    I would have hand-painted the "C" and "D" to fix the downtube logo. Otherwise you are riding a CAUI BUTLER. Also putting weinmann 500g's on that bike is a crime. You should use either the Weinmann 610's (pretend the Suntour gear system replaced SIMPLEX) or use Dia Compe G brakes (period correct 70's brakes to match the japanese gears).

    Oh for f#*k's sake, the man bun guy puts his foot on the top tube (3:06) and poses while he's grinding the cable into his newly restored paint!

      He can do what he likes with his bike, and his hair! Probably picked up a few more scratches from daily use for a few years by now, too.

      @@mottainaicycles5564 I say his scrunchie popped, his hair flew in his eyes, and and crashed that bike within 6 months.

      @@JAMaxeRestoration 😂 as someone with even more unruly hair I can attest to this being possible but unlikely 😝 Seriously though, we would rather a bike be ridden than just looked at, even if it means picking up some scratches and chips. We have definitely done restorations just to be hung up on a wall but knowing a bike will be ridden makes the work even more satisfying 😊

      @@mottainaicycles5564 I was not commenting on riding a vintage bike or hanging it on a wall. With some exceptions I believe a vintage bike should be ridden. This guy is a cloddish wanker putting his foot up on the frame where the cable runs and posing like he just bagged big game. That move is not in the normal wheelhouse of everyday wear and tear use. As a restorer I would have been taken aback at that particular moment and probably a bit disappointed. He's not a guy who appreciates a beautiful bike. He's either a guy who wants to show off, or a guy who had a serious lapse in judgement. Now all that being said, the video of the restoration is still very good. Nice music selection set to bike shop shenanigans still gets a.... thumbs up.

      Anywhere from au$850. We just do custom builds and are local area (Victoria) only as we prefer not to ship out completed bikes (to maintain quality control and long-term support). If you're interested give us an email 😊

    I know I'm a little late to the party but I've only just found this video, I have a Claud Butler frame that is exactly the same as this one except it is silver, i used for long distance weekend cycling, 200km Audax events etc, Ah memories ! now the frame, along with a other lesser frames, currently sits up the loft with heaps of wheels, bars, chainsets and other bicycle gear.

    Vintage derailleurs are like jewelry. Love to see the greasing and repacking of bearings. That's how it was back when mechanics actually fix stuff instead of "replacing".

    The only thing I keep seeing these kids doing wrong on the restore is when the are putting the handle bar tape on instead of starting at the brake end start your tape at the middle so when you are done the plug holds it in so you don't have to use black tape.they start at the wrong end.we always started where they finish so it tucks inside the bar and the plug holds it." Forever"

    • @mottainaicycles5564
      @mottainaicycles5564 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is true of some bikes but depending on the tape (eg cork) it can be better to start at the ends as doing the opposite makes it more likely to 'flap off' at the edges when in use. I feel like a diagram would explain better though! In any case, yep, with the 'harder' tapes such as Benotto or vinyl I'm totally with you.
