Hi Marian, Great question! The pattern provides the total yardage for the background fabric. To follow my method, you’ll start by cutting the pieces for the border strips as specified. Then, simply set aside the remaining background fabric for the blocks-it’s automatically the right amount after accounting for the border cuts. Hope this helps, and happy quilting! 😊

Yes, I do combine starched and unstarched fabric, and I don’t see it as a problem. When you starch fabric, it can shrink slightly due to the moisture. However, since I also use a steam iron on the other fabrics, they shrink in the same way. So in my experience, it works well to combine both.

Ja, ich hab sogar schon darüber nachgedacht, dafür ein eigenes TH-cam tutorial zu drehen, denn ich bekomme die Frage tatsächlich oft. Es fängt beim präzisen Zuschnitt an, geht über das ganz exakte Nähen von Blöcken oder Teilen in der richtigen Größe, so dass Teile nicht wellen oder alle flach liegen. Die Ränder spielen auch eine Rolle, damit nichts beult. Es geht weiter beim Quilting (muss schön aufgespannt werden, was natürlich mein Longarmservice für mich übernimmt) und beim Zuschnitt vom Quiltsandwhich (wird im Kurs genau erklärt). Damit hat man an sich ein schönes rechtwinkliges, flaches Stück. Es dann aufzuhängen ist ein Kinderspiel: Man näht hinten einen Tunnel an und fügt eine flache Holzleiste ein, die als Aufhängehalterung dient. Aber - all diese obigen Komponenten, also der gesamte Weg - spielen in das Endergebnis hinein, es geht nicht nur um den "Aufhänger". 🙂

Ich nehme meine ganz normale Maschinennähnadel (ist eine 70er) und ich überlappe Anfang und Ende der Kreisnaht um ein paar Stiche, so ist kein Vernähen nötig. Es hängt wirklich sehr davon ab, welches Garn man benutzt, manche transparenten Garne sind sehr steif und das Stitchbild wird nicht schön. Das einzige Garn, das bei mir schön und problemlos funktioniert ist YLI transparent.
