It's non true. In this case the Lionesses defends their sons, because the alpha male Lion (or a nomad) wants to kill or exile. The great Lion is focused on a son in particular.
That young male lion will grow up to have his own strong pride one day. I love the strong bond with lions, so incredible. I did think once that the lionesses did all the work while the male king did nothing but he protects his pride with strength, fierceness and passion.

Usually, young lions of this age run away from the adult lion, but in this scene we see the young ones challenging the lion to the point that one of them slaps the adult lion in the face 0:52, so the latter feels insulted, so she slapped the youngster with lightning speed 0:55 which angered the mother, then she exploded like a bullet in the lion's face.
I was in awe with that lioness coming from far behind and smashed into his face.. unbelievable!!!!!😮And there are a few male subadults and a few lionesses who fought the dominant male...Also you can see that the male is outnumbered the subadults are fighting back, but the have not the experience and confidence to give him a lesson, because of the male lions dominance...
This makes us see how powerful one full-grown lion is, now much bigger than the lionesses and also how they don't really want to hurt each other, just make him go away.

There were 5 young males and 2 females. 4 of the males were fighting and both females were fighting at any given time.
