    Thank you for making this video. I really would love to have snap in or implants. After a horrible accident and many surgeries later, my teeth had to be removed & now it's so painful, hard to eat anything & embarrassing to be wearing dentures. Worse that I rarely wear them due to uncomfortable & painful. I've checked into getting one of these but the cost is outrageous for me, even with payments. I still like checking & watching videos such as this for more information because I do hope to be able to someday get them. Reading & hearing about others success with their new teeth is heartwarming. New technologies in such ways are also a nice read.

    Is not the titanium retained over denture better? It’s certainly stronger as the bite force is spread over the nearby implants.. Am I right!!???

    • @davidscardella5091
      @davidscardella5091 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's an astute observation. In some cases, a titanium bar is used to connect (or splint) the implants together. This does spread the forces and creates a more rigid fit. In general, I find "bar overdentures" to be unnecessary in the lower jaw in most cases. In the upper jaw, the bone is different and splinting implants together will likely lead to a better result. That said, adding a titanium bar makes the treatment significantly more expensive. There is also the disadvantage of more difficult cleaning and if one or two implant fails, the bar might no longer be usable. Either way, it's definitely a discussion that should be had with the treating dentist.

      @@davidscardella5091 Thankyou for your reply! I’m having the Bar myself. My dentist managed to place 6 implants in my upper mouth. But couldn’t place any where that last two teeth are on both sides because I had them out a few years ago and the bone was reabsorbed. The bar is able to go further back and give me a full set of teeth. Where as if I’d just had the implants, no bar, he might of had to leave the last two chewing teeth out. Can’t afford the Zirconia unfortunately so having the Acrylic Hybrids. I had the choice of Bar or no Bar and chose the bar for longer term chance of success. Costing me £18,000..!! 👍🏼

      Yes, typically every year to 18 months the nylon inserts need to be replaced. They can be changed very easily and are relatively inexpensive. If they are not maintained, the implant component in the mouth can wear down and those are much more costly to replace.

      Good question to ask your dentist/surgeon. There are many ways to do it and I cannot comment on your case specifically without knowing the details. In my office, for snap in dentures that are removable, they are not something we attach immediately. Typically the waiting period is 4-6 months.

    Hi Dr. My father had all his teeth removed. He's getting snap on dentures with 4 implants upper, 6 implants lower with a bar. I'm worried if 6 implants instead of 4 implants is really worth it for his lower arch. I was hoping for some insight on the benefits (or risks) of having 6 implants instead of 4 implants for the lower arch. I'd assume it's better because it's more sturdy and can handle more bite force, but I'm concerned about the cost and possible risks. We are confident in his dentist and will talk about options next appointment but was hoping to get some other peoples' opinions. It's been really stressful deciding. Thank you

    • @centerforprogressivedentis4923
      @centerforprogressivedentis4923 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tony. Typically the upper jaw requires at least 4 implants and doing a bar in the upper jaw is usually more advantageous than the lower jaw. That being said, every patient is unique and there is no one right solution. There must be a good reason the dentist wants to do 6 implants and a bar in the lower jaw. It would be a reasonable question to ask if there are other options, like 4 implants without the bar. Open communication with the dentist and a full understanding of all treatment options is so important in these cases and it’s what we strive for, but doesn’t always happen completely. Good luck.

    • @perseus9428
      @perseus9428 ปีที่แล้ว

      They should ALWAYS be removed for sleep. If nothing else, for the sake of keeping bacterial grown around the implant parts at a minimum. Bruxism does put more stress on implants but , since implant supported snap on dentures need to be removed at night, night time bruxism won't put any strain on the implants.

    It gets soooo annoying reading comments about people complaining about the prices. First off....you literally can save 75% by going to Costa Rica, Mexico, India, Thailand ECT and please don't think for a second that American Dentists are any better. The work is the same, the materials are the same, the choices are the same the only difference is the price. Plus most overseas locations offer a LIFETIME GUARANTEE. Now... before you continue to be negative and complain about...what happens if I have problems? Well depending on where you live you can probably travel back to that country a dozen times and still save money. My best friend is a dentist in Mexico...I have been there six times and I have gone with her to the stores, labs ECT and it's absolutely insulting how much these American Dentists are marking up the prices. Absolutely insulting. So do yourselves a favor...stop complaining...do some research...go overseas and then after a year or two make a video and put am end to these greedy American Dentists. It's the only way to stop them from charging ridiculous amounts of money.

