It is important that we view self defence from the perspective of reality, and not from our own personal point of view. People have the wrong idea of what self defence actually is and what is required from them in order to protect themselves and their loved ones.
There are many self defence organisations around the world that have provided people with idea that self defence is easy, fun and fast to learn - "everyone can do it".
If we consider real attacks i.e. knife attacks, being held at gun point, bar fights and sexual assault, you will soon realise that nothing about it is fun, nor is it easy. Self defence is not about how cool or fluid the technique looks! It is about how effective it will be in reality.
On this channel, we will be transparent on what will be required of you to really defend yourself under attack.

Good for short attacks, do knife boxing distance, quick slashing cuts , footwork of the attacker in and out, circling around.

If I'm honest, I think both defenses work. If the first defense would focus on controlling the weapon instead of throwing a counter attack punch, it would definitely work!
Keep in mind these training knives hurts!

In a real knife fight, fast stabbing moving around you can't grab the person's arm, all you can do is block, parry and strike till you hurt the person and then come in. Is Like fake aikido grabbing punches, when the person is moving and stabbing imposible. Train to fight skill fighter's not bumbs
With the overhook control, can the attacker still encirlcle your waist on your backside with his other arm?
Looks like hes flagging the other guy with the barrel while pistol whipping the knife wielder.
