The Church has a long history of portraying God in patriarchal terms and off in the sky somewhere looking down on the earth and its people. This hymn text by Jeanette Lindholm reflects my desire to find hymns and liturgy that introduce imagery of the Divine Feminine and a God who walks alongside us through life. Lovely, thank you very much Steve. Please could we use the 4 songs this coming Advent at St Saviours RC Church Lewisham, UK
@@gillman4459 Thank you for the compliment. Permission isn’t really mine to give as I am neither a composer or hymn text writer. The tunes are well-known hymn tunes and are likely in the public domain. The text was written by Sandra Dean in the middle eighties. I don’t know if she still owns the copyright or has sold it to a publisher. The text can be found in the United Church hymnal, Voices United.
Very artistic keep at it ENJOT✌️
Thank you!

How many minutes is the candle can anyone help out? With regards to daily use, how long does it burn before you blow it out? Any specific time of day? The following day is it lit again? Or the next week along with the second candle and for how long - 5 minutes, ,15 minutes? Or until it burns out??? Not sure how to use the advent candle set. My set includes a white one too. What is the white one for?
Try to keep it within 30 minutes. No longer than an hour though. I also light the Hanukkah Menorah and if I have the Advent wreath lit on other days besides Sunday it is because I am keeping them lit with the Menorah because Christ is the Light of the World. I also have back up candles just in case.
Very beautiful!
Thank you very much!
Music to fall in love with -- and stay in love. Thank you.

Very well played and sung. The words are so meaningful for the present world. Thank you for sharing this wonderful hymn about Christ's birth.
Thank you. Very very beautiful.
So nice and thank you dear
The theology of the verse on Peace is not correct. See John 14:27. Any reading of the Beatitudes that suggests the "peace" referred to is something we "do" is to misinterpret the text. I suggest a revision of this verse please.
You are correct: How about something like this for this verse? "A candle is burning, a candle of PEACE. A candle to signal Jesus offers His Peace. A peace that the world cannot offer us now. He wants us to not be troubles or afraid." Note: I am not the author of the video; it is just a suggestion for the verse words.
Excuse typo for "troubles" which should be "troubled."
Beautiful ❣❣❣
Lovely
Hi Mike - the Peace and Joy verses are sung to Afton Water.
Help! I have been wracking my brains! What is the melody for the Joy verse?

Lovely - what is the tune you sing the second verse to?
All verses are sung to an alternative tune to Away in the Manger.
I would like to do the same, for Christ Church (Anglican), Rawdon, QC
Please feel free!
Thank you very much. Have been delighted with the first two weeks and look forward to the remaining ones.
This is beautiful. May I use it for our online worship service this coming Sunday? And second question - are you planning to record one for each Sunday in Advent? It would be such a blessing to us if we could share your work! Thank you!
