Ty! Worked much better with the original name of the video but I thought it was funny so I left it the same lol
One of the many reasons that Mega Ray created the AG tier.
Exxeguttor got 2nd in worlds 2012
The torkoal in the master ball is crazy
nice video thanks!
Miss anything? Literally everything cause you couldn't slow down to actually talk clearly.
I tried to slow down 😅 I normally talk much faster. I'm sorry about that. I'll try harder in the future to keep a better pace.
I found it fine! @@jadejonnypokemon
I appreciate that 😁 I'm glad you enjoyed
Are you slow or something?
Maybe try not being slow then lmfao ☠️
love the video! you talk really fast 😅
I did? I tried to slow down 😅 I normally talk much faster, I'm sorry.
No, doubles is not the main battle format of the video game series. Singles is, and it always has been. And you never explain how these abilities are "broken" or "mistakes." In fact, you say that the Pokemon these abilities are attached to were never high-tier. Could it be that stronger abilities go on weaker Pokemon to balance them? No, Tropius is actually a counter to Mega-Rayquaza because it could get two Sitrus heals in one turn, maybe.
The official Video Game Championship Series uses Doubles format, I believe we put some footage of those events as background footage. The abilities break core fundamental rules established in Pokemon. "A Pokemon can only have 1 ability." "A Pokemon can only have 1 held item pet battle." "A Pokemon can only attack once per turn." The abilities allow the Pokemon to change that. I'm pretty sure my intro goes over how the video is about how the abilities break the established rules of the game.
Miss anything? I'm still waiting to hear about these game breaking abilities that were mistakes.
They're game breaking in the meaning that they break the rules of the game, not in that they're overpowered or too strong. Mighta used a tad bit of a double meaning for the clickbait, but that's what youtube rewards 🫠 sorry for it coming off misleading, brother.
@@jadejonnypokemon I still don't see any of them as mistakes.
Yea the mistakes part was definitely to get into the algorithm. It has negative connotations and youtube pushes things with negative connotations cause it tends to hold the highest amount of retention. At least that's how it was explained to me.
@@craigmoore7821I would argue that some of the abilities like as one were mistakes because they made calyrex-shadow rider one of the best, if not the best Pokémon in all of vgc
@env3lop yeah, but pokemon is not all about, or even primarily about competitive. If the video was titled properly with the words "... for competitive pokemon," then I could agree, but overall, all these abilities are fine. That's why you have ban lists. That's how you balance out competitive pokemon.
Harvest is indeed a valid ability. i ran a bulky max HP Trevenant with Sitrus Berry & Harvest, with moveset of substitute curse horn leech and shadow ball. put him on my Sunny Day team. 9 out of 10 times it becomes the wall that no one can beat over wifi battle
Nobody is ever prepared to face a Trevenant. We always say we are, but when we actually face it, nope. Never.
glad they are back
Just one minor mistake to point out. The trio aren't dogs, they are big cats. Raikou - Saber Tooth Tiger Suicune - Leopard/Panther Entei - Lion
Also Flash Fire doesn't heal HP from Fire moves, like he claimed for Entei. It powers up the user's Fire-type moves if hit with a Fire attack
I feel like making it so gale wings useres are above 50% hp for the priorty proc it would have been better for Talenflame
i would argue that Garbodor is a more unique and creative design than 80% of gen 1. I don't exactly like it, but i would take it over Muk any day.
real
Tangela should be the new mascot 🤩
Megas were the best gimmick pokemon ever had. The current tera thing isn't too awful but megas were just incredible.
tera allows every Pokémon to become usable, megas allow 500 bst pokemon to become even better, there were like 3 bad pokemon buffed
@@DecidiousGreens Dont get me wrong I do think tera is the second best on the cool side and probably the best on the practicality side since it doesn't require a held item and every pokemon can do it. But megas were just super cool and I can't wait for X/Y to be remade.
i love when i find a hidden gem youtube video
Be sure to share em with me when you find em!
