@toritales This was an excellent video, very helpful and informative. I am going back to school soon, and taking the Starbucks ASU route as well. Thank you for sharing, I can relate to most everything you said including why you dropped out, being away for over a decade, (you look really young btw, me too, but I’m definitely older that you)😅your dedication, and maturity upon returning. And most importantly your Faith in God🙏🏽 I am watching your video 2 years after you posted it. Hope all went well, guess I will have to check your other videos to see what happened next. You are an inspiration.Stay strong and focused. God Bless💪🏽🙏🏽

Hi! Great video and CONGRATS on graduating!! I’m in SCAP and just wanted to clear up for future viewers that Starbucks won’t make you pay any money back for failed, dropped, or withdrawn classes! Around the 8:50 mark you said “if you don’t pass, you might owe the money back”, but the Starbucks Tuition Benefit is provided even for failed classes, which is so awesome! It only states that “any failed, dropped, or withdrawn courses will count toward the maximum number of credit hours” which is 135 hours. So if you fail a few classes and max out your 135 hours Starbucks pays for, then you would have to pay out of pocket to retake those classes. But if you transfer credits from another college, you may never run into that issue even if you fail a few! 💛 I graduate this summer - only one semester left 🎉

I have a friend who went through this program. I had like a 2.5 gpa in high school, dropped out, got my GED, went to massage therapy school, discovered hard drugs, dropped out of massage therapy, got a couple years clean, and have made God the center of my life and recovery. I do believe now, at just over 2 years in, that my higher power is calling me to go back to school, however, I'm thinking of starting with an associates at a local community college as I want an in person experience. I'm currently a server and making okay money, but I have wanted to work at starbucks and take advantage of this opportunity since getting clean. Anyway, I really appreciate all your insights and it gave me a lot of hope. I really thought my life was over, and for a moment, it nearly was, but with this second chance at life I really want to respect and appreciate it more than I have in my past. I just turned 23 so school was a while ago, but it was also just yesterday. Anyway, God bless you and thank you

Hmm there seems to be a lot of these type of programs in Hawaii. I work in the banking industry and they do tuition reimbursement but I already have a degree but to be honest I don’t think a degree is all that anymore and I think I would be where I am today if I just worked and got relevant experience versus wasting time and money in school.

You and I were pretty much in the same exact situation! I dropped out of school in 2011 and returned a couple of years ago at the age of 29. I've just graduated with a 4.0 (never in my life have I seen that number) and obtained an AA in English. I just started at Stabucks and will be taking advantage of their ASU benefit! From my experience, I feel like jumping into college right after high school isn't the best choice for everyone. Over the last decade, I've basically worked in retail and climbed my way up the ladder. Started out making about $9 an hour to eventually $24 an hour. However, I felt like I had obtained great leadership experience and eventually hit a wall that made me realize I could be doing more with my life. Going back to school wasn't easy, but all my years of working and maturing has done me well. Good luck to you!

Starbucks also is about sequencing and changing positions. So if you can’t remember drink recipes you can prepare food items and be in charge of warming stuff up! Or organizing/ stocking. Also that helps with remembering drink recipes by knowing the ingredients names or however you might practice 😅 the cashier system has basic options to choose as far a size , drink , and add ons. At Starbucks the coffee machines are so easy to use especially over the years now u just turn the mf on and boom 2 shots of espresso

I work at Starbucks and I applied to ASU as a transfer student. Everything Tori said is correct. The classes are fast paced so keeping track of due dates is imperative since the quarter system is used. So far, after a year of ASU, I have only purchased 2 books and 1 graphing calculator. A lot of the materials can be included. I don't know any other employer that gives you health and life insurance, free coffee and food per shift, free weekly pound of coffee, free Spotify premium, flexible schedule and a degree at ASU paid up front. If you are a partner at Starbucks please don't burden yourself with a school loan.

yea, i get it. working at starbucks can be really rough and honestly, i can't imagine working there for 5 years! you have my respect. i know for me personally though, it would be much harder to find a job that would help me to pay off the tuition faster or just as fast as the SCAP program does, so that's why i stay. praying for you as you decide!

Wow! I honestly needed this. I came to your video assuming it'll just be all about the same ole facts about the program like most of the other videos. But you gave such great information about the program which was awesome! Thank you! However, it literally shocked me when you started talking about God and how he has lead you to going back to school. WOW! I just can't begin to explain how powerful that was. I've been praying & asking God to show me which way I should go. I just got hired onto Starbucks, and once I heard about the college program, I was instantly interested. In a way, ,it's like God literally spoke through you, not just for me, but i'm sure for many others as well. Keep shining your light girl. Thank you for creating this video, for becoming a youtuber, and for your voice. What you do matters. Thank you! All glory to God, keep your faith going my sis. (:

Hi April Rose! I just wanted to reply to your comment and genuinely say, thank you. I've been struggling with balancing the various things on my plate in this season and I've been praying about whether or not I should stop TH-cam. I kept asking God if he would confirm it for me if he did want me to persevere on this platform. Just about every time I asked him, your comment popped into my mind. Thank you for being open and honest about God in your life and your walk because as much as you think God spoke to you through this video, he also spoke to me through your comment :) Thank you again and I'm praying for you! P.S. more content to come soon! <3
