worth picking up just for daring the fantastic minis, never mind the sleek ruleset!
Hello to France, the game is available to order now ? Where have You your ?
I am not sure about France I’m afraid. But I’m in uk.
Gosh, waiting for mine here in Manila. It's coming up soon!
The sculpts of the models are phenomenal, but I was struggling to get them put together lol
Couldn’t agree more. The models are such good quality, however, just a pain to put together. You have to be careful cutting from sprue and there is so much flash! Also no numbering system for parts and no instructions. I now have the Batman miniatures game starter set, and again minis look awesome!
Thanks for showing this. Would be great to have a 10 minute summary of how it works and your thoughts after X plays of this.
Great paint jobs dude. Im in the middle of painting mine. Just makes the game so much more immersive. Also, all i have is the base game but wanted to get the new flight plan. Can i add the new flight plan to any scenario from the base game? Im not sure how expansions work.
Thanks. Yes the new flight plan can be added to any scenario. It shows who has superiority for the different stages of the war.
Thanks for the video. You inspired me to paint mine. I looove the game, and when I saw your finished product I HAD to start a mini fig painting hobby. Makes the game so much more immersive.
That’s awesome to hear, and it is such a great game. I recently started the campaign book 1 with a friend. Well done on painting yours.👍
Great video, really enjoy your gameplay! I love this game, but I don’t think I’ve played it yet without forgetting at least one rule!
Thanks. Yep a lot to remember but gives very rich gameplay.
great video pal, subbed.
Loved this playthrough, it reminds me of all the reasons I love LoD. I hope you'll keep making more.
Thanks for your kind words. I will deffo get some more gameplay up on the channel.👍
At 35:04 when u cast flare and u failed the test I it is just half the mana cost of the spell.
Some additional tips: Charge attacks can only be done in straight or strict 45 degree angle lines. [Pg 108]. Enemies don't get a dodge. Their built in negative To Hit modifier is there to balance that out, instead enemies in Parry stance add a -15 modifier to your To Hit roll. [First sentence pg. 113 and modifier table]. Magical Items (and potions), must be identified before heroes can use them. [Pg. 68 and 70] I just got the game last week and am still working through all the nuan es myself. Loved watching your play through! I'll keep watching any more you post! Cheers!
Thanks for these. Will try and remember and implement them next time. Of course it makes sense I have to identify magical items before using etc, it was my first one.
Had a blast at my first attempt! lol TPK by a giant spider vs my 4 halflings…2nd run using a bit more muscle.
Awesome 4 halflings sounds familiar…..
Love the content. It’s great that you make mistakes so others can see and read about them, thank you and please keep them coming 🙏🏼
Yeah, with all the games I play, I tend to make some mistakes, however, I always really enjoy my sessions, which is the most important thing. It’s great to have discussions here with the rules I agree totally.
I find that if you don't push all the way down, it stays on and doesn't fray the standee
Fun watching. Why are you not using the Dungeon events when there is no room encounter!
Great video. Not sure the wizard could have moved through the front rank in the door way. Models can move diagonally between allies. But may not enter any space with a model. P.91 rule book.
Cool 2 but you cannot move hero after a power attack as it costs 2 AP.
Ahh, I thought charge was 2 ap not power attack. Thanks for the spot.👍
I've left the plastic stands on the carboard standees as we use them so they aren't coming on and off all of the time - the first set of quests are all similar monsters/bandits etc.
Do they fit in the box like that ok?
@@paintngamecorner5229 Mostly! I repacked the box without any of the books/paperwork in the bottom to help (this helps when we have an admin session where just the books etc. are needed to level up , go shopping, deliver quests, sort out inventory, make potions, etc.!) All of the monster bags have their corresponding monster cards in with them (except beasts ofc!) - makes it a bit easier to find a monster. I added a shallow 20x counter tray in the bottom which moves almost all of the tokens out of the top and into the bottom - along with the money and initiative pouches and a few card decks that didn't fit when sleeved. This makes space in the top. Only standees we've used get a plastic stand - I'd imagine we'd have to revisit that at some point but it does means, for the common ones right now, we aren't pulling off and putting on plastic stands all of the time. They all live in their own "we've used these before bag" so we can find them a bit easier than rummaging in the dedicated bags!
