By adding flams to the inverted paradiddles many cool drum kit grooves are created. This video expands on the ;flam the diddles' concept but this time, application to the drum kit. The previous video breaks down the ideas on the pad, the link to that video is here

Great lesson!

You are an excellent teacher. I wish you could incorporate some over-head shots. I think I could absorb your lessons more quickly that way. None-the-less I do get a lot out of your lessons. Even though I'm not a drummer, I learn them on the drum and then transfer them to my Jazz Violin. I really think all Jazz Musicians, regardless of their instrument, should learn what you are teaching. Cheers, Jack
Cheers Jack, good call about the overhead shots. I do need to get onto some more camera angles. Thanks for watching.
Hugely useful specially the offbeat stuff.
Thanks Jonathan, glad it was helpful
Are you flaming at all?
Yeah, flams are in there.
Too fast teaching. Slow it down mate.

Most welcome. Greeting from Australia
Thanks Neal, let me know how ya go getting this down. It takes a bit but it’s worth the effort Cheers Dave
I like this it’s very nice. I see very few examples on TH-cam these days that really catch my attention but your pattern is excellent. I just wish I had the money to buy your book but unfortunately right now money is tight, you understand maybe someday!
Thanks buddy! I just picked up a big apple ride(meinl). I was thinking that ride sounds like mine!!. I don't see many about but I love the sound! It has a nice click/wash seperation. It does have a really small bell though. Great lesson!! Cheers
Hey mate Yeah I love the Meinl. It’s a a flat ride which gives that great stick definition. Thanks for watching, the blues form is a goodie. Keep groovin Dave
The left-hand can play patterns out of the Ted Reed syncopation book using this form and reading I believe this page 29 or 30 in the Ted Reed syncopation book while the right hand plays time
Use page 37 of the syncopation book
@@ThePracticePadBook : yeah, you’re right it is page 37. Thanks.
You have opened me a door. Very much appreciated!
Cool! Creates freedom within a structure.
Love it, many thanks.
Cheers Paul, hope ya get some mileage out of it.

Awesome!
helpfull for me.. thanks)
Cool, glad to hear
this is difficult and not at all yawn-inducing. i like the way you distribute this rudiment on the drums. do you actually play 7A or 5A or both? greetings franco
Cheers mate Depends how tired you are I suppose? Haha
@@ThePracticePadBook as long as they are not chopsticks, there is no need to worry about you
Hi Franco, I use 5As, I find the 7As a bit small. What do you use?
@@ThePracticePadBook Hi Dave, I also prefer to play with 5A, but I'll try anything lighter and thinner. I don't have a rehearsal room. Playing quietly in my living room on my Gretsch is terribly exhausting, but with your 4 stick motion explanation and eating spaghetti with neighbours at my place, it can only go well, haha
🥱
is there a need for this lmao
bloody legend mate, thanks!
Cool as, most welcome
Sir, do you know it's amazing? 😊
Ah, thanks mate!
Good stuff

Thank you for the concise and practical content. The cymbals that you are using are lovely, what model in the Bosphorus range are they ? keep the content coming, I too am a predominantly traditional grip player so I can relate your technique to my own playing.
Hi Paul, thanks for the kind words. I am using the Bosphorus Masters on my left. My main ride is the Graham Morgan Signature ride, he picked it out for me when I studied under him. Graham is an Australian drumming legend.
Hi, many thanks for sharing. I’m working for a long time on my roll trying the develop sensitivity in my fingers to get the right bounce from the sticks and to achieve a proper and swinging roll. Your explanation is very helpful. Thanks again.
Awesome, so glad it is helpful.