Yo!!! You're popping up in my recommendations now
I pop up in my recommendeds too lol
I highly doubt that the change to Gengar's ability was because they thought it was too strong. It was never even close to as oppressive as Gale Wings Talonflame or Dark Void Smeargle. It was probably just because they thought it made more sense thematically Inner Focus, which now blocks Intimidate, is a much better ability for the legendary dogs than the abilities they were originally planned to have. A team using Inner Focus Entei just won a regional, and if it had Flash Fire instead, it wouldn't have been anywhere near as good Soul Dew was intentionally made far too strong for competitive play because they wanted it to be a fun casual toy to mess around with, always banning it from competitive. They just eventually changed their mind on what they wanted its role to be
I would say the biggest hit was zacians intrepid sword now its once per battle and not every time it gets sent out
Gale winds nerf really sucks. They’ve added so many anti-priority effects that I don’t feel they need to make it not work under full health. If Gale Wings works as it did before, it would allow Pokémon like Bruxish or Farigiraf to shine as counters. (Assuming Talonflame can’t just knock them out anyway, I’m not a competitive expert). What’s the point of introducing new counter effects if you’re just going to nerf the original offender into the ground? Protean just feels lame. I think I’d rather stay water/dark then just change type once. And disguise sucks too. We got loaded dice to make multi hit moves very viable, giving a good counter option to Mimikyu, so I don’t think the 1/8 damage is necessary.
The entire Mankey line could wipe out the world into rubble in 240 business days

The bottle of water I drink creates bubbles there are four times the surface of the sun, is fine.
just telling the truth, GAMEFREAK knows nothing about balancing. Nerfing Cinderace is just out of nowhere AND the nerf included Meowscrada which has very much potential if its not been nerfed. And my favorite Aegislash got 40 points nerfed from BSTs and never seen again in OU
And nerfing Zancian not because of balance ,because of GF need selling new games and introducing new OP pokemons like koraidon and Miraidon.
I can see them reverting the ability if terastilization doesnt come back
The main issue with Aegislash was pre nerfed King's Shield. Halving the Attack of any Pokemon making physical contact with it was pretty dumb, and created a lot of unhealthy 50/50 scenarios and a majority of physical attackers were forced to run EQ. It was still very solid even after the nerf (still being too much for Gen 7 OU), but nowadays Aegislash's pre nerfed stat spread isn't anywhere near some of the insane shit we got in Gen 9. They should have just nerfed King's Shield, Aegislash itself was fine.
They've nerfed so many Pokemon into the ground, then turn around and make ridiculously broken Pokemon. I'm always going to be upset about Walrein reaching OU just to fall into PU within the next four gens.
@@punkysnarks GAMEFREAK: wE nErF Cinderace and Zacian bEcaUsE oF bAlanCe!!! Also GAMEFRAEAK: introducing Flutter Mane and Gholdengo
The Psychic terrain wouldn't really nerf Talonflame's Gale Wings cause terrain effects do not affect Pokémon that aren't grounded AKA Flying types, Levitate users and I guess Pokémon holding the Air Balloon item.
Not gonna lie, I didn't even think about that
Psychic Terrain PROTECTS Pokémon that are grounded from priority moves, doesn't matter whether the user is affected by it or not.
These are not mistakes! Gengar wasn't a Mistake and I believe Haunter still has Levitate. Flash Fire doesn't restore HP but maybe that "mistake" was intentional. The real mistake of Gale Wings was how they nerfed it. It should be Half HP. Soul Dew and Dark void weren't mistakes they were already banned in certain single player Content they should have just increased the ban of Dark void now made it worse than Hypnosis. The mistake was making Soul Dew terrible. Disguise is harder. Maybe should have made other things counter it more.
