As a keen runner for many years I have recently begun recording my various races on my go-pro camera. Here are a selection of the races I have recorded ranging from half marathons to full marathons and ultras.
Training run - second half of the South Coast Challenge 100k. Brighton to Arundel.
Recently in July I ran the second half of the South Coast Challenge from Brighton to Arundel. Here is a video of my day

Barcelona Marathon 2019

The weekend of 9th/10th March 2019 saw me travel to Barcelona, Spain to run my first overseas marathon. I`ve decided to leave music out of the video just to enable everyone to see and hear the atmosphere created on the day. A great event which I`d certainly recommend
Running in the snow, South Downs Way 1st February 2019

As it`s been snowing in the UK overnight, like any normal runner I decided to go straight out and find some white stuff to run in. This took me to Worthing, West Sussex for a thirteen mile run. Here are a few highlights of my first experience of running in snow.

Packing for a 50 miler.

I`ve been asked recently what sort of equipment do you need to pack for a 50 mile ultra. Therefore I thought I`d put together a video outlining the sort of things you will need. Please note this is aimed at the South Downs Way 50 event in April 2019 with Centurion Running but gives you a basic idea of what may be required.

North Downs Way 50, Centurion Running, May 2018. I took my Gopro with me on the NDW50 earlier this year, I only filmed the first 30 or so miles though to enable me to concentrate on running.

70 miles over two days all the way around The Isle Of Wight. Lovely event. Apologies for the slight smear on the camera in the second half, plus it is a bit long due to being a two day event.

My video of the awesome London Marathon 2018. Normally I include music on my videos, but this time I thought it best to just let everyone listen to the noise of the crowds which was fantastic.

A very nice ten mile run around Ashdown Forest in East Sussex on a slightly chilly Sunday October morning. Very much Winnie The Pooh territory hence the event name.
New Forest Marathon 2017

Marathon #61 on Sunday 10th September in the lovely New Forest in Hampshire. Very nice course indeed, perfect I would say for those new to trail marathons as the course is pretty flat but very beautiful.