@@paintngamecorner5229 mostly! reorganised the box and took out the books etc. I did do a longer comment but its vanished :(
It's not explicitly stated in the rulebook that I've found, but the designer states in his rule videos that you can start a pick locks/disarm traps action as your 2nd action and then finish the action as the 1st action of your next turn,, thus leaving you with 1AP on that characters next turn so you're not losing 1AP.
That kinda makes sense I suppose. I may house rule that if the person attempting to open the door finds it trapped or locked they can as a bonus ap try to disarm or pick lock therefore only taking one activation. But it must be the same character.
Thanks for the playthrough! One minor thing, all doors except the entrance increase threat and get rolled for locked/trapped status. The first door you get as a freebie (you can think of it as you have no time pressure to get in the front door, but after that you do).
Ah yes I remember this from first mission. Thanks.👍
@@paintngamecorner5229Thank you for recording! I am really enjoying the playthrough!
24:54 it has magic properties, you can identify a magic item with a wis roll, then you can roll on the magic armor chart to see what kind of property you got. Also if you fail to identify, you can do it in the magic guild in silver city I think when you fail a trap disarm test you need to lose 1 lockpick 35:00 I think you can’t cast a magic missile if there is a friendly model between you and the target, also failed casting of magic that is not critical, is only taking half of the mana 37:42 the bandit cannot charge because he does not have a straight line of 4 squares to one of your heroes 39:00 true on that! When no damage go through the durability will not go up 52:20 I believe that if you manage to successfully pick the lock, you don’t lose the lockpick Also, After you win combat, you need to rise threat by 1, and you should also loot the bandits, each one is a roll on the T1 table. You also get exp points for each bandit Sorry for all the wall of nitpicking 🤣 your videos of lod are very very fun to watch! You are doing great
As someone who actually worked on this game, I can tell you that the reason behind the tiles not being double-sided. It was actually a stretchgoal reward in the first campaign. Initially the tiles were double-sided to save cardboard, but with the massive amount of sales, economies of scale allowed us to print extra tiles without increasing the unit price. The perk of having a unique tile for each layout design is that every single tile is usable, while double-sided tiles mean that using one side removes your ability to use the other. The objective rooms have different art on the front and back, because you'll only ever have one objective room at a time. Having the art repeated on the back is just because we did print some double-sided tiles, so repeating the art on the back of the other tiles didn't cost anything extra, and hypothetically provides some insurance against wear-and-tear. As for what I worked on, art for the standees and cover art for the books and boxes, and several illustrations within! Thank you so much for your very flattering compliments on that! I really appreciate it!
The standees is genuinely one of the amazing parts of this game, the quality of the art and sheer number of them. I totally understand the double sided nature for the tiles, someone else explained the reasoning which totally makes sense. Thanks for giving us the awesome quality art and all the best on your next project.👍
Great job. Also- p86. Once you finish your quest you do not need to retrace your steps.
Great, I will teleport out of dungeon in the future. Thanks.👍
I'm going to grab some different bases like the dungeon crusade bases
I am going to try to use Pathfinder bases which are designed to be used for standees. Initial tries suggest they will be much better.
I love your gameplays of this game thank you very much!!
Thanks so much, I know they are not super high production quality, but hopefully folks can get an idea and flavour of the game.
Just starting to dig into my rulebook, but I thought I read that once the quest boss is defeated, you can 'teleport' out of the dungeon without having to retrace your steps. Not entirely sue, though... Either way, thanks for the video, and I look forward to seeing more!
You can
How do you get your standees into those holders without wrecking the standees?
I will be posting another gameplay video of my last session, talking about this and other comments. Bottom line is that they do get damaged and not much can do to stop it. But the cardboard seems pretty good stock so should last a long time (hopefully).
Hold standee pointing away from holder at about 45° and then push in turning upright as you go. Slightly harder to remove but basically the reverse.
Ulfric the undead priest is an undead, any kind of undead never gets wounded :) You can read this in the activation card of lower and higher undead at the bottom
Thanks for the rules clarification. Will remember this for next time I encounter undead.
Thanks for the video, always nice to see new LoD content! Just a small rule point, during the start of turn phase, the Scenerio Roll is 1d10. Only on a 9-10 do you then need to roll against the Threat and change the Threat Level score as reqiured. Thought I'd mention this before you quickly get swamped by Wandering Monsters in future quests :-)
Thanks, wow that explains the frequency of a wandering monster. I must have missed the instruction of 9-10 on d10. Thanks for pointing out.👍