Got a way to spoil videos my friend. As for a why the title is mistake and why I call it mistakes, its cause the youtube algorithm will push videos with negative connotations more than neutral ones, so a video like, "Pokemon Nerfs GameFreak Thought Necessary" won't get pushed as hard towards an outward audience, and unfortunately, as a creator trying to grow, that's the world I live in. Gamefreak deeming a nerf doesn't mean the Pokemon is a mistake, it means that the original idea behind a Pokemon's ability may have had more thought put into it's flavor than it's balance, that means GameFreak made the mistake of the ability not the Pokemon. Yeah, slight oversight on our end on Flash Fire, my editor looked at Water Absorb and Volt Absorb and assumed Flash Fire did the same (being a casual player I can't really fault him for such a small mistake), that's why I said verbally they gain a bonus for taking the hit, because I know they do different things. I don't think that's how you balance Gale Wings personally, with moves like Life Dew now, Heal Pulse, and Talonflame itself being able to use Roost, I think they just didn't realize how strong Gale Wings would be on a Pokemon with such a middle of the pack attack stat. I never mentioned Dark Void? Don't know where that one came from but I think you may have missed the portions of the video where I referred to official formats? Pokemon balances their game around official competitive formats because that's what they support, so a move that works like double spore with slightly lower accuracy is extremely strong when the format is Doubles, the official format for Pokemon VGC. Balancing a move with such a low downside by removing the ability for the only legal Pokemon that can use it be able to use it and reducing its accuracy, they've created a healthier competitive environment for the official formats. Soul Dew was banned in the official Pokemon Video Game format for over 10 years, changing its effect so it could finally at least be considered to be used is perfectly fine, you can have a different opinion though. Disguise was way too strong out the gate and that's why Pokemon changed it immediately. Struggling to think up ways to counter it kinda shows why it needed to be changed. Short of introducing more moves that ignore abilities or making multi-hit moves stronger, you can't really reasonably work around the ability without creating an unbalanced game format. Imagine a world where Bullet Seed was base 50 Power per hit or where it became typical for moves to ignore abilities like Flash Fire, Volt Absorb, Water Absorb, Fluffy, etc, it may make disguise worse, but it also immediately removes non-tanky Pokemon being able to switch in, hurts more Pokemon than helps, all for what? To counter Mimikyu? I think Pokemon made the right choice on this one.
@@jadejonnypokemon Wasn't Darkrai not even allowed in VGC. If it was the same for over 10 years and banned why change it to a clone of the Giratina like items the Creation Trio I think. At that point they should have just deleted Soul dew from the game and made like Remanant Due (Latias) and Remntant Dew (Latios) and had their effects be the new item effect because it would probably be better like that. When it comes to disguise it depends on how it's put. I really thought GF was going to go the route of introducing more ignoring abilities/moves but when it comes to ignoring abilities and moves they didn't even have to do it specifically in a way where it ignores everything. Take the BulletProof/Wind Rider and such concept and apply it to moves by taking a lot of abilities and putting them into categories. Something like Specter Slash. Sharpness move, Learned by Gallade, Ignores the ability of Spectral abilities and deals double damage to them. Power 65. Type: Ghost. Something like that. Honestly another Gale wings idea is to have the FULL HP be one thing that guarantee's it but ontop of that make it so if they used a move of the type they get the Gale wings status and maybe make it a seeable status either by how they look or just how Pokemon even in the games let's you see the status meaning the moment they use a Fire move or something they lose that status and can't keep spamming it after and after making it possible for CB Brave bird spam to exist but at the same time so does Psychic terrain and on some turns it would lose the ability to have it's BB priority only to gain it the next turn but what if you were in Psy terrain and facing Armarouge and you're Brave bird didn't kill, you only have Flying moves and it's Flash fire for your overheat with your last move being status? I mean my comments behind a Read more and I feel people seldom listen to me + most people who are looking at comments likely know or will learn they have a chance of spoiling themselves. I only saw Darkvoid in the editing but that's why I brought it up not as if you talked about it but I wanted to say my opinion on it. Since it's the most undeserved and unnecessary nerf in the way it was done. Although I understand why you titled the video like that. Let it be known that I don't hate you nor the video exactly. I'm simply responding. It's a habit of mine whether I know things are likely baits which I kinda expected this to be more than what it was or whether they are serious sometimes all it takes is the titles for me to do that. The only planned part of my comment was literally the first 4 words and !.
