Just an FYI to anyone thinking about getting one, I bought one a couple years ago and set it to the atomic clock signal, I haven't stopped it since and it's still running within a second of the atomic clock signal, it hasn't even lost 2 seconds over the span of 2 years, that's extraordinary. It's also just beautiful to look at, very comfortable, waterproof and tough. Really is the perfect watch to me.

i have Grand Seiko and a Rolex Oysterquartz...both are pinacles of accuracy. I think Rolex is a swiss movement adapted to quartz and it beats loud. That tick...LOL. The GS I owned were silent. I traded in my Yellow Gold GS I think SBGX016 after I bought another watch, but I recently got a SBGS007 I think in white gold. I have not tried it on yet, it is at my overseas home. But I bet it will be quieter. As far as accuracy I think they are about the same. My Oysterquartz was serviced at Rolex before I bought it, but the Grand Seiko may be hard to get serviced. One thing I notice is that Seiko seems to dismiss collectors and people who want service to their watches, while Rolex basically does everything. You can get your Rolex completely serviced by them and it will look as new as you allow them. They actually keep the price reasonable. But Seiko? GL with that. And no watchmaker will touch them for service, not in Tokyo. But maybe that is just my experience. Everyone tries to rip me off, as if rolex only has 70K watches with pink rubies when I walk in LOL.

Anyone know how long a GS quartz battery lasts? Seiko say that the battery is 3 years; a dealer told me that they actually last much longer - 6-8 years. Is it true?
