Fletching and Testing DCA Custom Arrows Sabre Vanes (Super and Mini)
Fletching DCA Custom Arrows Sabre Vanes (Mini or Super). I overdue the wiping the base with alcohol and the dry paper towel, just to emphasize the point. It's better to do too much than not enough. I use 70% Isopropyl alcohol and Bob Smith Maxi-Cure. Make sure that the alcohol is wiped off and don't use too much Maxi-Cure adhesive. Just a thin line down the middle and put it down on the arrow shaft. Everything available at www.DCACustomArrows.com

Vane Sound Test - Sabre - HG 11242020
มุมมอง 2.7K4 ปีที่แล้ว
DCACustomArrows www.DCACustomArrows.com Sound testing a vane I'm developing (code name Sabre) vs a Max Hunter and Max Stealth. This is not a vane that was designed for looks. It has been developed using a Lab Radar to determine the drag coefficient and drop, a custom wind tunnel as well as sound data (as seen here). Along with other testing that might come out at a later point whe...

7 different vanes were shot 100 yards with a camera set up at 60 yards to test the noise generated. The arrow, a Black Eagle Rampage, was 460 gr flying at 273 fps. I shot: Q2i Fusion II, Easton Bully Boattail, AAE Max Stealth, AAE Max Hunter, TAC Matrix 2.25, TAC Driver 2.75, TAC Summit and a Bohning Blazer. As well as a bareshaft.

    Do you have the DB numbers from this test. Other than maybe the Max + Nocturnal I’m having a hard time noticing the difference.

    Very informative video I’ve always liked the AAE max stealths Subscribed !

    Awesome video. Subscribed. How much do you think the degree of helical adds to most vane noise? For instance, do you think the AAE Max Stealth with 3 degrees would be similar in noise to the AAE Max Hunter with 1 degree? Thanks! Nick >>------->

      Great question and yes. The more angle you add the louder the vane will be. I have new vanes coming out shortly that you might like. They are pretty stellar! th-cam.com/video/hXtIbGDVjcg/w-d-xo.html

      @@dcacustomarrows1816 awesome. I’m wanting to get some lower profile fletchings (<0.50”) for 4 fletch at 1 degree left helical. I know you like 3 fletch, higher profile. Any thoughts on vanes I would like using my 4 fletch 1 deg low profile?

      @@AZHighlandHomestead Yep I'm a fan of >0.5, 3 fletch. a 4 Fletch Max Stealth is an option. They do have a lot of drag in that configuration though.

    Curious to the bohning heat vanes for this and the accuracy test

    • @dcacustomarrows1816
      @dcacustomarrows1816 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've heard a lot of people ask about them. I currently don't have any for the test. I will have some Q2i Griff-X 2.3. I think they are a more aero version of the Heat and they are just a little taller. I'll see if I can get some in time.

    Can you cut the video from bow going off to right before the arrow goes over the mic? Seems like the animal is only going to hear up until the vanes are 27" away. It will never experience what we are all focusing on when we listen, unless you miss. I wonder if the difference is as noticeable.

    • @dcacustomarrows1816
      @dcacustomarrows1816 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you on that. I was just trying to get the sound that the vane was making for another purpose. This video... jump to 1.27... to hear what the animal would see and hear from 100 yards. With the Max Hunters. th-cam.com/video/B11pIqTlYzQ/w-d-xo.html

    Really interesting but now I want to watch the accuracy test ......where is it? You might be onto something with your conclusion. Do you think the amount of helical may also increase noise? We know it will decrease down range speed but should also provide better steering - hence back to your theory. Well done!

    • @dcacustomarrows1816
      @dcacustomarrows1816 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know, I'm really interested to see if my plan for the accuracy test will work... I've got plans for it. I'll show it if I succeed or fail. It may benefit someone or someone may have a better idea. We're all just trying to find out the truth and "best vane". All of these vanes have worked and will work well. I'm just trying things to see what factors are important for different situations. Thanks for the encouragement and wish me luck! PS Send vanes!!! =)

      @@dcacustomarrows1816 Best of Luck! I'm looking to build new arrows for 2020 - maybe heading back to standard diameter and have my arrows down to two choices, one being the VF TKO. However, I'm not sure if I should stick with the old trusted Blazers or something a little different.

    Would it make a difference if if the stealths were at a 2.5-3 degree instead of just the 2degree offset and what was the reason they were not fletched like that? Shaft size?