@@zelz3011 Yea Darkrai isn't allowed but Smeargle was seeing a lot of usage because of it so they nerfed accuracy and also made it so Smeargle couldn't use. Maybe they were considering allowing Darkrai at some point? I don't know. Probably just so they didn't have to keep adding it into the rules document is my guess. They've also been super willing to nerf abilities and stats the last 3 gens. I think they were trying to avoid hurting as many Pokemon as possible while also hurting Mimikyu and I think an ability nerf was the best way to do that. Yea comment sections be like that, I try to read them when I get them but you're right, anyone going to the comments should expect spoilers lol I'm glad you don't hate me lol You're good man :) I do like the discussion you started. Def got my editor and me talking.
@@jadejonnypokemon My thing was if they were going to prevent smeargle from using it why nerf it to begin with. And if they weren't going to allow Darkrai then like why do both. It's like if they had the power to prevent Smeargle from using it by that point or the next gen shouldn't it have been buffed back because now it's like Hoopa unbound? And if not why is Darkrai suffering with a move more innacurate than Hypnosis? If they did let Smeargle still use it and they can change how a move works or doesn't based on a Pokemons name why not make it so only Darkrai gets 80% Accuracy and anyone else gets 40% or less? My thing is Pokemon is so weird because now in Gen 9 we got 300 Power nukes and other things heck Landorous-T is about to be UU if things don't go well or was close to it and I think Garchomp is still UU but despite the fact they make certain thing sstronger and try to one up they seem to always nerf which I don't get? Why not just let things get progressively stronger and buff the weak?
@@zelz3011 Yea Gamefreak has gone kinda nuts lately with the whole balancing thing. Like they make changes that don't make sense for singles or doubles and then drop Pokemon that just make some of the former top Pokemon look bad. I was talking to my friend the other day about how Garchomp has bad speed and he was like, "it has over 90 so its good." and I was like, dude everything is over 100 now. Its kinda weird on their part.
I don't think they nerfed protean/libero because they were broken I think they berfed it because they were to lazy to code how it will work with tera
I could see that too.
That's... actually a valid point
I honestly would have made it just not work with Tera. It balances the mon out in that sense by making it so that, while its type does constantly shift, you know it's not going to run Tera, most likely, since that takes it away. And if it does, it at least loses it.
Awesome video
Thank you :)
Nice video! There was a typo with the dog trio abilities (asorb instead of absorb) but other than that it was great
Just fired my editor for this (jk jk love him) Appreciate the compliment :)
Flash Fire also doesn’t restore HP. It boosts the power of fire moves.

I wish swsh could have an amazing story, I love the idea of saving the region from a giant demonic hand with 2 box art doggos but they didn’t execute swsh in the best way they should and maybe could have. Also incineroar having a good design is debatable.
Yea I loved SwSh, I just hate the story was so weird sometimes. I like the idea of a heel Pokemon, I think I shoulda elaborated on that more lol
Why isn't Kingdra of Pokemon Silver and Gold? At that time it was impossible to defeat and the strongest adversary you could face
Truthfully, it was Meganium but me editor forgot to include it 😅 I personally never knew anyone who struggled with Kingdra but it honestly should've been Miltank cause well you know, Whitney. But I guess Kingdra was a strong choice too.

I'm glad someone appreciated the pun 🤣 my editor cringed
Kommo-o was still kinda decent in gen 7 OU. It was OU by usage. Clangorous soulblaze was an insane move with 185 base power that also gave you an Omni boost. Belly drum + salac berry with substitute for a surprise sweep could also work. Fairies definitely hurt its viability a bit but it didn’t really end up mattering with a x1.5 boost to SpAtk with flash cannon and stealth rock down. Only a few scarfers were faster and could threaten and only a few fairies were bulky enough to 1v1 it
That's actually really cool to know! I mostly pay attention to VGC so I tend to forget to look up Smogon viability! I'll keep that in mind when I make future scripts that could talk about viability :)
