Video taken after installation of the rebuilt engine (replaced the main bearings and ground the crankshaft main journals). The valve clearances are noisy and needed three separate adjustments before settling down. The car runs a standard K-127 carburettor and has Bosch electronic ignition from a '92 Golf. It's covered about 3000km since this video was shot, and is a lot of fun!

1988 Lada 21077 - 1300cc right hand steering. 170,000 miles (270,000km). Cold start at 15 Celsius using a small amount of choke and throttle, then tickover with no choke. Ignition: Lada electronic; Carburettor: Lada DAAZ 2105, the original to the car. Engine: standard and not overhauled, except one replacement exhaust valve and cylinder head decarbonisation at 113,000 miles (180,000km).

1972 Moskvich 427. Sold new, 6th Jan 1973. "Retired" in about 1990. Bought by me in 1997 and restored, returning to the road in 2000. Has since covered 30,000 miles/50,000km. (Total run 98,000miles/ 157,000km)

British 1972 Moskvich 427, 1500cc, with Bosch ignition system from 1980s VW Polo. Moskvich distributor has original advance/retard mechanisms, but uses Hall effect sender and ignition amplifier with 1 Ohm coil. Centrifugal advance is adjusted to reduce degrees of advance, but static timing is slightly advanced on normal.