you still running?
Hi Andrew, yes I'm still running. Life has changed the last few years, I'm now a dad of two plus moved house a couple of years ago. Therefore i haven't had as much time to run, video and edit as i had before. Am aiming to get the channel going again when i can. Will do an update video shortly to go over what I've been up to.
11 days to go .scared or what
Thanks 4 sharing. Watching your video, has inspired me to do this as my first half marathon next month. Peace.
Great footage... and pace on your behalf - can I ask was the compulsory kit - compulsory back then as I did spot a few runners with out hydration vests (they must be the locals)... 😂 🤣
I’m running this years in 6 days, completed the Liverpool Rock N Roll marathon 6 years ago but nerves are jangling now! Thank you for the video
I am running this in 10 days time. I cannot wait. Your videos are great!!!!!!!!
Many thanks. It's a great event. Well marshalled and great aid stations. You'll be well looked after. I'll be getting back into the videoing soon. I've had a break since I became a dad 18 months ago. Have a few things lined up for end of this year and for 2022.
@@paulcoe8461 Congratulations!!!!!!!! I don't blame you for taking some time out babies take up a lot of time.
Super effort Paul , some of the Beachy Head route as you know , never easy 👍👍
Just ran this at the weekend! As it was pushed out till April due to Covid the weather was perfect, sunny with very little wind! Cheers for posting👍🏻
Yes it's a great course. One of the toughest I've done. It's a lovely place to run, I was in the area doing the South Downs Way 50 at the same time so I certainly agree about the weather being lovely. Glad you enjoyed the video.
@@paulcoe8461 Hope you did a video of that one! I’m doing the South Downs 100k next month and I’m a bit concerned i might have bitten off more than i can chew after watching the one you did a few years ago! 👊
I've done many Centurion events. 50's and 100's and this is a cracking video. Well done. Probably turned up on my time time this weekend due to this race. Hope you're still doing these races.
Great music! Love it!
Nice tunes !!!
Thanks for sharing this video, and in particular, the post-finish stuff. I’ve signed up for this years’s race and it’s helpful to understand what happens in and around the run itself!
I’m excited to tackle this myself in 2021. Thanks for documenting it
Great effort! This is a good reference for me as I’m doing my first ultra, the ukultra SD 100k in may 2021. The coarse is different and runs from Arundel to Eastbourne but your video gives me an idea of what I can expect! Thanks for posting, good luck on your next race!👍🏻
Great video Paul. I’m new to ultra running and looking forward to my first events next year :) Can I ask why you take additional food with you if food is available at the aid stations?
Great video Paul
Enjoyable. To watch. I'm in training for my first marathon -- the New Forest in September (IF?) -- and your epic movies are great motivation.
Thank you for those kind words David. I`m trying to get some more videos done soon. I`ve been away from videoing for a little while as I became a dad towards the end of last year, so I`ve had the camera away for a while. Should have some training run vidoes up over the coming months and hopefully some proper racing when things get a little closer to normal.
Cheers Paul. 2018 was my first London Marathon. The heat really brought the crowds out. Their support was absolutely deafening. Such an incredible experience. It makes me quite sad to watch this as it's a reminder of what we are missing.
Thank you for posting. This was my first overseas marathon also. Watching this brings back great memories Regarding the distance, my watch showed 26.25 miles so I can only assume your watch must have malfunctioned. Thanks again.
Great vid - let's hope it can go ahead this year so I can make my 50 mile debut!
Absolutely so EXCITIED to be running my first London Marathon 2020, thank you for the video.xx
Hi Helen, I`m glad you enjoyed the video. It`s a wonderful event so make sure you enjoy every minute, I have so many memories from the day. Best of luck to you for LM 2020.
Hi Paul nice video - have you seen my ndw100 video? We go through similar pain 😂😂
Hi Adam, no I haven't, I'll look forward to having a watch tomorrow. Yes we keep doing these crazy things dont we, despite suffering out on the course at times!!
Paul Coe keep up the good work! 👏👏👍
Awesome video Paul!! Well done buddy.! 👍
Great job Paul - that looks a tough course but the scenary makes it enjoyable - I thought your time at 11 was fab personally especially on such a course. Good video too - well done
Running this on Sunday :) Can't wait!
Another great insight. Thank you.. may see you on the start line at Eastbourne on Saturday. Is your strategy to walk the hills or do as many as you can and then walk?
Hi Mark. I think I'll walk pretty much all of the hills, especially in the first ten miles. That's the toughest bit up till we hit the Cuckmere river, so I'd recommend taking the first bit relatively easy. Its certainly a case of keeping plenty in the tank for the latter stages.
Awesome run! Guess I'll see you on the start line in Eastbourne. This will be my first Ultra (#10B450) -- I'm _only_ doing the first half though - Eastbourne to Hove (actually) :-) What time are you starting?
Thanks Mark. I start at 8am. Hoping for 14 hours or so with a bit of luck. Hopefully that gave you some insight into the course, assuming you didn't know it already. The first half is the nicer half so you've chosen well. I should have a video up shortly of the second half. Good luck and I'll maybe see you at the start.
Paul Coe look forward to the next video. May see you on the start line, but I don’t start until 08:40. Very nervous at the moment but excited as well. Good luck for the full 100k
Looks like an awesome route. We ran back harting to Rowlands castle and noticed signs around there about 10 rarer pheasants released, we even saw two of them. Was disappointed to see many of the signs asking people to keep dogs on leads or at least controlled on the paths were snapped off... Shame everybody who uses these trails (enjoys the great outdoors) doesn't look out for the wildlife as much as others. So glad there are charities out there looking out for animals around the world. Do you have a personal donations page or just asking for donations to the charity? Hope the race goes well 👍
Hi Sarah. Yes it`s lovely all the way along that stretch. I agree, there is so much to be seen out in the countryside. I always love seeing the Kestrels and Buzzards overhead. I do have a fundraising page it`s listed here www.justgiving.com/fundraising/paul-coe310819 if you are interested. I`ll be uploading the second half of the event course shortly which was much less windy and noisy that this one!
Hi Sarah. Glad you enjoyed the video. Yes it's a real shame it was cancelled as it's a favourite of mine. Hopefully it will return again soon as it's a lovely route and event. Thanks for watching.
I hope they bring the Marathon option back next year, didnt get the chance to run it. Loved the half this year though! Great video :)
Entertaining paul
Really interesting. I'm hoping to do the SDW50 next year
Cheers Dan. It's a great race so I'd highly recommend it. I've done it three years in a row now and look forward to doing it again. The organisers really do look after you so you'd be in safe hands.
@@paulcoe8461 I just need to get my first marathon cracked this weekend and then hopefully I can get a solid year of training in. Thanks for your response!
Nice vid. And a belated well done.
Well done Paul. One for my list
Too video Paul
Many thanks Simon. One of the nicest places I've run.
Great film Paul. Love the Seven Sisters. Thanks. 👍
Top video Paul. So different to how it looks in summer
Great run Paul. I ran last in Bin Forest trails near Huntly Aberdeenshire. 6" of snow all the way. Tough!! Looking forward to seeing some more videos in 2019.
Thank you Simon. I'll keep them coming. Doing a 100k race in August so will be plenty of training and race videos to come. That sounds like an epic run where you are. I'd love to do something up that way one day.
Paul with your experience you could try the Lairig Ghru race www.scottishhillracing.co.uk/RaceDetails.aspx?RaceID=RA-0067 and the West Highland Way Race westhighlandwayrace.org Let me know if you are i'll cheer you on.
Top video Paul. Well done for the pb as well
Wow 😮 amazing effort!
Hiya Paul, desperately wanted to do this race next year but didn’t sign up in time unfortunately! What model UD pack do you have there? Is it the mountain 4.0? In the market for a good pack that’s going to last me a few years
Yes it`s a Mountain Vest 4.0. It`s a little expensive but will certainly last you. Lots of capacity and I like the main zipped compartment to store emergency stuff out of the way. I`d certainly recommend it. I`ll try and put a video up about the pack to do a little review of it.
Thanks for that mate, I don’t mind spending a good amount if it’s good quality and will last a couple of years, it’s definitely what I’m leaning towards.
Great channel
Thank you very much.
Congratulations Paul, best of luck for WW50 & the Slam
Thank you Geoff. Many thanks for watching.
Great vid. Brings back some happy, albeit painful memories.
Thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Great video. Definitely looking forward to doing it next year after seeing this 👍🏻
It`s a lovely route and event Dean. I very much enjoyed the day.
Well done Paul! Can't believe you hadn't seen Mary poppins until last year.
Its been on my bucket list for the past 25yrs, and 2018 will be my 25th consecutive Snowdonia Marathon, and every one of them wearing NUMBER 1 0 8. Here's for another quarter of a century of running the Welsh Wall. PETER JOHN RHYS LEWIS
Hi Paul I've noticed you've switched from the Salomon vest to the UD vest since last year... which one do u prefer? I'm going for SDW100 next year!
Hi Sam. I found that with the Salomon I was struggling to fit all of the gear in that I wanted to take. I normally take extra food on top of the mandatory kit. The Ultimate Direction has double the capacity plus it has a zipped main area to keep stuff more secure. To be honest they are both great and I would recommend both. I still use the Salomon for marathons but the UD I use for anything over 50k.
