Day games in the World Series were a treasure. MLB is too greedy to let it happen again, even one time. Sad.

Iron Mike Marshall had a great season(Cy Young), but his luck ran out when he surrendered the homer to Joe Rudi in game 5. Rudi hit Marshall well all series.

He can hit....he can flat hit....

Fred Lynn almost came close to being the MVP of the 1975 World Series. He can make the defensive plays spectacularly just like his teammate Yaz, and, like Cincy's Tony Perez, he can hit for power and he did. Fisk's walk-off blast in Game 6 looked like a home run done by a pinch hitter who was in the MLB for at least 5 years. The celebration that occurred after the dinger was as if Boston won the whole World Series. But there was one more game to go. But of course, what the Big Red Machine got that caused them to win the Series was Tony Perez. I am starting to like him--very dangerous hitter in the "Machine", but it was a bit close. He had a slump up to Game 5. And when Game 3 happened when homers by Geromino and Bench happened, I thought Tony would follow with his. He did not in that game. But not until Game 5 when he blasted his first jack of the series---did I definitely respect Tony Perez's batting power on Cincy offense.

This is the best World Series the Yankees have ever played. They ran up against the Big Red Machine and got whooped.

Didn't really have a dog in this fight, but one REALLY BAD CALL cost a WS victory for St.Louis.

Interesting trivia: Danny Jackson threw an immaculate inning in the seventh inning of Game 5, becoming the only pitcher to do so in a postseason game.

That was a great team no question. Imagine getting charged with 3 errors on 2 balls hit in a row!

The Reds and Red Sox were so evenly matched. The Reds had mgr. Sparky Anderson, Johnny Bench, Tony Perez, Joe Morgan, Pete Rose, Clay Carroll, Don Gullett and Gary Nolan. The Red Sox had Carlton Fisk, Rick Burleson, Carl Yazstremski, Denny Doyle, Fred Lynn, Louis Tiant, and Dwight Evans. I rooted for the Reds to win, but I have a great deal of respect for the Red Sox and Fenway.

Reading these comments, it’s great to see how many of us were or became A’s fans because of their wonderful early 70’s play and players! I too was hooked on this team, as a 10 year old living in Upstate New York, watching them on tv whenever they were on.

It was nice seeing the original Oakland coliseum with the outfield bleachers and you could see the Oakland hills in the background!!!!!! ⚾👍

My dad’s told me a shit-ton of Big Red Machine store from when he was a kid and I never tire of hearing them. Of course, I wasn’t able to watch this series because I wasn’t born until May 7th, 1995 and also because my parents wouldn’t meet for another ten years (when they were in high school).

I don't care for the modern era of baseball. I attended my first major league game in 1960. I was 15. Stopped watching the game around the late 90's. Serious Dodger fan back then.

I was 7 during this series. Big Met fan from NJ with my dad watching the games. I thought Willie Mays was always a Met. I’m amazed at how much I remember. Rusty Staub was my favorite player along with Felix Millan. What a pitching staff they had. Too bad they didn’t keep Nolan Ryan. Imagine Ryan, Seaver and Koosman on the same team. Not only did Hendricks obviously not tag Carbo but that was one of the worst umpiring plays in MLB history, due respect to Angel Hernandez and Jim Joyce.

I was at this game. I was 8. Still gives me goosebumps. Sad the Oakland Alameda county Coleseum will be gone after this season. What a beautiful stadium still in great shape. Sad they are tearing it down because it a top 5 ballpark in the majors.
