Travel is a window to the world, but travel can also be expensive if you let it. I travel the world on a budget, looking for ways to see the authentic and the beautiful without breaking the bank. In this channel, I share my travels with you, and after each video. Afterward, I break down the costs involved step by step, and finally tell you in my opinion whether that trip was worth it, based on how much it cost and what we were able to see. I travel varied places from around the USA, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, wherever I get the chance to go. So if you've ever thought about traveling but thought you couldn't afford it, check us out and subscribe.
Is a Trip to Folkston, Georgia Worth It?
This week we're traveling pretty close to home, going to Folkston Georgia. Folkston is both one of the gateways to the Okefenokee Swamp, but also home of the Folkston Funnel, where all the train traffic coming up the East coast funnels through a small gap. Join us on our trip to see what we did, then find out in detail what we spent. At the end, I'll tell you based on the cost and what there was to do, if I think the trip was worth it.

มุมมอง 7998 หลายเดือนก่อน

This week we'll be taking a stop there while aboard the cruise ship, MSC Seashore and see what there is to do. After doing a tour, I'll decided based on the cost and what there was to do if it was worth going, in my opinion. This channel is all about traveling on a...

As always on this channel, we break down how much it costs to travel, and then in the end I give my opinion on whether the trip was...

Find out what it was like aboard this cruise ship, what there was to do, and finally I'll break down how much it cost for everything. 👍🏼
I just recently stumbled across your channel, great quality content. I love to travel myself definitely gained a new subscription. Hope to see more videos in the future👍
Thanks so much for the sub. Definitely need to get more content up. Ironically it's hard to make videos when you're traveling so much. Will get to it though.
Have you guys been to Bryson City, NC? I am told that it is a cool trip to take the train up the mountain, have a meal at the top or see the museum, then take the train back down... Great video! Thanks for sharing your experience!
I have been to Bryson City, but it's been a very long time. Definitely before I was making videos. That would be a good place to do a video though.
Visit the almost local motocross track and the prisons!
Stationed there USN 1979. River View hotel had a great bar then. Cumberland Island used to sail there. So glad to get transferred out in 79, mosquito heaven then. Also pretty dead town for a young sailor.
I had the privilege, literally, to stay on the island for a few days in a private residence. It is a beautifully unspoiled place.
An early Jan trip with everyone in shorts and sleeveless tops? Either an exceptional winter day or some of this video was shot on another trip? After referencing "wild horses" several times, you get it correct with "feral horses". As to bikes, even via the early or first ferry, it's not possible to travel the entire island in one day and catch the ferry to return. Grand Ave. (or the main north-south road) is often problematiic to travel via a bike in dry weather. Many folks abandon their rental bikes along the road due to difficulty of travel in the soft substrate. Biking along the beach is also problematic due to adverse winds and tides. Bikes are also restricted on some sections of beach and off the main road. Recemt years have seen closures due to more frequent tropical storms. Otherwise, a pleasant cameo of your trip but very limited in scope and detail. Also much gratitude for not collecting or showing drone video on or near the Seashore where such is prohibited. Not all producers comply with the regulations.
Thank you! Ga born and I’ve never been. Beautiful….
Thank you
The Greyfield Inn is worth stopping by to see. Also, the little wood church that John F Kennedy Jr and Carolyn Bissette were married in is on the island.
Cost me $15 and some boat gas. It's a nice place, the wild horses are fun to watch and if you don't mind a lot of walking then it's worth the price.
If you have your own boat you could always bring bikes. Best way to see the island, in my opinion.
@@TravelWorthTaking-wj7bmYes you can bring your own bikes, I can't ride one for medical reasons.
Waw
I live in Suwannee Co. in Florida. Visited Stephen Foster Park and saw little rodents the size of mice swimming freely in the swamp. Mentioned it to the park rangers, and they didn't know what I was talking about. 🤔🐭
How much to rent a bike?
Last info I had was that it's $16 to rent for the day or $20 for overnight.
@@TravelWorthTaking-wj7bm thank you!
I think so. I have one of my five sisters who has expressed intrest in going there to take photos and make a painting or a few from them. I have not been to the island, just around the other popular locations a couple of times and that's been a few decades ago.
I'm a professional photographer, and the island is a photographers dream for so many different reasons.

That's a great tip. Yes, avoiding the crocodiles is always best.
Hi we just looking to live here for 3 months. My 9 year old son os half Ethiopian so I would love to take him there from New Zealand. Would be cool to chat with you about it more. 🤔
You're looking at living in Arba Minch or somewhere else in Ethiopia?
I live near Fort Stewart. In 2 years I can retire part time and buy a van. Maybe I can get a senior discount
No, Nassau is a tourist trap. The cruises should dock close to beaches since there's nothing to do in town.
It is a beautiful place. We go every year and camp. Lyme Disease is a problem so heavy tick repellent is recommended.
When I lived there, I received hindered a of tick bites - I never got Lyme disease. Interesting
I went in January. It was warm, but never found any ticks.
Who would have thought there would have been ticks on an island you have to take a 40 minute ferry ride to get to! Thank you so much for that tip, I was only thinking sunscreen and possible mosquitoes. I’m so glad you posted that! 🙂👍🏻
@southernyankee2300 There ARE ticks there! I’ve been gone 11.5 years now. Mostly, they are seed ticks. They look like a pepper shaker shook pepper on your legs. BCk then, I was told there was no Lyme disease. I have zero idea about what’s going on now. I have symptoms and suspect that I have had it, but I’m not in a good area for good medical care. So, who knows?!?! Id still take precautions. If I had to choose when to go… it would be December - April. Best wishes!
just stayed for 3 days, caught 8 ticks.
Why didn't you drive around the island, there are nicer beaches if you go west. You can see how bahamians actually live, it's literally the 3rd richest independent country in the western hemisphere, If you want to get a feel for it. Although that would require spending money for transportation. There is the Clifton heritage park with remains of a plantation and under water sculpture park. Ardastra Gardens is nice and The national art gallery. You can swim with sharks with Stuart's cove. There is actually alot to do. Nassau isn't a tourist trap, it's expensive because it's a city on an island with a high standard of living. It's literally top 10 most expensive places to live in the world. The Only islands more expensive are Cayman and Bermuda. There is an advisory but truth be told almost 10 million ppl visit the Bahamas and not much of anything happens. It's pretty safe.
This is why the comments are a good thing. If you go online to do a search for things to do in Nassau, you won't find any of this. You just get the usual tourist trap excursions. It's good to hear from the locals. Thanks.
Surprised you didn't go to Fish Fry. If you are really into the culture of a place this should've been at the top of your list.
Where is Fish Fry? Funny I hadn't heard of it. But that's why these videos are good. We learn from each other.
Great video. Good job.
Hey, so glad you liked it.
God yes.
Suggestions.......grand cannon and colorado i did niagra and ws disappointed. i really liked the money break down down to the gas cost and what you would do differently.
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed the video. I'd definitely consider doing one on the Grand Canyon.
😂 *promo sm*
You might think so, but if you check out my other videos, I don't always recommend going.
Yes, it is worth it. I like to camp there during the winter.
Yes, winter is fantastic there. Next time I go I'll have to do an overnight camping trip for at least one night.
