Resumes are important but not enough: While resumes provide foundational information, they need to be complemented by strong communication skills and the ability to highlight accomplishments during interviews.
The importance of storytelling: Job seekers should focus on telling compelling stories that showcase their achievements and unique qualities.
Quantifying accomplishments: Using metrics and numbers can make accomplishments more impactful and memorable.
Preparing for interviews: Practice discussing key accomplishments beforehand and use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your responses.
Leveraging LinkedIn: Optimize your LinkedIn profile with relevant keywords and skills to increase visibility and attract recruiters.
Addressing common concerns: Discuss how to overcome challenges like a lack of a degree or specific personality traits.
Success Story: A client who was an executive without an undergraduate degree successfully landed a new job by effectively highlighting their accomplishments and tailoring their approach to interviews.
Additional Tips:
Customize cover letters: Tailor cover letters to specific job applications.
Use performance reviews: Refer to performance reviews for inspiration and data.
Practice active listening: Pay attention to the interviewer's questions and tailor your responses accordingly.

How Hard to Push for an Offer? Creative Ways to Receive Offers. Listener Q&A
nice video Matthew! I’m back…a contract role was going well for 2 months then they cut it early because the manager wasn’t interested in modernizing and becoming more efficient. Never doing contracting again!
I guess an anomaly but I would want to hear one or two things that the individual loves to do without the why. The fresh air bit D heart rate cringy
I am almost finished this book and it’s really good
you're amazing, thank YOU.
🎯👍
Or just never take that approach unless or until an offer actually HAS come through at which you can approach existing employer for a match or ante up. This barring the fact that you won’t take that other offer if the employer says no to your request to match.
Another danger of lying about having an offer is that a company will just say "okay good luck with them" and stop further interviews with you
EXCELLENT point! What you said happens often and is dangerous for job seekers. Don't miss this comment!! ^ thanks @IanDouglas
Eyyy congrats Matthew, so cool you got on tv 👏👏👏🎉
Thanks! It was a blast!
Which books would help in this scenario..
dynamite session…lots of gold in here! 😎👍
Entitled behavior max. Basically jump the hoops of a less qualified HR.
So much cleaner than the other garbage templates out there. Thanks Matthew!
One of the great myths and misconceptions is that executives are always highly busy and unavailable because they are just so important. Corporate executive positions are some of the most undemanding, cushy jobs in the world. I can’t think of anyone with more free time on their hands than corporate executives.
Sir how to become a creative and futuristic thinker and earn promotions through it in my company as engineer/employee by raising valuable work outputs ? Any book recommendations or tips to work it out as i have less experience in my field so have to find something else to grow at faster pace in corporate world and stand out from rest...
great interview! it’s so true that hiring teams have no clue how to handle most tech roles. thanks for sharing 😅
Sir when searching for job in competitive environment with a career gap how to identify pain points & position myself as the solution to recruiters concerns or problems by using loss aversion method or any fear that will motivate the interviewer to hire us directly ? Any books and practical examples to make a positive impact in upcoming interview...
Thanks for having me again on your podcast, Matthew! It was a fun discussion and I look forward to catching up in another episode. 😀

Meaningful talk ! Sir if i had to get the job within 1 month in a new city which methods of job search are essential to achieve the target ? If the answer is only Networking then how to do that perfectly ....
🔥🔥🔥 Thanks for doing this interview!
My late husband was always late, so I am always early now. If really early, I sit in my car parked a little away and go in ten minutes early. I did get hired recently with an agency only four drive minutes away. And can walk there in less than 30 minutes. Great advice, thanks. PS remember to move your mouse for video interviews.😊
Awesome advice, thanks so much!! Going to nail my interview today 🎉
Uncompromisingly forthright analysis !! Sir it is said that 'Writing' is the most important yet Underrated skill of the century so i want to know how to learn it effectively ? How it impacts our career & any mentors or books that could shed some light on it ??
Too Good 💎 Could you suggest which type of traits will make an engineer employee highly valuable or unique that attracts more money in career ? Which books would help in this scenario..
An Engineer with excellent interpersonal skills - for within the company and with clients will help a lot. Look into the books "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie and "Emotional Intelligence 2.0" by Daniel Goleman
Fruitful Conversation !! Sir what's the secret or tactics to get a big salary as fresher after internship ? Or if that is not achieved how to increase our payscale faster after joining the company.. which factors decide or make us highly valuable or unique..
Excellent ✅ Sir how apply, create resume to get a job after a big career gap of 5 yrs due to family reasons ? What factors matters the most when it comes to improving our chances of being valuable in the eyes of recruiters in such a situation..
Depending on your job specialty and industry, I suggest you look into any certifications you can get NOW. Update skills, and receive certificates to add to your resume and talking points. It helps to show that you are active, up-to-date, and eager to do great work. Hope that helps!
Great video! I've used ChatGPT to distill past JD's and I feel like your approach beat the results from AI. This helped me craft more compelling stories to weave into the discussions.
I beat AI!!!! Thanks so much.
One of my friend told me to not package Knowledge as experience or skills as knowledge is different from these two it is not practical ! So how to highlight my knowledge of Hvac engineering in interviews in the best way possible so it can be beneficial for us both ? What factors impacts the most in terms of our Likeability in the recruiters eyes ?
Sir i am a Hvac design engineers fresher, 1 confusion which i have was - while answering about my big career gap of 4 yrs due to family reasons in my field of AEC construction as engineer what should i say to not sound unprofessional in any way ? The hard skills which i learnt in 2019 internship period along with software's skills are still relevant but if the hiring manager asked what more have you learnt then what is the best answer ? Can i say i have watched many useful lectures on TH-cam & attended webinars along with reading articles & books about my field, various sales, psychology books also..
Great advice, thanks Matthew!
This was a great episode! I can't believe only ~50 people have seen this. There are some awesome tips in here.