    A question for the doctor. I have few teeth on top and mostly the rest have top of tooth broke off. I had a beautiful bridge, front 4 teeth. With the bridge and 2 built up teeth on each side of bridge so I could eat enough. I have never in my life bite an apple or ate peanuts or bit ice. I was happy like I was as I inherited bad teeth. I took such good care of my teeth but it was genetics. A dentist took out my very sturdy, great front bridge that was made with 3 of my own teeth used as abutments. My smile is gone, my top lip now is barely visible. He took it out to clean n was suppose to put it back. It's a horror story as I won't bore u with. When he put them back I could tell they were not as secure as before. It took him forever to get the bridge out and the abutment teeth, my own real teeth must have came out too. If I was told the abutment teeth could come out too I would never have allowed him to take out my bridge. So when I got home I felt one part of my beautiful bridge come loose. It was never loose before this, it so secure permanent. Let me smile and eat. But now it was destroyed. It came out within hours and I had not ate ur even drank yet. I'm told my bridge cant be put back in, that I need top dentures. I've seen several dentists and oral surgeons and no ones story matches. One says I need 9 extractions, one says 6, one 7. That is sketchy to me. One says I'll need bone grafts and something else done, that's from my initial free consult. One says they wont know if I need bone grafts, etc until they start working on it. The saddest part of the story is. No one takes my insurance. I have a disabled child that's needs me to be able to take care of him. But I havent really ate for exactly 2 months, since this happened because I have no eating surface. I have an awful gagging problem so I'd need implants. One dentist only does the 4 on something. One said I can do mini or 4 thing. Through my research now that all this is forced on me. Seems mini is the best choice as it's cheaper. They all want to pull all top out in one day. Health wise I cant endure that but no one cares. I have 2 upper teeth each side toward back that are digging in my bottom gums that have no teeth and caused awful ulcerations. I feel at the least they should come out now. This happened after bridge came out as now they touch bottom. I can't go on much longer like this not eating. I have high cholesterol and was PRE diabetic. So it's not like I can live on pudding and milkshakes. I've had a choking problem already diagnosed so I cant eat with no teeth. As I need to fully chew everything. Like all dentist said, "well ppl can eat with no teeth" I'm not that person. I feel like this is just about money. I also read that a ct is needed to see if ur even a candidate for implants and I dont see that in any estimate. Nor has anyone mentioned that. They have a place that you have to pay to listen to a seminar on implants, than pay to talk to a dentist. Which if I had the money I'd do it to see if they can tell a better answer but I don't. They are all going off a panarex x ray. the all around my mouth x ray and oral exam. I feel I can't trust anyone, and no one will make a long term payment plan. They all want huge down payment and 3 huge payments. I really need this done and am thinking to start a go fund ne account but I wonder why would anyone help me. I need this done to survive to nourish myself but sadly looks like implants ate looked at as cosmetic. How do I know who to trust. I'm a mom to 8. One of my children had brain cancer, 2 are disabled so any monies I did have was all depleted. I feel like I'll just die soon from malnutrition. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks if you got this far.

I went to a dentist in Reedley California they looked at my mouth and side they said I could have implants but they do the implants with studs and then they use a denture the Snap-on but it's going to cost $28,000 for the top and 28000 for the bottom that's horseshit. I wish I could find someone implants is what I'm looking for I hate to wear dentures the last place I went to they made him so big that they fell out I could not talk I had to have it as I could not open my mouth or talk that's horseshit I could make my own teeth like George Washington had wooden teeth or I can just go back to school and make my own teeth the way I want them and then glue them in myself but that's not going to happen there's so many dentist out there that charge an arm and a leg just to get you in sign a contract here you go all right you come tomorrow will start working on your mouth pull all your teeth out very funny I have no damn teeth in my mouth it's been a long time I have a hard time chewing my food I use my tongue to break things up I'm so fed up with life right now because I can't get anybody to help me out if you can help me out I really appreciate it I am a good candidate to put implants in my mouth they cost so damn much I can't afford it but someone out there this reading this could you help me out I really need someone out there who can help me out to put dentures in my mouth I have one roof in my mouth and Dentures are not going to do it what Dentures I can't swallow my food I can't talk right I can't even eat right there made out of plastic. Implants are made of titanium they put studs in your gums and they start putting tees in there that do not come out that cost so much please help me someone out there who has a heart who can do this for me I really appreciate it thank you very much Robert Azevedo

      WIth a "Snap In denture" most dentists will use a temporary or immediate denture right away, which is NOT connected to the implants. The implants need to heal in the bone for 3-6 months before attaching them to the denture. You should be able to sleep on your back or side, whatever is comfortable.

