A video of 2024's excellent Triumph Owners' M.C.C.'s 75th Anniversary celebration at Shelsley Walsh. The run up the hill on the 1969 Daytona on the day was made with the camera's sound off (doh!). Sound was added by another run up the hill the following day, after the event had closed.
Triumph Trident (the "Parallelogram") at the 2024 Borders Classic Bike Show

At the 2024 Borders Classic Bike Show three bikes were ran, all loud (that was the point, and there was an award for the loudest, and this bike, the Parallelogram, won). The bike is called the Parallelogram due to its unusual rear suspension design. This was to ensure a constant drive chain length, thereby reducing wear in races such as the TT. It was conceived, designed and built by Martin Rus...

Video of an excellent ride out from Greetham Community Centre to the lovely Heckington Windmill, as part of Triumph Owners' M.C.C's Big Branch Bash, superbly organised by the Ian Waumsley and the South Lincs. I was brought up in Melton from age 2. I left when I was 18, never ever to return. Thank you for this video!
New or old royal Enfield never start in on kick😅😅

Nice to see this. I’m too young to remember asfordby without the bypass but been told about it often enough as my grandad lives on regency road in the village.
Nice to see Sileby as it was ( including Newbolds) , and Hoby only beaten for bends by Long Clawson surely.
I was living n working there about thus time 🙂
Brake lever is a bit too high non?
Eh, what???

What makes you say that?
Must be therapeutic riding that
It will be once properly sorted. She rode nice, but the carburettor isn’t set up right. She seemed more planted than the Lambretta.

Nice machine. Interested in selling it? I sold my Constellation in 1974 - it's about time I had another.....

That is 1985 not 86. B&H printing on Norman way were already opened by Christmas 85 The inner relief road was fully open by late 85 and when I started working at Burgess (Melton) in February 1986 the ring road was finished and up and running properly. The walls alongside the inner relief road and Burgess were built and the area between the road and the workshop were planted up by the council by late autumn.
Thanks for the additional information.
I would say it is older than 1985 because there were no buildings on the ground opposite the "Pera" building on Nottingham Rd. This ground just before the old railway embankment was known locally as the hills and hollows and was built on around 1984 and was where Melton borough council had their "new"(@ the time) offices. I know this for definite as I was a trainee bricky on the site. Also the fact that the guy mentioned that the council offices were still in the old building (Wilton hs) adjacent to the memorial gardens. They didn't move out of those promises until March/April 1985. The council has since this moved yet again to another new build on the site of the old railway coal yard. The old site now has a supermarket (I think sainsbuy) on it. I was born there in 1966 and left in 1984 and vowed never to return. I dislike this place with every nerve in my body. I was so glad to hear they are now building a ring road around it so I can now avoid it even more. Hopefully it will bring about the demise of this dreadfully place with no "passing trade". Best advice I would give anyone about this dump is to avoid it like COVID 19 and if you're already there, get out ASAP.
@@allsortsabouteverything it’s 1985
I was at Daytona in '71 when the three's were reigning well and Dick Mann won. Hearing those threes wail out onto the trioval was quite impressive, nothing like them.
I think we met 14?…. years ago, Spa. It’s been a sunday morning 6 am testing and warming up in my neighborhood (directly). Great morning, good coffee and wonderful breakfast sound! Hope we’ll meet again- somewhere sometime! Greets 🤵🏼♂️🐶🪖
Anyone want to help me remake this video 40 years on?
I left Melton in 1990 for Auckland, New Zealand, it's how I remember it. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for posting this Mick. Never seen it before. Very poignant, hearing Margaret, Cyril and Rupert 🥰
Listening to that exhaust when the bike is ridden in anger will make the hairs on your neck stand up. What a sweet sound.
Hi Barry, I feel the same, I've got goose bumps even now writting this! I use to live by the A45 between Coventry & Birmingham and Percy Tait was an acquaintance. He gave me a lift home once from the factory, I'll treasure that memory. I remember being at Mallory Park and watching three tripples side by side going around the hairpin. I was at Silverstone and Percy let me sit on Slippery Sam for a photo (it was on a stand). Unfortunately I'm too short to ride anything bigger than a Triumph T100R. My first big bike was a T100c and I'm still ridding a 1970 T100R now even though I'm 69 years old.

Born in 2002 this is bizarre for me to see because it hasn't changed too much.
I was born here 2001. This generation I didn’t get to see, nor did my parents who moved here in the 1990s. Thank you for sharing this, I love seeing the differences and similarities of my birth-town.
Mike, have you dabbled in the road racing scene much yourself?
No, not at all.

Thanks for posting this! I live in Hampshire now, but Melton is my hometown.
Never been to Melton, don't know where it is but enjoyed watching that. Could have been almost anywhere in UK round that time
North east Leicestershire… home of pork pies and Stilton cheese. I was born and bread in melton. Don’t live there now but my family still does….
My heart breaks every time i think back to the number of these bikes i had back in the very early 60's. Oh for hindsight at the right moment. does anyone know how much a tiger 110 with the bathtub panels got for these days??
I'd suggest £6K plus, but all depends on age and condition.
@@mickbarratt9636 Many thanks, I had no idea of prices. I did go into a Triumph dealership near me, the dude was more interested in telling me how much they contribute to new safety gear when a customer buys a new Triumph motorcycle. Crikey, when I learned of the cost and the amount of safety gear these days I was staggered. Long gone are the days of Blue jeans, white Tee shirt and a smile! Back then, ‘skid lids’ or crash helmets were preserved for inclement weather, more for keeping out the cold than any practical purpose. That said, I owe, if not my life, then certainly my physical well being, to a said ‘skid lid’ when riding pillion with a mate. He just passed his test and went from a 125cc BSA Bantam to a 600cc Norton, of course I was the idiot who volunteered to ride pillion to introduce him some of Scotland’s better motorcycle roads. I knew within five minutes, the day wasn’t going to end well!!! An ambulance ride later on proved my foreboding to be correct lol 😂
@@Fyodor48 Yes, I recall when, after the two pre-units had been off the road for some years through marriage, kids and divorce, I was loaned a Kawasaki GPX600R. My work colleagues were horrified when I turned up in a pair of casual ankle length boots, ordinary jeans, and an old leather jacket. They had no idea, most being younger or born-again bikers with money. I remember breaking several bones in my right foot in a bike accident. 3 days later I was riding from Melron Mowbray to Leicester in teh rain with teh same gear on, except a baseball boot several sizes too big with a carrier bag for rain protection on my injured foot. And with a pillion!
@@mickbarratt9636 aye, I can well imagine their reaction! I was talking to a young dude (at my age everyone seems to be young 😐) he was early 30’s he was only out to pick up the paper he said. But he had ‘heavyweight jeans’ I didn’t know such a thing existed! In my day you were either a Levi or Wrangler jeans guy! But in/under under his jeans, he had on armour plate which protected his legs , then special leather uppers which were padded so as to protect in case he fell off. We never got to talk about his gloves n helmet etc etc . Like your colleagues he was horrified when told him about our T shirt, blue jeans, and if you could afford them, a pair of desert boots!!! When your young, Tis all about the look ! Kids these days whilst I may raise an eyebrow, they are deffo more sensible . So your pre-units, what did you ride? I was mostly a Triumph guy, though had a few BSA’s in my day. Looking back and chatting to my sons, they just look at me when I tell them just how cheaply you could pick up a running road legal bike for. If it’s not in thousands they don’t understand lol, when I say you could pick up a bike for £25 they think their old dad has lost the plot. But, to be fair it was many moons ago lol