Insightful interview! Lots of great ideas in here.
awesome topic! How am I first comment??
Your summaries at the end are excellent. Nice video! I can't believe you're not getting the views/likes you deserve. I hope to help your algorithm
Great video! I really liked your summarizing comment regarding what it's really all about.
Hey I think you might also like the podcast. I have WAY more episodes on the podcast - www.jobinterviewexperience.com/podcast
Nice video! What are you thoughts on suggesting a lower seniority role during an interview before the company might? I've applied and director of the department wants to initiate the interview process because he saw value in what I can bring to the CSM team. It's for a Senior position, and while I CAN do the job (all transferable skills, industry knowledge, etc.) I have not been in that role specifically before. I know a lot of internal hires occur and outside candidates are declined, so ideally I'd like to maximize my chances. I can see how framing it well is important so as not to come across desperate. Thanks!
Good question. Instead of an applicant saying, "I'll willing to take a lower role to get the job", here's a better response: "I've never focused on job titles or seniority. My focus is helping your company (insert what you can do here) in any way I can." You can leave the rest up for interpretation for them. I've heard top leaders in the industry say this. It's not about the title, it's about helping the company. It's humble and proactive. What do you think? I hope this helps!
That's awesome advice @@jobinterviewexperience . I like that framing a lot - humble and self-aware with no feelings of desperation. I appreciate your content, my friend!
Nice content, thanks! I like your content; dense and succinct. Too many on YT love to hear themselves talk and it's difficult to take out the keys.
I really appreciate that! My goal is to share everything that needs to be said while keeping it short. Keeping it short is the hardest part, and I spend a lot of time honing the message to be most helpful. Thank you for the kind words and encouragement!
Thank you sir .my job interview is soon
Excellent, thank you. I keep doing practice interviews and every time I answer this question it sounds dumb and starts to be rambling. Good idea to write it down and have my answer prepared
Thank you! Check out the podcast for WAY more episodes that will help - www.jobinterviewexperience.com/podcast
Lmao. Ive been looking into recruiting for a year and i avoided the term 'executive recruiter' like the plague because i dont want to recruit executives. Or maybe my problem was that i assumed executives were CEOs
Thank you so much for selecting me for an interview. I apologize that my camera isn’t working. This is great for you as I am not wearing pants
Good tip about dressing up during the phone interview, but if it is a spontaneous call this is not an issue)
Where can I buy sample simulation and assessment for C level position? Thank you
I had a phone interview this morning. Hours later I got an invite for a second in-person interview! I made sure to save questions till the end. I think it was a combination of my questions, how I explained my skills and the thank you note that helped me. I mentioned something she said in the note. I made sure to take notes, with a pen. She doesn't need to hear the clicking of the keyboard.
Good points. Thank you.
Thanks you so much for your time !
This is why I never answer my call, to numbers I don't know.
The recruitment call isn’t an interview 😂.. it’s a chat
SUCH A BEAUTIFUL VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!‼️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Fact is I wouldn't want a phone interview..i like looking into their face ..
That's interesting because many people feel more nervous for in-person and video chat interviews.
I agree with Bonnie. When you can read facial expressions and body language, you at least know with a high degree of certainty if the interviewer is interested in what you have to say. Over the phone, you hope that the expression in their voice is real and not faked. It can be hard to tell sometimes, especially if you really want the role and you want to convince yourself you did well. But they're the judge who decides if you can proceed to round 2.
Now they're using Teams so you *are* looking at each other. I messed up my 1st one last month when she asked me about the biggest problem I ever had?? I'm an industrial maintenance tech, I'm the guy they call to take care of problems. I felt like the questions were "canned" and really didn't have *correct* answers, but a technique to extract your persona...