    Hi Dr. & Thanks for the speedy reply. I understand that the cost for the cone CT is required. I am located in Nassau County,NY. I do have a very important question though. In your experience, and the obvious variables put aside, given that I've been told I have "a very good amount of bone" on my lower jaw with minimal bone loss for a 55 yr. old man, & I never smoked: for a lower snap in denture, Did I make a mistake by healing fully 2 years ago and now hoping 2 implants on lower jaw will take properly? Are my chances for successfully receiving 2 lower implants greatly increased if 2 implants are put in the same day as ten lower extractions? I appreciate your time and opinion. Sincerely, Jeff L.

      No you have not made a mistake. If you have a good amount of bone, everything will be fine. Very often we do not place implants at the time of extraction.

    Hello Dr. I am in need of a lower snap in. My extractions are fully healed and I would like to know if you can include the cone CT in my consult. I have spent a lot of time and money so far. Thank you so much, sincerely, Happy holidays! Jeff L.

      Jeff L where are you located Jeff? We charge $250 for our CBCT because it’s an extremely expensive machine and interpreting the data requires training and expertise. Many offices charge more than we do. We also spend a lot of time with our patients to talk through their case and CBCT results in great detail during the consult. I hope this explains it. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    is it possible to get the top without the part covering the palate? I have reg. dentures but the part that cover my palate goes back too far & gags meto where I cannot wear them at all. the bottom back parts, on both sides, is the same way too much of the artificial gum (plastic part) goes back too far. my dentist yrs ago tried to fix it but said they couldn't do any more to it. I can't even keep the top& bottom in my mouth at the same time for longer than 5 seconds it makes me gag.

    • @davidscardella5091
      @davidscardella5091 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is possible, in the right situation. There are many different designs and options and a palate-less overdenture is one option. This may help with your gagging issue.

    Here goes another doctor dentist talk about the cost for us before you talk about the mouth that’s the most important thing and then the dentist talk about everyone’s different note you can give a ballpark figure what the causes it’s up there 20 to 30,000 simple as that

    • @centerforprogressivedentis4923
      @centerforprogressivedentis4923 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Scott I’m not quite sure what the point of your comment was. Given there was no punctuation, it was difficult to follow. But the number one question we get is “how much does this cost?” $20-30k is accurate for certain dental implant devices, but REALLY high for snap-in dentures. Depending on the situation, it could be $5k or it could be $15-20k. If there’s a question I could help clarify for you, please let me know.

    What's the difference between snap on dentures and regular implants like(all on 4)?

    • @centerforprogressivedentis4923
      @centerforprogressivedentis4923 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Megahips Megahips good question. A “snap in denture” or overdenture is removable. The same type of implant is used in an all-on-4 procedure, however the prosthetics are different. With the All on 4 (sometimes more than 4 implants are used) the teeth are screwed into the implants and cannot be removed by the patient. Only the dentist can remove it for maintenance and cleaning. There is usually a significant cost difference as well, the removable option being less costly than the fixed option.

      Snap on dentures 28000 permanent implants how much more

    • @davidscardella5091
      @davidscardella5091 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robertacevedo2437 where did you get a quote for $28,000? Was that upper and lower? It totally depends on the number of teeth to be extracted, any grafting needed, number of implants being placed, region of the country or country it's being performed, whether a specialist is involved, etc. In our area (greater Boston, MA), a "permanent implant bridge" aka All-on-4 type prosthesis (fixed hybrid) goes for $30-40k per arch.

    What about people that are on blood thinners because of heart stents? The surgery and bleeding involved? Thanks from New Mexico.

    • @centerforprogressivedentis4923
      @centerforprogressivedentis4923 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends what "blood thinners" you are taking. Sometimes the dentist will consult with your primary care physician or cardiologist to discuss a short holiday (typically 3-5 days) from the medication. It's not always possible to come off the medication and then special precautions are taken. Typically there is not a lot of bleeding during these surgeries on healthy patients.
