Hi. When I press the clutch the switches off any idea what the problem might be?

It happens to all Tiguans, I'm serious, volkswagen should be sued. This is unacceptable, that a car manufacturer can get away with such poor quality.

Needs to be a class action lawsuit against Volkswagen

What Year and Mark/Model of VW Golf is this on? A Mark 4 or a Mark 5?

Is this a VW Golf MK4 or a MK5? The pedal seems a lot different to the clutch pedals I have seen on other VW Golf MK5s

On the later models ie 51 plate onwards like mine, the metal has been replaced by a plastic clip. When this breaks you will be in the same situation. The clip is cheap to buy £5-£8 at a vw spares outlet. It took me about 20 minutes to fit and was back on the road. As yet i have not been able to find any vids showing the actual job but the method is pretty much similar to this.

Happened to me twice on an a3 8l. If you get the bracket welded make sure its a reinforced weld;) also use plastic cable ties to hold the compressed spring (compress in a vice) while inserted into place. Then snip cable ties & all good👍

i've just become a member of this club 😂😢 just happened to my audi A3 1.8T clutch clip snapped like a twig been aware of this fault since day one but like most of us think na it will never happen to me lol ordered a clip so how much of a pain in the ass is this to replace and will i swear alot ????

I've just had same problem , I bought part was about £2.00 and welded it up without taking pedal off , was bit fiddly but can be done

Ive had 2x Audi A3 (8l) and this happened on BOTH of them. My mates VW Golf had same thing too..... Audi should be issuing new upgraded pedals that dont snap --- for FREE!!!!

mine snapped today . sourced a part . pedal and housing. not looking to fit this. poorly construction assembly :(

I've got the same problem mate, would it be better to get it weld or replace a new clutch assembly ?

can someone help me i got a golf 1.8 when i just touch the pedal there's a rattling noise what could that be.i'm not sure but i think it could be release bearing can someone bare with me here. any suggestions please

i had the same problem with my jetta but mine desided to break so a quick fix is just a little PL (glue) and is great now ( hard to find the part at the time lol )
