Royal Enfield Hunter 350 FuelX Pro+ Testing - Part One
มุมมอง 23524 วันที่ผ่านมา
The latest performance modification for the Royal Enfield Hunter that I want to test is the FuelX Pro . The manufacturer makes some pretty bold claims. Can I devise a real world test that will actually measure any performance increase? Royal Enfield Hunter Exhaust Note Mix-Tape!
มุมมอง 702 หลายเดือนก่อน
The exhaust note from four different silencers fitted to a Royal Enfield Hunter 350. They are standard silencer, cheap universal one from Amazon, universal fitting SuperTrapp with 12 outlet discs fitted and the same SuperTrapp with 6 outlet discs fitted. Which one do you prefer? Had hoped to be able to do some performance testing of these as well but that's going to have to wait for another day...
Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Exhaust Downpipe Testing and Air Filter Retest
มุมมอง 1412 หลายเดือนก่อน
A short comparison test between the standard downpipes and the Delkevic downpipes to see if they made any performance difference in my 30-50mph test. Also a retest of DNA air filter and cover verses the standard air filter / cover combination to see if our initial results were corroborated. Modified Sealey Manual Tyre Changer Update
มุมมอง 1332 หลายเดือนก่อน
A previous video showed the Sealey tyre changer modified to accept a rotating duck head mount / demount tool. It work well, but I didn't like the drop centre tools that could be pushed forward and mark the rim paint. So I had a little play with an alternative, which has given me food for further thought... Testing the Dragy Performance Box on the Royal Enfield Hunter 350
มุมมอง 143 หลายเดือนก่อน
Like many of you, I like tinkering with my bike, but do those performance goodies we add really make any noticeable difference to performance? Not having ready access to a dyno, could the Dragy Performance Box be used to measure any performance gains? In this video I setup the box on the Royal Enfield Hunter and head out to have a little play... To keep up to date with our progress, subscribe t...

Just subscribed to your channel, love your approach to testing, i.e. real-world vs dyno. Been playing around with my RE Hunter here in the USA. So far, I've fitted the DNA filter and cover, the Kent stage 2 cam from Hitchcocks, and a tachometer (rev-counter). Based on the performance gains thus far that my "seat of the pants" scale gave me, I've changed to a 16-tooth front sprocket. The back roads in my part of the USA (north central New York state) are mostly 40 - 55 mph (64.3 - 88.5 kph), with hills. In the original configuration first gear was pretty much useless, I couldn't even get across an intersection without needing to up shift. I now ride the bike more like it's a four speed with an overdrive, than a five speed (fourth gear will now take the bike to 70 mph (112.6 kph)) at about 5900 rpm. Now I can use fourth or fifth gear to keep up with traffic depending on conditions (headwind or hills). In regard to the exhaust system, I keep switching between the stock silencer and a KP Performance unit I ordered from "The Bikerz" in India (Neeraj is great to work with), this is based on personal preference. Much as your testing has shown, while the KP Performance unit is throatier in the low range, it's also louder when on our highways. As I suspected, the cat pipe doesn't harm the performance enough to tempt me to change it. Keep up the good work you are doing, I know many who are reading this would be interested in the mileage vs. performance results you may note from your testing of the FuelX Pro+.
Thank you for your comments, it's always nice to hear from people who like tinkering with their bikes as much as I do! I have some more testing that I'd like to do on the Hunter, but that's going to have to wait until 2025 now...
How do you know what rpm you are doing?
I've fitted a cheap digital tacho. It's not pretty and it has it's foibles but it does give me some idea of the rpm.
Eagerly waiting for the 2nd part
I hope to have an update soon but the weather's been pretty dreadful so I haven't been able to do as much testing as I would have liked.
I have cut open the stock filter cover to make it like the dna one! Almost all the perf gain, none of the cost😎
Thanks for a great test series. Very informative. Considering that expansion chambers on two strokes did wonders for power scavenging, I wonder how much effect expansion has within the pipe flow of a four stroke single. I have both the Delkevic down pipe with the matched 9" / 225mm oval end can. In this set up, the first expansion occurs as soon as the exhaust exits the cylinder head, going to the larger diameter of the down pipe. But then the short, double bend connecting pipe (see Delkevic's photo of the components in the kit) expands a second time at its rear end, where the even larger diameter of the actual silencer sits over the connecting pipe. I never did test my set up without baffle, as I knew that even with it, it would already be very loud, and, in general, I always prefer the somewhat refined sound quality with baffle as opposed to a raw sound. But even so, I subjectively felt the engine felt noticeably perkier and rev happier with the new set up. So, do two minor expansions in the pipework contribute? The bike feels good, but who knows for sure about the technicalities? Would the designers have done this according to certain calculations?
I did message Delkevic to see if they would divulge their reasoning for their choice of pipe diameters but I've had no response yet.
Thanks you, good job!
Can you post a full link to where you can buy the modified part pls?
Hi, it's very much a home built construction, so there's no kit of parts available to purchase as such. The duck head itself can be bought online - ebay, Amazon etc. The rest of mine was made from scrap bits of steel that I had laying around. There are more details about the mods on my website. www.offbeatbikesmagazine.co.uk/sealey-motorcycle-tyre-changer--duck-head--modification
It certainly made a difference on my Meteor, bum-dyno is accurate.....honest. ;-)
is that on the stock silencer?
Yes!
my last bike (a honda deauville) had a honda touring screen that had two cut outs in the bottom of the screen - if you completely enclose the screen area you might find that you actually end up with more turbulence than if you allow a little bit through
Yes! Still busy trying that screen in various different positions...
my Hunter is now 6 months and 1800 miles old. I'd like to replace the exhaust (more for sound than performance to be fair!) and have found this quite useful (in as much as it might not be worth spending the money to decat the bike for 0.14 seconds increase). I do wish Delkevic offered a black-coated version of that exhaust system though!
Interesting, thank you. I found the Kent cam had, by far, the greatest effect on performance.
What's the thing with the blue flashing light?
It's a Dragy GPS performance box. It's what I use to measure the time for the 30mph to 50mph roll on test.
Interesting choice of silencer. I'd be interested to hear how you fare with it. I fitted Delkevic's full Hunter exhaust system with their 225mm oval end can. I was worried it would be too loud, even for earplugs. Unlike your Amazon end can, the 225mm oval does have a small baffle fitted at the inlet end. Without the baffle, one can look straight through the can, just like with your Amozon offering. Anyway, I fitted the silencer with the baffle and even then, the bike is brutally loud, but thankfully, not obnoxiously so and it's still pleasant enough on long distances (with earplugs, which I wear for most journeys anyway). I posted a couple of videos of the fitted exhaust on my TH-cam home page, if you're interested.
Testing of the silencers is next on my list of things to do. I've got the Amazon one to try and a universal fitting SuperTrapp one also. Will check out your TH-cam videos.
